Would you be my Infertility/Clomid/Follicle tracking friend please?!

Hi there ladies

I’m really looking for a ‘clomid friend’ or ‘infertility pal’!

I’m 30, DH is 38. I came off the pill July 2013 to regulate my cycles and ended 15yrs of antidepressants in March 2014 as I’d read that was the best plan if possible.

I’d been having regular 27/30day cycles since I came off the pill but after no positive tests, buying OPKs and the Clearblue Advanced Fertility Monitor, plus charting temps and monitoring my cervix and mucus it quickly became apparent that I wasn’t ovulating. After all the blood tests, sperm analysis, trans-vaginal scans and the HSG it showed that he was fine but I wasn’t ovulating, but there was not obvious reason why.

Fast forward to now, 2yrs since coming off the pill, I have been prescribed clomid and have taken my first 5 tablets. I’m day 12 today and have been having follicle tracking to check if the drugs have worked. My largest follicle was 16.4mm today and have to go back on Wednesday to check it again.

Do any of you know if that’s a good size? Or have any experiences of being further down the clomid path? Or are you in a similar position? I just feel like I’m going out of my mind and could really use a buddy!

Thanks for reading and hugs to you all. Interested in hearing from any of you xxx

Science, I've just bought a test. I'm going to give in and test tomorrow morning.

Still don't have any symptoms.

Vap0 · 26/07/2015 06:49

Morning!
Argh! Totally forgot to buy a lottery ticket.
Did your faint line show up in the time limit?
I think even if it's a very faint line then it will be a +
Can you send us a picture of it?
Yes it is very possible for a + to not show up until after 14dpo. What is the sensitivity of your tests?
Just tested again 12dpo and bfn.
finding have you tested yet? Any news?

scienceteachergeek · 26/07/2015 07:40

Well there's certainly no chance of a BFP now. Period arrived this morning. Not crying, just very sad. Surely the cramps, the pink and the faint line meant something? Even if you ignore the sore nipples. That test is in the UK but I'll take a photo when I'm back. Should have known really when it didn't get darker! Maybe something attached then changed its mind!?

Woken up with a cold too! Sad

Onto next month on the lovely clomid. Very best of luck to you two Flowers

Oh no! Sorry to hear that! Such a shame! It was all sounding so hopeful. I hope you can enjoy the rest of your holiday now with a good few drinks to take your mind off it.

I've kind of psyched myself up for af arriving on Wednesday/Thursday now, just want to get started on cycle 23 and know it's only 5 more cycles until they book me in for ivf!

eaiand2 · 26/07/2015 08:30

I know I'm probably not the right person to chime in on this thread, as I'm not on clomid, but I just wanted reassure you that a bfn is time around isn't the end- 2/3 of fertilised eggs don't implant, and not all eggs will even be fertilised if you do DTD at the right time, which is why even couple without infertility issues will take on average 4-6 months to conceive. What matter is that you know you responded to the clomid, you had a good sized follicle, which means a mature egg, but that egg probably just didn't get to become a healthy blastocyst and implant. The next one might!

scienceteachergeek · 26/07/2015 10:56

Thank you both xx

I feel that eaiand2 you were definitely the right person to 'chime in on the thread'. Many thanks.

In period pain agony missing all the sun but opened the bastard tampon box now and might even step outside!

Sorry to hear that Science.

I got a bfn this morning. It was my last cycle of clomid and I have an appointment for IVF at the end of September. I guess I still have another two cycles. I just hope I ovulate without clomid.

scienceteachergeek · 26/07/2015 17:47

I hope you do Finding. Maybe it'll have sort of reset your body into working properly. I'd be very interested in seeing if you ovulate without it. Plus, as one of you said, it's not over until AF arrives. What dosage clomid have you been on?

NewLeafExpat · 26/07/2015 18:16

Hi Finding, Science and wave to Vap!

Just read thru your thread and sorry to u for your AF arriving on hols but as Vap said you can have a cocktail or two and enjoy the holiday, onto the next cycle.

I will be joining this thread: TTC#1 31yo, Actively TTC for 18 months with high prolactin and unexplained infertility, clomid cycle 2 (100mg) CD16 and on ovulation watch!!!

Still FX for u Vap..

findingmyfeet12 · 26/07/2015 19:07

I had three cycles of 100 mg clomid.

Although I've had a bfn, I have a horrid taste in my mouth and have just vomited. I've no idea what's going on.

Vap0 · 26/07/2015 19:59

Hi newleaf Smile
Any news on a + opk?
When will you test again?
I'll poas again in the morning but really not expecting anything...
finding that's interesting....have you eaten anything dodgy? Is it a metallic taste? Could be a good sign ????

findingmyfeet12 · 26/07/2015 20:10

It isn't a metallic taste and I've not eaten anything dodgy ( at least I don't think I have).

I know this will sound odd but I feel like I've been eating house plants Blush

Vap0 · 27/07/2015 08:34

Another day another negative in the vap household.
Have you tested today finding?
newleaf any news on ovulation?
science hope you are enjoying your holiday Smile

findingmyfeet12 · 27/07/2015 10:07

Sorry about your bfn Vap.

I haven't tested today. I don't feel sick anymore. I'm going to try to wait it out. I don't have access to cheap tests and the clearblue are just too expensive for frequent testing.

birchygoo · 27/07/2015 15:13

Hi all, I have been lurking for a while.I also know some of you from other threads.

I am due to start clomid on my next cycle. Currently 5 dpo. Not expecting any bfp this month as ovulated really early so think I missed it.

My cycles range from 25 days - 39 days so consultant put me on clomid for 3 months as he says even though GP test show Im ovulating I may not always be.

Has anyone else used Clomid even though they think they are ovulating and what should I expect from Clomid? Did you have any side affects?I will be on 50mg

scienceteachergeek · 27/07/2015 16:28

Hi to all you lovely new people.

My holiday is lovely, just wish it was taking my mind off things. Bleeding waay more than normal and still in so much pain.

NewLeaf...do you use OPKs? I highly recommend my CB gadget.

Finding...i hope you haven't actually been eating house plants. I laughed out loud on the beach when I read that!

Vap0...keep the faith girl.

Birchy....i just get vaginal dryness as a side effect. I have to use preseed when ovulating.

Looking forward to any news from you lot tomorrow. It's day 2 for me so just popped my first clomid tablet of round 2.

OP posts:
scienceteachergeek · 27/07/2015 16:31

Birchy, just a thought...just watch out for superovulation. Any severe pain get straight to A&E. If your body wants to ovulate anyway and your taking clomid you could end up with lots of follicles which could be painful. X

OP posts:
findingmyfeet12 · 27/07/2015 17:46

Hello Birchy, I also experienced dryness and ended up getting thrush because of it.

Aside from that I've also gained quite a bit of weight. It's everywhere but my stomach and hips are particularly big.

The first two cycles were pretty difficult for me as I had severe heartburn and couldn't sleep. It was recommended to me to take the clomid at night but it just meant that I was exhausted during the day through lack of sleep. By the third cycle I'd stopped having the heartburn and sleeplessness.

birchygoo · 27/07/2015 21:54

aggh I feel quite scared of taking it! consultant never told me any of these things!

when is normally recommended to take it?

I really can't be doing wit putting on more weight - I've weight to lose if I need ivf (which I'm hoping I'm not)

Vap0 · 27/07/2015 22:41

So, mega pains this afternoon and already started spotting, af Is well on her way! Let's get this show on the road! Wasn't supposed to start until Thursday but the sooner the better as far as I'm concerned!

birchygoo · 27/07/2015 23:06

are you taking clomid vap0

Vap0 · 27/07/2015 23:56

finding is it possible to get Amazon to deliver to you? If so they are super cheap.

Hi birchy welcome Smile no I'm not on clomid. They won't give me anything until I start ivf in roughly 9 months time Sad. I get positive opk's each month but have never had it confirmed by a blood test but the dr's don't seem too fussed in checking me with blood tests so I presume opk's must be fairly accurate? Although your Dr doesn't trust your tests? What tests is it he doesn't trust?

Even though I knew it wasn't going to happen this month in still pretty gutted with the spotting!

findingmyfeet12 · 28/07/2015 05:13

Yes I'll look into getting a delivery from Amazon.

I'm feeling as though af is imminent and I'm gutted too Vap.

Birchy, I wasn't told about the weight gain and other things either. In fact I think I read about it online and then on the leaflet that came with the medication. I had a reasonably flat stomach but it's now so bloated that I'm afraid people will assume I'm pregnant Confused

birchygoo · 28/07/2015 07:19

I'm Sri af came vap0! it's always devastating!

finding I'm hoping af stays away!

I had my day 3 and day 21 blood tests which showed ovulation. he said as my cycles range so much he wanted to try clomid first as tests on not be representative and that I may not have ovulating some months

Vap0 · 28/07/2015 09:04

AF arrived with a vengeance in the night. Cycle 23 here we go! Going to miss the 1st 3 days of my fertile period though as dp is away! Boo! Really hoping I don't ovulate early again or we will miss this month...

So birch your Dr isn't even happy when your blood tests say you ovulated? That's mad. I'm getting a bit bothered mine accept just the positive ic Opk.
finding any news on af?
