Thank you banana and purple. That's great to know that it won't jeprodise my nhs treatment here and maybe I could do a few abroad while the whole long wait here starts hopefully I won't need to even go to that :) purple how do I private inbox?

Waitingimpatient · 15/10/2015 20:04

Just out of interest does anyone else avoid baths after ET? On my discharge sheet it said avoid hot baths and saunas etc so to be ultra careful I've only had showers since Saturday. The thing is I'd love a bath but don't want to cause any harm.
As long as it's not hot it's ok ?

MiraclesDoHappen82 · 15/10/2015 21:16

I would love a bath too but I'm scared to. I guess just warm water would be ok, but for me that takes the appeal away from having the bath lol

Waitingimpatient · 15/10/2015 21:45

I know I love hot baths! Had a very quick warm one and feel a lot better, will probably have a shower tomorrow . I just needed to relax a bit as this left sided pain has been troublesome this evening.

purplemeggie · 15/10/2015 21:59

Calcium - I'll PM you and then you just need to reply Smile

bessie84 · 16/10/2015 10:05

Wow Bessie that's a good number of follicles. You stand a good chance getting some decent eggs from them that I would of thought.

I receive a letter from my clinic this morning. One of our other 5 day blast has made it to freezing, so we now have one in the oven (me) and a little frostie Smile

MiraclesDoHappen82 · 16/10/2015 15:37

7 days till test date Smile #hurryup

Anymore symptoms yet waiting?

bananafish81 · 16/10/2015 16:11

Bessie that's fab! Maybe your follies were biding their time like mine, and just hanging on till they were ready Smile All sounds very promising!

Flower congrats on your scan, that's just wonderful news

Miracles wow, amazing news on your frostie! Keeping everything crossed for you

Ladies with previous IVF cycles - did you find your cycles were messed up afterwards? Assuming we go ahead with a FET after I've had one natural period, will be going off a natural cycle with no down regging...so just hoping that I do ovulate next month, so AF can hurry up, and we can crack on!

Waitingimpatient · 16/10/2015 16:47

Great news bessie !

I've had more spotting this afternoon, light pink though so not as bright as the other day. Still worrying though. Called my clinic and they said to let them know if it gets any heavier :(

Vixxfacee · 16/10/2015 20:26

Hi everyone,

I also had a scan today. Day 9 on stims.
I had about 20 follicles. Quite a few under 10 but lots between 10 and 15 and 2 that were 16. Going back monday to check again and hopefully egg transfer towards the middle of the week.

Doctor wants them to be at least 18 mm

Monday I had 1 at 10 mm so doing well.

Vixxfacee · 16/10/2015 20:27

Bessie we are almost on the same situation but you are about five days ahead of me. Great news :)

Osirus · 16/10/2015 23:25

Hi everyone. My consultant said that having a hot bath would probably be fine but I chose to stick to showers. I have had baths since my BFP, but have kept them on the warm side of "lukewarm" and not stayed in there too long - which is really difficult as I love long baths.

Good luck with the treatment. ??

Osirus · 16/10/2015 23:25

That was meant to be Smile

Osirus · 16/10/2015 23:30

Sorry, I forgot to say to those who asked I didn't POAS at home because they told me not to due to false negative or positive results. I was tempted but I just wouldn't let myself buy any. I don't keep any at home. My DP also didn't want me to. By the morning of my blood test I wished I had as I was so nervous waiting for that phone call. I said to my DP that if we have to do this a second time I would use a HPT first.

I would say that my test day was probably the worst part of the whole treatment as I found it very stressful.

bessie84 · 17/10/2015 08:27

vixxface - wow - we are at same part of cyle now arent we, except ive stimmed for longer. good luck. roll on monday for us.

waiting - i was thinking of you early hours of this morning (keep waking up for a wee) and was wondering, are you on any progesterone? pessaries or gestone injections? hope it goes away, i can imagine the stress it causes. big hugs.

Miracles Thanks hun, i do we get some good quality ones. 7 days will be here before you know it.

MiraclesDoHappen82 · 17/10/2015 10:01

Great news vixx sounds like the coming on well.
How are you feeling today waiting?
I'm not sleeping very well because my boobs are so sore I keep waking up because of laying on them I think, so tired Sad

Waitingimpatient · 17/10/2015 10:08

Yes I'm on cyclogest twice a day. I have absolutely no pregnancy symptoms or side effects from the progesterone at all so I don't know what to think! I feel completely totally and utterly 'normal'

The only thing I don't have is horrendous pmt like I usually do each month !

Very very tempted to POAS as a lady on a fb page I'm on had her transfer the same day and is already getting faint lines so I'm tempted ....feel I should wait though as it's still early.

MiraclesDoHappen82 · 17/10/2015 10:22

Good your not getting any crazy side affects waiting. I usually suffer sore boobs and acne the later part of my cycle and have the same now only stronger because of progesterone, I figure I am sensitive to progesterone. Iv read many many articles on the net that say many people get no pregnancy symptoms at all. I don't think my symptoms are pregnancy I think they are a result of the pessaries.
Please don't test yet if it's to early to show up you'll get disheartened. Maybe leave for 4 days then see

Waitingimpatient · 17/10/2015 11:15

I was expecting all sorts ! Tiredness, nausea, sore boobs etc and nothing. I had also read how awfully messy cyclogest was but it hasn't been that bad, at first I worried maybe I'd used them wrong somehow!

Had no cramps or spotting so far today so feeling positive. Spent the morning looking online for Christmas bits and bobs to distract myself a bit!

MiraclesDoHappen82 · 17/10/2015 11:48

That's good. I'm going shopping today then me and DP taking my niece and nephew to the zoo tomorrow to take mind off things.

Iv heard the pessaries are messy when using front ways. I'm using back passage so not getting any mess myself other than when go to the toilet so that's good.

Also I was told by acupuncturist to keep feet warm ie don't let them get cold as the cold can enter the uterus. So bed sock when I'm in the house and thick socks when I go out.

So glad for you that you've had no more spotting. I'm convinced that must have been implantation bleeding. I can imagine it's very scary though either way.

Keep your chin up waiting and stay positive Thanks

Waitingimpatient · 17/10/2015 12:13

Thank you, so nice to be able to 'chat' with people who understand!

I've been doing the warm feet thing too (mine are usually freezing so been wearing socks and slippers inside all the time!) it was also recommended by my acupuncturist he also told me to eat lots of protein and warm foods and stick to a low GI diet (but I did have a few cookies this morning !)

JessieMcJessie · 17/10/2015 17:34

Quick highlights from my follow-up consultation with the IVF clinic yesterday. this was after our first round of IVF failed, despite having 2 8 cell embryos transferred at day 3. We saw the Big Boss consultant who is very eminent in the field. Extremely nice, encouraging but realistic:

  • 4 eggs not so bad for my age/ AMH (just turned 42/3.3)
  • good that 3 fertilised but apparently fertilisation is no real indication of egg quality - even rubbish eggs will generally fertilise *most likely reason it failed was that the eggs were chromosmally abnormal so the embryos stopped developing. This is to be expected with age.
  • It's unlikely that they'd have been good embryos but not implanted.
  • (this is fascinating) in women with only one tube natural fertility does not always decline by 50%. It tends to go down to 70%. They believe that the tube ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE can sometimes pick up the egg from the ovary next to the blocked tube!
  • next time we try (in November as they recommend 2 months between cycles) I will have more drugs (450 gonal-f daily, up from 300) in the hope of stimulating more eggs and they may get enough to be able to keep them outside the body for 5 days and so let the strongest ones self-select.
  • fresh transfer always better than from frozen in his opinion. *Taking into account all my specific factors, we have a 20% chance of success on any one IVF cycle and 5% in a "natural" month.

Since the last try I have started taking DHEA and co- enzyme Q10 so am hoping for some effect on egg quality. I admit I didn't tell the consultant about the DHEA though, was afraid he'd berate me for doing things I read off the internet.

Waitingimpatient · 18/10/2015 09:19

Hi jessie that all sounds really promising. It's good they give you a % chance of success on IVF cycle/natural cycle. I did an online success predictor quiz but not sure it's accurate!

I've heard good things about DHEA and co enzyme q10 too so fingers crossed they help you

patch77 · 18/10/2015 15:16

This is crap. Started bleeding Friday done a digital test this morning. Not pregnant anymore gutted.
