Hello,

Is anyone else about to start a cycle?
I start down regulating on Sunday, estimated embryo transfer week beginning 21st Nov, this will be my first round of IVF/ICSI after 3.5 years trying to concieve.

Mixture of emotions, excited to be starting after waiting so long to get here, nervous about side effects of drugs and injecting and terrified it wont work! The joys of infertility!

Welcome LoPI, you're in the right place. From your timelines, it sound like you're on a short protocol so straight onto stims once AF arrives?

Kez you've just discovered the main side effect of progesterone! The pessaries are making you bunged up (though, it shows they're working!)

Glass (and everyone else when the time comes), when you're ready you may wish to graduate to the Pregnancy After Infertility thread. Lovely ladies that have been through what we are going through and can support through the next phase.

I'm feeling better today. Just got back from acupuncture and feeling very zen ☁️ I've got my scan v early tomorrow so I'm looking forward to find out how the follicles are doing. I'm feeling very heavy, like I can feel my ovaries filling up

Thanks all. I've been pretty up and down - being really practical one minute, and then really emotional the next. But just posting has made me feel better! Def needed to share with someone other than OH. Again, thanks for warm welcome! x

Blue yes short protocol. Dr said I was OK to do either - but if I wanted to start as soon as possible then to go with this timeline. In again tomorrow for "injection teaching" - never thought I'd have that as part of my skill set!

Custard and Kez - your both in tomorrow for EC? Best of luck. I found it painless and pretty easy, hope its the same for you.

hobbs sorry I kept you on tenderhooks. :-) enjoy acupuncture- I'm curious about it. Done loads of reflexology and she now offers it, but I don't like needles? How do you find it?

Blue thank you for that!! At least it's nothing I've done to Bung me up!!
I like to think I have a pretty varied diet, enough fibre to keep me going if you know what I mean!!
Just don't know how I feel about EC now, going to be twice as uncomfortable I think!!
Anything you suggest??

Glass yes EC for myself & custard tomorrow. I have to be at the unit for 9.15am & I go in at 10am. Hoping to be in and out! I have a whole day planned of sofa, blanket, hot water bottle, Netflix & plenty of chocolate biscuits!

Glass i have just finished 3.5 weeks of down reg and have my scan in the morning to check that everything is quiet, all being well i will be starting my stimming injections tomorrow!

I have scan on Thur hopefully can start stimming Fri can't wait to lift this DR groggyness. Feeling bit down about it all one minute then up the next. Shouldn't wish time away but find this process drags ... Welcome Lopi- yes it's emotional and I never realised how many goalposts there were! Best of luck.

I'm feeling in a bit of a better place now. I figured this might not be the best time to have a breakdown seeing as I'm right at the beginning.

Welcome LoPI good luck tomorrow, I felt like a junkie getting tips off her dealer lol

AFM currently finished with AF today, I went in on day 1 and they said the cyst is still there. They aren't willing to do anything unless it disappears so told me to take microgynon every day and come back in next Tues for another scan. If it's disappeared then I can start stims on Thursday. If it's still there then I will have to wait until my next period but considering I get about four periods a year I can't see how this is feasible and so I was really disappointed when they said this.

Been on this journey for three years, two operations, scans, bloods, 9 months on clomid, an early miscarriage and a serious battle with depression I always saw ivf as the last resort and last week it felt that I wasn't even entitled to that!!

Doesn't help when everyone else just takes their knickers off and hey pronto they r pregnant. I'm just trying to get it together and really hope the little shite of a cyst has disappeared next week.

Sorry for going on!! I can blab for Britain when I want to.

Liberte - I'm sorry you've been through a really tough time... I hope that the cyst buggers off by next Tuesday so you can get started, it must be v frustrating for you at the moment x

it's a busy day with scans and ECs isn't it?

Glass - acupuncture has been great for me so far - never been a big fan of needles, but I'm not bothered by the acupuncture ones at all - it's v relaxing and tbh even if it's just helping cos I get to lie down for half an hour and just do nothing, that's great!
Whether it's coincidence or not I don't know, but the period I had after I started acupuncture was significantly less painful than I have been having for months, so I feel it could be doing something more than just placebo!

As a side thing, anyone else nervous about the result of the US election tonight?!

Hobbes - Interesting what you say about acupuncture. I think I'm going to try it too, if only for dedicated "time-out" during the week. (and, yes, following election - eek)

So I had my scan today and I have growing follicles! I think there are 6 on one side and 7 on the other. As I'm looking for quality rather than quantity this time, that's sounds good to me. Some are large (17mm) but there are a lot of smaller ones that need to catch up, so they are going to increase my dose. I'm just waiting for them to call to advise my new dose of Gonal F. I finished all the Menopur I had yesterday and was told I would be dispensed more after today's scan, and then I could take today's dose. I should have taken it at the clinic when the nurse dispensed it but I didn't, I forgot. So I came to work and had to shoot up in the disabled toilet 😳💉 I dropped a needle and then found I had a dodgy syringe (it kept emptying itself), so I'm glad the nurse had given me spares. Luckily didn't waste any of the Menopur! Next scan Friday!

I'm back from EC and set to spend the rest of the day on the sofa watching Netflix (and avoiding the news from USA, feeling extra tired as I kept checking on the results over night as I couldn't sleep). They got 12 eggs which is good news for today, will be on tenterhooks tomorrow morning to find out how many were mature and how many of those fertilised.

liberte glad your feeling in a better place now and I have everything crossed that that cyst goes away! EC was fine tbh I find the worst bit the needle for the drugs, I don't remember anything after being given the drugs before coming round in my room. I'm still a bit sore but no worse than I felt yesterday.

I'm also back from EC And have the same plans as custard. Sofa, tv and cups of tea.
EC went well after, struggled to put the drip in my hand as my hands were freezing so the veins were hiding. Had to put them in warm water to get the veins to pop out!
They got 14 eggs and my OH sperm looks good too so hopefully it will just be IVF & not ICSI. Expecting a call off the embryologist at 11.30am so on tender hooks until then!!

Blue glad your scan went well, 17mm already is great! You're well on your way.

Everyone else, how's it doing? I took a couple of days off work at the beginning of the week to just relax. Also I had the worst AF in the history of my womanhood. It started on Friday night and it's still going on now, but everything is swollen inside ...tmi ahead ... it hurts quite abit to insert and take out tampons. I've moved to pads today, only light spotting left. But my ovaries still feel swollen with random stabbing pain. I'm also nauseous and extremely tired which I suspect due to lots of blood loss. Any advice guys?

Ekam I had exactly the same thing after my unsuccessful cycle, it was the worst AF of my life. Eat lots of iron rich food - including chocolate! No other advice really, just ride it out and look after yourself

My scan today went well, all quiet and lining nice and thin. About to do my first injection to start stims! Got to practice on a fake belly this morning but way scary now its my own tummy chub in my hands!!!!

Custard hope your phone call this morning goes well, did they say what time they'd be phoning?

I've had my call, 11 eggs were mature and 8 have fertilised normally.

Just had my call, out of the 14, 11 were mature but 7 fertilised normally. The 8th one was over fertilised - greedy sperm, 2 got in
Looking at a Saturday transfer all being well!

That's great Kez, their looking at Monday for transfer, they will call again on Sat to let me know how they are doing.

Mine said they will phone again in the morning with another update, I'm booked in for transfer 11.15am on Saturday but will phone me first thing if they advise me wait until Monday (blasts). Either way I will take their advice, they're the experts after all.
I'm feeling ok, a little sore yes. And couldn't get comfy at all last night. These pessaries are playing havoc with my bowels, so bunged up . Feel like a big fat frump today.
I'm still in my dressing gown, reloaded on the sofa with lots of tea and crap telly.

I sneezed last night and it bloody hurt, so need to avoid sneezing for a few days! Sorry your having a bad time with the pessaries, I currently have huge boobs which is what I got last time, it's ok for a few days but then they get sore. I've only just got dressed going to go to my mum's this afternoon, enjoy the tea and telly

First injection went ok, i was so nervous lol i just held it over my tummy bracing myself but it wasnt as bad as i thought it would be! Think i will still be nervous again tonight but soon get the hang of it!
