Did my first needle tonight was so nervous was about to inject myself when I dropped the needle, had to get it ready again, then I just paused when I had to inject myself hovering the needle over my stomach, I couldn't mentally do it, it was like being in a dream where you cant run any faster, I held my breath and did it, I didnt feel a thing, not even when I pushed the liquid in. Will keep posting how it all goes, would love to hear from other people..

Good luck wispin

Hyland my friend bought a three cycle package from access fertility xx

Hyland · 28/02/2016 16:14

WISPIN Suppose I'll find if it's still there when i go for scan before starting the whole process again.

Do you think tour headache is stress related? How do you feel this time round?

BANANAFISH Quite expensive but it includes all potential frozen rounds as well, so could equate to 6 rounds or more. Especially if my last cycle is anything to go by. If successful it will mean we have paid thousands when it wasn't needed. If we fail after all that I believe we get a 70% refund. Not sure if I'm missing any loop holes. I know the drugs are not included or the consultations after frozen or any extra investigations scans or blood needed in between rounds.

How did your friend get on with it Bananafish?

We have been accepted but haven't paid yet!

It working is delivering a live baby.

bananafish81 · 28/02/2016 16:31

Hyland she ended up withdrawing from the scheme after two cycles were cancelled due to lack of response, but her clinic by all sounds of it have totally ballsed up all three cycles. So her issues were with the clinic not the scheme.

She did have a successful cycle with them 4 years ago which gave her her daughter but is now 41 - so I'm not sure if hers is the money back guarantee package

Hyland · 28/02/2016 16:43

They do a two cycle multiple programme no refund, just discounted.

Or 3 cycles refund programme.

Did she have a poor response previously to the drugs?

So hard to know what to do as i have AMH of 27 so that should be a good thing.

I had 11 eggs last time with 7 fertilised and 5 reach blasto. 2 transferred and failed and 3 frozen and then 2 frozen transferred failed.

Consultant discussed trying short protocol with a higher dose of the gonal f. He seemed to only decide this when i prompted him to my AMH of 27. It was like he decided that all though in his opinion I reacted well to the drugs. That maybe it should have been much better taking my AMH into account.

So now he wants me to take another Amh blood test £90 and saline scan £375. Before moving forward, which will also equate to another consultation fee! £250

Hyland · 28/02/2016 16:45

How are you getting along anyway?

bananafish81 · 28/02/2016 17:06

That is a very good AMH - what was your antral follicle count at baseline?

My AMH was 28 five years ago but I had an AFC of 42 - when I was PCOS. Then five years later I had a disgustingly low AMH of 1.5 and AFC of 5, urgh. Although at my baseline in Jan it had gone up to 10. And somehow we got 17 eggs from that.

My friend had a decent response to her first cycle (8 eggs, 1 blast and 1 baby), but her last 3 cycles have been a disaster. Two cancelled due to no response and one where she got two eggs and zero fertilisation

I did really well on short protocol (after my attempt at long protocol for my second cycle was abandoned!) on high stims. I started on 450iu Gonal-F but dropped down to a much lower dose after just a few days.

I'm OK thanks. Saw and heard a heartbeat this week which was utterly mind blowing. Xx

Hyland · 28/02/2016 17:15

I believe it was 17/19 and it kept climbing. I got told i kept recruiting new follicles and not growing the ones i had, which i assume explains the 11 eggs and only 7 fert. They actually reduced my dosage due to risk of over stimulating.

-------
Patients must be under 37. I will be 37 in May! Surprised they accepted me with the age criteria.

So maybe your friend used the refund to get first child and the recent cycle was the discount multi programme.

They look into your file with the clinic before deciding.

Have you start telling people yet?

You must be thrilled x

How far gone are you now?

Did your friend have icsi?

Hyland · 28/02/2016 17:16

Will you find out the sex?

So happy for you x Especially after the panic with the egg situation.

Can only imagine your sheer panic.

bananafish81 · 28/02/2016 18:17

With high AMH you might do well on a short protocol - and probably won't need higher stims

I saw a massive difference in embryo quality between my first and second cycles - protocols were broadly the same but I'd had over 4 months of the egg quality supplements by the time of the second, which I do wonder if it made a difference. No real way to know!

My friend didn't have ICSI for her zero fertilisation cycle I don't believe. But it's likely egg quality as they didn't have any known sperm issues - although if they hadn't cancelled the last cycle they would have done ICSI

Thanks for asking I am 8 weeks tomorrow. I have told some people but that's because I hadn't kept having treatment a secret and tbh if this one doesn't stick I think I'd welcome the support rather than suffering silent grief

Also as I am off work and on semi bed rest because I'm off all my pain meds (chronic pain from a spinal injury - been on hardcore opioids for 14 years and can't take anything stronger than paracetamol in the first trimester) it would be quite hard to explain

My sister in law busted me right away anyway before I even told them because apparently my small boobs are not quite so small!!!

We will find out the sex in due course although didn't ask to find out from the Panorama test, as I wouldn't want to know before the 12 week scan tbh. Think it would make a MMC even harder if we knew it was a baby boy or girl.

No real symptoms to speak of tbh - though my consultant said as my body was so busy focusing on pain any pregnancy symptoms probably faded into the background

Wispin · 28/02/2016 18:18

Hyland I think the headache may be from the pregnyl..it says it might be a side affect...congratulations bananafish81..

bananafish81 · 28/02/2016 18:18

So sweet of you to ask. We are beyond thrilled to have even got this far. Makes me so angry to think so many clinics would have refused to treat me with my FSH and AMH and would have given me the donor egg speech. You just do not know until you try! Xxx

Wispin · 29/02/2016 13:09

Had 7 eggs collected this morning.. :) home now resting up..
