Oh, Icsi - I'm sorry to hear you've had this to deal with at a time that you just need people to be kind, understanding and, well, competent would be a good start. Glad you got it started, but blimey, you could have done without that!

How are you doing, Jessie?

Hi Yellow. Everyone's protocols are different, depending odtn age, dose, how they respond etc., I just flipped back through some of my old drugs charts and took my stims for around 11 days, but I was never on a purely Gonal-F regime. I only had Gonal-F for the last four days of my last cycle, and I'd been taking Menopur before that.

So. I caved in and tested today, because I've been having some interesting sensations in my uterus. It was a bfn, but OTD is not until next Monday, so I've decided to ignore it. I'm reasonably calm. Possibly because, with my rubbish lining I wasn't really expecting this cycle to work anyway. Holding onto the thought of those frosties...

lildottie · 24/09/2015 08:30

icsi it sucks how incompetent people can be. Hopefully that's the end of it and its now all sorted though. I sent a shitty letter off with cheque to pay for my drugs as I refused to pay 2 £18 dispensing charges because the hospital staff in fc and pharmacy both screwed up! Had a balance reminder yesterday which I'm ignoring!

purple how many days past what day transfer are you? Sounds too early if otd is Monday to me. I got a stupidly faint bfp early but it was still the equivalent of 12dpo so not that early. And I had been testing daily. Fx its just too early for you

lildottie · 24/09/2015 09:15

Wow, they called nice and early today. All 5 are still going, though one is a bit fragmented and I'm booked in for et tomorrow!

IcsiWitsyBabyPlsGetUpMySpout · 24/09/2015 10:24

Woo Dottie sounds like you're doing well! Go embies, go!!

purple you're definitely too early! Keep those legs crossed and test at the weekend.

Given that I started bleeding at 5dpt, I am going to ask about alternative progesterone support at my follow up. My understanding is that cyclogest should have delayed my period and it didn't at all. I started bleeding on the day I would have if my period was due as normal (no ivf drugs), and 10 days after EC- my luteal phase has never been less than 13 days in 2 years of tracking so I think maybe I wasn't absorbing the progesterone. Any got any thoughts/experience on this?

lildottie · 24/09/2015 11:01

icsi what dose were you on and how were you taking? I am on 400mg twice a day. I do them rectally because its much less messy/less leaky than vaginally and that makes me feel I'm absorbing it better, even though I have no evidence of this!
It could be something else though. Even the cyclogest didn't stop my mc bleed starting last time.

IcsiWitsyBabyPlsGetUpMySpout · 24/09/2015 12:00

I was on 400mg twice a day (1 x bum bullet as I affectionately call them). I took them rectally as well, less hassle and mess. Just seemed strange to bleed so early and when I called to discuss the nurse was pretty insistent that it couldn't be a period as it was too early. It was definitely my period tho!

lildottie · 24/09/2015 12:03

I'm sure I read a post on mn somewhere about someone who didn't think they were absorbing it properly but their clinic were dismissive. It could be worth some research. Hopefully shell will pop along at some point, she's researched everything!

Floweroct2 · 24/09/2015 12:19

icsi I have been on 2x 400mg too but since transfer I've also been on gestone injections to ensure I'm getting enough perhaps it's worth asking about this? I have to say I didn't really ask many questions I was happy to take anything!

Trixielilac11 · 24/09/2015 12:22

Hope the first injection went ok Cuppa I found I was fine once I got the first one out of the way, in fact I actually started to look forward to doing them as it felt like one step closer.

Yellow I think dose/how long you take it totally depend on how you respond. I have pco and was supposed to be on a fairly low dose for 13 days but it ended up being 10 days.

Purple definitely too early, will be thinking of you on Monday.

Yikes Icsi sounds like the nurse at your clinic is in the wrong job. I didn't start bleeding after my failed cycle until I stopped progesterone. I had done my morning pessary on test day then stopped it and withdrawal bleed started the next day.

My clinic have started doing a blood test before transfer to check progesterone levels so I am due to go in tomorrow morning ahead of transfer on Monday. Depending on the results they then may give me progesterone tablets.

Good news about your embryos lildottie good luck with transfer tomorrow.

purplemeggie · 24/09/2015 15:49

That's Great Lil fingers crossed for tomorrow and beyond.

Icsi I got spotting for a few days before OTD when I was on cyclogest - I think I was on 800mg per day - I'll check when I get home as I have a bit of a stockpile of IVF drugs from different stages of the journey - you never know when you'll have the same thing prescribed again ! The Czech clinic uses Utrogestan and although it's messier (and can only be taken vaginally or orally, not rectally), I have never had any spotting in spite of being on half the dose and I have fewer side effects too. The dreaded bum bullets used To give me terrible muscle stiffness and aching at night.

Vixxfacee · 24/09/2015 17:57

I'm due to start taking the progynova tonight. I have had some (tmi) brownish spotting like I'm coming on my period. I called the hospital and they said take a pregnancy test and if it's negative then still take it. Doesn't make sense to me if it's meant to be taken on day 24 of cycle.

Feel like it's failed before i have even started.

Hyland · 24/09/2015 23:22

start my first injection in just a few days eeeeek!

oh wow i hope it works

soooo much money and trying for just under 4 years

staying calm at work may be tricky with it being a stressful environment and i cant tell them without everyone then knowing.

Shellster52 · 25/09/2015 00:12

Sorry lil I am back. I don't have any answers for Icsi unfortunately. Not something I researched as it was not my issue. In my non professional opinion though Icsi, I know that when I had a blood test after a failed IVF my prog was low, it was really high after a successful cycle despite taking same pessaries both times. So I can't imagine the lack of absorption would be the reason as I do think that your natural progesterone should still kick in and the extra is just a 'belts and braces' approach as my clinic put it. You say that you bled at the time you would in a normal cycle, yet your luteal phase was short - I assume that means that you had EC later than you would ovulate in a natural cycle. Perhaps this could be part of the issue. I know I've read studies showing that premature progesterone rises before egg collection correlate negatively with a positive outcome, I assume because the uterus is changing to the secretory phase too early and out of sync with the timing of the embryo's life when it is transferred so that the uterus is not withing the 48 hour (give or take) embryo receptive stage. Did they track your progesterone levels before egg collection?

lil you had EC on Tuesday right? So the fact that 5 are alive on day 2 this time as opposed to 2 despite starting with less fertilised eggs really is a good sign that your eggs are NOT as 'shit' as you think they are! I have read studies showing different protocols have definite effects on egg quality so I'm really hoping that your stead dose this time has helped. However, I can totally understand your cautiousness after your last experience. So this will be a day 3 transfer? And will they grow any remaining embryos on to day 5? Looking forward to hearing after your transfer. It's been such a build up to this point.

purple, I just feel frustrated for you that you did something different this cycle in taking a month of antibiotics and are now left wondering if your disappearing lining is to blame and would this cycle have worked otherwise. As the others say, it could very well be too early and the 'interesting uterine sensations' sounds promising, but being an experienced failed IVF trooper myself, I also understand the numbing disappointment of a BFN and my heart goes out to you.

purplemeggie · 25/09/2015 11:52

Thank you Shell. How are you doing? How many weeks now? X

bananafish81 · 25/09/2015 13:27

Silly question, oh IVF experts of Mumsnet. Does massive bloating bear any relation to how many follicles you've got? I've got my first scan tomorrow so I'll find out one way or the other, but curious if (predicted) poor responders can get bloated even if there are very few follicles ie is it the meds rather than the follicles that cause the bloating? I'm 3 days of stims in and my belly is so swollen I look 4 months pregnant - DH joked I'll be getting people offering me a seat on the tube at this rate! I'm on the sledgehammer dose of Gonal-F cos of my prematurely ageing ovaries, so I'm assuming it's the drugs rather than that my ovaries have gone off like rockets....but just wondered what you ladies thought. Will know more tomorrow but obv I'm an impatient so and so! X

bessie84 · 25/09/2015 14:26

BANANA - id say its a good thing that your bloated, good sign you have plenty of eggys. good luck with your scan.

i had endo scratch this morning. procedure wasnt as bad as i thought, scared myself shitless with reading crap on here, really wasnt bad. period pains now, but all is ok.

ive been on metformin a week now, dont like it, feel really sick. but if it helps, then so be it. only 2 more days of norethisterone to do and then af should arrive next week and we're starting stimms next saturday. eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeekkkkkkkkkkkk.

hope everyones ok.

waves

hi shell, hope little bump is going good

lildottie · 25/09/2015 14:32

banana the bigger my follicles got the more bloated I felt. It may be a combination of both the meds and Folly's. Fx its a good sign for you.

shell you mean you haven't researched everything! You shock me! ;)

So I'm Pupo! 2 good quality embryos transferred, 1 seems to have stopped growing, and the other 2 are being looked at again tomorrow to see if worth freezing.
The tww begins!

bessie84 · 25/09/2015 14:39

eeeeeeeekkk lildottie congratulations on been pupo! eeeeeeekkk.

Congrats on being PUPO lildottie - hope they’re nice and sticky and keeping fx you’ll have some more on ice

Thanks ladies re: the bloating. I’ll find out more tomorrow at my first scan. My AMH/FSH were so crap that I’m expected to be a very poor responder. I only had 5 antral follicles last month - but I don't dare to think that after only 3 days of stims I’ve got (m)any follies raring to go, so I'd assumed it must just be a side effect of the high stims. But a girl can dream!!

xx

Floweroct2 · 26/09/2015 09:49

Yay for being pupo lildottie

Hope scan goes well today banana

lucieloos · 26/09/2015 10:54

Hello, haven't posted on here for a while but just wanted to say congrats to lil for being pupo and good luck to purple. I'm due to start my next round tomorrow. I'm doing embryo banking. We have 2 blasts in the freezer at the moment and hoping for a couple more to join them after this round.

Osirus · 26/09/2015 11:15

Hi everyone. I've not been on here since before I started my injections as it seemed to cause me more stress. I had two embryos transferred yesterday though, after retrieving 8 eggs and having 6 fertilise. I'm not sure what will happen to the remainder, I will find out early next week. I had my transfer done on day 2. Now for the long wait!

bananafish81 · 26/09/2015 12:08

Consultant is v pleased, four 11mm follies, couple of very small ones but realistically looking at hopefully 3-4 eggs. My FSH results suggested I wouldn't respond at all so he's v happy to see something going on there - and esp because they're all evenly sized, so nothing's gone racing off gobbling up all the stims (yet). As I've responded better than expected he's reduced my dose to 300iu, and started the Cetrotide today. Bloating seems just to be the shock to the system of the drugs to my pre menopausal ovaries, and no cause for concern. Obv I would have loved to have seen tonnes of follies but as I didn't have them in the starting block to begin with, I was never going to get many. So. We shall see what happens at the next scan...

lildottie · 26/09/2015 14:32

Excellent news banana. I know its not the miracle you hoped for but that's still rally good considering your diminished reserve. The numbers aren't everything don't forget, quality is what's important. I had more fertilised last time and lost all of them by day except the ones transferred and mc. and this time I've got two inside me and 3 still growing on day 4 - 100% of what fertilised! It's just pot luck! Really hope the consistency is a good sign that they are strong eggs for you.

ois sounds like we'll have same otd!

lildottie · 26/09/2015 14:33

ois was supposed to be osi!
