Did my first needle tonight was so nervous was about to inject myself when I dropped the needle, had to get it ready again, then I just paused when I had to inject myself hovering the needle over my stomach, I couldn't mentally do it, it was like being in a dream where you cant run any faster, I held my breath and did it, I didnt feel a thing, not even when I pushed the liquid in. Will keep posting how it all goes, would love to hear from other people..

How are you doing Hyland?

I would have preferred to be in work this week to keep busy, but as I have chronic pain from a spinal injury, and can't take any of my pain meds during a 2ww (or indeed hopefully a first trimester), I'm really struggling with pain control, and am essentially on semi bed rest. So trying to stay off bloody Google!!!

Xx

Hyland · 27/01/2016 18:47

Ha ha step away from google...

It has no answers just more questions.

More reasons for false hope and more reasons to cause you worry.

Lots of films or tv series or a book.
Easy listening music, warm milk n honey, foot spa. Magazine, crossword, fruit smoothies, On line food shop.

Keep yourself busy but relax.

I'm okay apart from sadness cloud that lingers over my partner. Ive never seen him like this. I guess men like to fix things and he feels helpless knowing he cant fix this. More annoyingly we don't really know what the issue is? He thinks he'll never have a child at this rate. It's quite a scary thought if he thinks that way.

Amara123 · 27/01/2016 22:33

Hyland. Can I ask you something? I found my first IVF cycle a complete shitshow from the point of view of side effects from the men's. How did you find the fet cycle in comparison? Any advice on how to get through it, what time to take off etc?

Amara123 · 27/01/2016 22:33

Obv I mean meds!

Hyland · 29/01/2016 20:12

I didnt drink as much water during frozen cycle so perhaps thats why i suffered from headaches more.

I think the stimulation drugs on fresh cycle is what caused most of the symptoms, bloating, general discomfort with the ovaries, moods etc.

So at least with the frozen cycle no need for gonal f.

I chose medicated frozen cycle but if i hadnt, I assume i wouldnt have had to take the Buserelin and probably would only need patches and pessaries.

Patches are very itchy (glue residue and skin cant breath)
Pessaries caused very swollen boobs

bananafish81 · 30/01/2016 00:02

I was told there were three options for FET, although most clinics seem to do 1 or 2

  1. natural FET. No meds - time transfer to the appropriate number of days post ov
  1. Full medicated FET. Down reg plus oestrogen + progesterone for full control over the cycle
  1. Non down regged medicated FET. Just using the oestrogen pills / patches to suppress ovulation and build lining (plus progesterone)

No 3 is what my consultant has recommended for me if this one doesn't stick. If it's BFN I will stop the progesterone and oestrogen, wait for AF and then restart the Progynova day 2-3.

I haven't had any side effects from the oestrogen that I can tell - I'm on 2mg three times a day. However this is for additional lining support in a stims cycle so imagine for a FET I would need a hell of a lot more.

How is everyone getting on?

bananafish81 · 31/01/2016 16:42

How are you doing Hyland?

Was v naughty. Caved and tested early - today is 8dp5dt and OTD isn't till Thu (12dp5dt)

But a very solid BFP line on a FRER!

Had tested out the trigger so it's not that. But will have to sit tight and see if it sticks...

Hyland · 31/01/2016 19:10

Well i wont say congrats just yet lol

But it's looking hopeful, keeping my fingers crossed for you x

Still unsure what to do next tbh for us. Feel like their is a wrong and right move some how!

Wispin · 02/02/2016 17:11

Hi everyone , starting my second round of Burselin tonight..they are also gona put me on the highest dose of menipur 450..cause I only had 4 eggs collected the last time..hopefully this will help more eggs mature....fingers crossed..x

hyland it's so hard to know what to do. Not that it's of any help but I genuinely don't think there are any right or wrong answers in this game. Massive sloppy hugs

wispin wishing you tonnes of luck. I was on a starting dose of 450iu Gonal-F and did well on it. Mega stims bloat after just 2 days - which abated when the dose was dropped. Hope down regging goes well

Had my first blood test today (hCG and progesterone) and results were good - second beta on Thu. So far so good, so just have to see if this one sticks...

Hyland · 02/02/2016 22:31

Wispin: wishing you the best of luck.

I will look out for you all!

Bananafish: why did they do a blood test? as your official test day isn't until Thursday is it!

Really pleased things are looking positive for you though :)

bananafish81 · 02/02/2016 22:48

I fessed up to testing early and getting two days of strong positives on HPTs and Dr said to come in for the bloods today and Thu. OTD was POAS day but I'd already misbehaved and let the cat out of the bag, so guess they thought no benefit in waiting longer if hCG was hopefully already high enough to be detected on a piss stick...

I was expecting a slap on the wrist though!

Hyland · 02/02/2016 23:09

Wow that's great news Congratulations eeeeeek so excited for you x

You may have now influenced me into bad habits lol

I have a feeling I will be testing early next time.

SeekingMiracle2 · 03/02/2016 00:05

Such great news! Praying for all to go well:)

We have also just gone through a failed IVF cycle...only managed to get 3 follicles as low AMH and unfortunately when i went in for the egg collection the scan showed that the eggs were already released as I have ovulated...feel completely shuttered. So cycle was in vain and just got my period..When calling the clinic they can only schedule appointment in 3 weeks to go through things with consultant to see what went wrong and what our options are now as due to the delay for egg collection (they pushed it back by 2 days) ovulation took place. Any advice on clinics in London area where better experience in handling patients and providing consultation/support? Anyone else on low AMH and high FSH?

bananafish81 · 03/02/2016 01:11

Seeking my FSH measured 17.6 in July and my AMH was measured at 1.5 three times. So borderline POF. I haven't cycled with either clinic but on my low AMH group on FF there are lots of women who've gone to the Lister (generally high stims) or Create (mild and natural cycle). I'm with an independent consultant who acts as a satellite to CRM Care, he said he's had pregnancies with women who've had AMH of 0.5.

So sorry you had such a poor experience - absolutely gutting to have ovulated prematurely. Were you on long or short protocol? Xx

SeekingMiracle2 · 03/02/2016 02:01

Bananafish I was on long protocol and on Gonal F meds...not sure what next steps / options are as now have to wait 3 weeks for consultation. At the same time given the luck of care on first time around not sure I can handle another round...will appreciate a more holistic experience and advice on ways to improve chances for a better response next time and avoiding early ovulation. Some clinics seem to have more frequent - closer monitoring vs scans every 2-3 days? Not sure what is the norm especially when ovary activity is low and less room for errors? Thanks for the suggestions.

bananafish81 · 03/02/2016 19:10

Seeking to be honest I’m surprised with low AMH that you were put onto a long protocol - it also sounds like you were not monitored as closely as you should have been, as there should be no danger of premature ovulation with a well managed protocol. I’m so sorry you’ve had to go through this Sad At your appointment I would def ask about a short antagonist protocol, with closer monitoring, as the Cetrotide puts the brakes onto premature ovulation in a matter of hours, vs buserelin which takes a lot lot longer to act. And possibly if the answers aren’t satisfactory, switching clinic Although normally the concern with low AMH is ending up over suppressed and not responding to stims. That said, I didn’t down regulate sufficiently on buserelin - I ovulated whilst down regging, so it was clear my body didn’t get on with it, and so we switched to short protocol after quieting my ovaries

xx

Soniaik · 03/02/2016 22:00

Hi everyone! I'm starting my first round of IVF.. My egg retrieval is on the 21st of feb! I just turned 29 on the 31st of Jan! I have one blocked tube and have been ttc for about two years now!
Extremely nervous and scared at the moment!!

Wispin · 06/02/2016 13:26

Hi Soniaik, welcome, I started my first round in November last year, I've just turned 40, had a positive result 1st time, but then had a mc just before Christmas at 3 & half weeks. Have just started my 2nd round of Burselin a few days ago..have egg collection on Feb 29th..let us know if you have any questions or how your feeling...xx

How are you getting along Wispin?

Wispin · 16/02/2016 21:14

Hi Hyland, just started my menipur tonight 450ml, found out I have a introverted womb, but this won't affect anything, I asked them what grade was the egg that they had put back in me, they said it was a 4bb , which is not bad middle of the range..I find doing the injections annoying cause I have to do it by myself..husband doesn't like needles..it's so difficult trying to push the neddle down slowly. I still have a 3 cm cyst on my left ovaries..but the egg follicles grow around it so that's ok...how are you Hyland? Xx

OP posts:
Hyland · 19/02/2016 17:17

During a scan on my frozen cycle they told me i have a cyst.

Wispin · 19/02/2016 17:33

What size is the cyst. It should be ok, I've had one through the out the process..xx
