Would you be my Infertility/Clomid/Follicle tracking friend please?!

Hi there ladies

I’m really looking for a ‘clomid friend’ or ‘infertility pal’!

I’m 30, DH is 38. I came off the pill July 2013 to regulate my cycles and ended 15yrs of antidepressants in March 2014 as I’d read that was the best plan if possible.

I’d been having regular 27/30day cycles since I came off the pill but after no positive tests, buying OPKs and the Clearblue Advanced Fertility Monitor, plus charting temps and monitoring my cervix and mucus it quickly became apparent that I wasn’t ovulating. After all the blood tests, sperm analysis, trans-vaginal scans and the HSG it showed that he was fine but I wasn’t ovulating, but there was not obvious reason why.

Fast forward to now, 2yrs since coming off the pill, I have been prescribed clomid and have taken my first 5 tablets. I’m day 12 today and have been having follicle tracking to check if the drugs have worked. My largest follicle was 16.4mm today and have to go back on Wednesday to check it again.

Do any of you know if that’s a good size? Or have any experiences of being further down the clomid path? Or are you in a similar position? I just feel like I’m going out of my mind and could really use a buddy!

Thanks for reading and hugs to you all. Interested in hearing from any of you xxx

Hi

Yes, make sure you take it, go and get it now! Sorry to be bossy but I read somewhere it is best if you take it for a few months before conceiving so you are topped up. If I was you I'd call the dr's and tell them about your brother (assuming he is a biological sibling) and they may suggest you take a double dose. Please don't take my word for double dosing though.

Nothing worse than af on holiday is there! Hope she comes and goes quick, or even better, just doesn't come at all!! Grin

No symptoms apart from a bit of cramping yesterday but I just sometimes get that for no reason?

Dp is a teacher too! So jealous! He has been spending the time playing on the wii games console he fought the other day.

Good luck for your poas tomorrow! Hope af stays away! Think I'll be joining you with the poas tomorrow...

scienceteachergeek · 22/07/2015 20:18

I've had a folic acid tablet! Bought some expensive ones with seemingly everything I could ever need in terms of vitamins!

Sore nipples tonight, sore to touch, not by themselves. Last nights cramps have left me with a generally hard stomach...usually I'm a little squidgy! I have found a little bit of pink staining on my pad tonight. Really struggling to calm down about the whole thing! I'd had ignored all of these things if I hadn't been in this situation.

I've bought tampons to put in my suitcase, that made me sad Sad

So excited about us POAS tomorrow!

Woo! Well done on the folic acid! Pink!
This sounds promising!
Could be implantation! I think that happens between 7-11 days after conception so may be good timing. Really hope that is the case and it's not af on her way.
I'll bet you'll be up at about 5 in the morning poas! Haha
I'll be the same. Grin
Fingers crossed for us both Flowers
Although no symptoms here apart from a little cramping but don't think that has anything to do with anything.

scienceteachergeek · 23/07/2015 00:03

Oooooo, you're SO right. NHS Choices website says if there's a family history of spina bifida I do have to take more folic acid. You legend! I will call my docs tomorrow. He was my older brother but he died, not sure if Mum took folic acid, don't want to ask her really either!

She always joked about the fact she thought I'd struggle to have my own children, so charming eh?! I haven't told her anything about my actual struggles, she'd only say, 'I knew you would!'. She's coming to visit tomorrow so DH and I have cleared the house of all TTC paraphernalia!

Bed now...still making pink in my pants! Night night x

Ooh, Good! The doctors will be able to give you more guidance.
Any poas this morning?
I just did but nothing.
Still early for me at 9dpo.

findingmyfeet12 · 23/07/2015 07:57

I'm new to this thread. I'm in my tww after my third cycle of clomid.

I know I ovulated this cycle and we dtd at the right times (pillow under bum and legs in the air after etc).

This is my last cycle and I have an appointment in September to get the ball rolling for IVF.

Vap0 · 23/07/2015 08:00

P.s. Boo about your mum!
My mum is crap too! She just blames me for being on the depo for too long. In fact so does dp. It would be nice to have a little understanding rather than judgements. I am being punished by my own body enough (by not being able to conceive), then the dr's (by not giving me anything to help) and then have it from 2 people close to me??? And worst still... The reason for it all is because I was being responsible and not having 10 kids with no way to pay for them??
So frustrating! I wish I hadn't told my mum. Luckily she doesn't ask about it and I don't mention it, it was so long ago I told her I think she probably thinks we aren't bothering anymore.
My gran was the best/worst however you want to look at it. She popped out 5 kids in her youth. She said to me a few months ago"so, when are you going to have a baby then? Time's running out you know. You'd Better get on with it"
Brilliant! Thanks!

Any way, moving on from my rant....
Let me know what your Dr said about how much folic acid you should take.

Vap0 · 23/07/2015 08:04

Hi finding welcome! How many dpo are you? How long have you been trying?

If you are unsuccessful this cycle do you have to wait before you start ivf? Are you on the waiting list already? How long is the waiting list in your area? Will they give you anything in between if you have to wait a few months? How has the clomid worked for you, have you ovulated each time? Did you ovulate before taking it?

Sorry to bombard you with questions, I'm so nosey!

findingmyfeet12 · 23/07/2015 08:24

I'm 35 years old and we've been ttc for over 7 years.

I'm not sure about the waiting list as we live in France. I guess we'll find out about it all in September.

I was oy given three cycles of clomid as my dr didn't want to waste too much time before starting IVF.

I'm 7dpo and have had no spotting or any symptoms at all.

Vap0 · 23/07/2015 08:32

Gosh! 7 years is a long time! Is this your 1st?
Good news they want to get things moving ASAP!
I think it's because I'm "only" 33 that they haven't progressed into ivf any quicker.
7dpo? You are only a couple of days behind me Smile
When will you poas?
When is af due?

findingmyfeet12 · 23/07/2015 08:34

Ad is due about 29th. I'm not sure if I'll poas - I usually just wait it out.

When will you poas?

findingmyfeet12 · 23/07/2015 08:34

Af!

findingmyfeet12 · 23/07/2015 08:36

I forgot to add, yes it's our first.

Vap0 · 23/07/2015 17:24

science how have you got on?
Hope all is ok!
finding I poas this morning at 9dpo, will poas again tomorrow

scienceteachergeek · 24/07/2015 00:03

Well Ladies (welcome finding)

The doctors have given me a super dose of folic acid to take thanks to you Vap0! I can collect the prescription tomorrow...trouble is that I think I may be getting some unwanted side effects from just the regular dose. I have had awful diarrhoea today, apparently this can be attributed to folic acid. I'm obviously going to carry on taking them but a 12day holiday with the shits isn't what I was hoping for!

Mum was nice today, even talked about the spina bifida, apparently back then there was no proven link between the two so nobody took folic acid in the 80s.

Nipples are now pretty sore to touch...although maybe it's because I keep touching them to check! POAS was still negative this morning but my positivity is rising! Vap0 I never want you to predict what time I wake up to POAS again.....I GENUINELY woke up bang on 5am, the exact time you said I'd POAS. You wrote, "I'll bet you'll be up at about 5 in the morning poas! Haha"

Maybe, as you can clearly predict the future you should tell us that in 9months we'll all be holding our first baby?! Or, maybe the lottery numbers so we can all go privately for our IVF and get it now!!!! :)

Happy thoughts ladies, happy thoughts, it's going to be OUR month.

So, until tomorrow xx

P.S. I don't know how you have coped for 7yrs finding x

findingmyfeet12 · 24/07/2015 07:25

Well this morning my gums bled when I brushed my teeth. Not sure if this is a symptom or not. I do (very rarely) have bleeding gums so it could just be a cruel coincidence.

The bleeding was only in one spot in my mouth (if that makes sense).

Vap0 · 24/07/2015 09:03

Morning!
So pleased you got your folic acid sorted Grin
Well on that note of predicting the future I think I'll buy myself a lottery ticket for tonight and actually pick the numbers instead of my usual lucky dip Wink
I've never heard of side effects from folic acid, that is terrible luck, especially as you are going to be on a stronger dose!
Where are you going on holiday? Is it today you are going! Will you be keeping in touch when you're away or will there be no internet?
So pleased your mum was helpful, yeah I think it is a relatively new thing this folic acid malarkey!

10dpo today and bfn, I know it's early but I'm already feeling a wave of disappointment coming over me Sad

finding not heard of gum bleeding as a symptom but our bodies do funny things... Who knows? Do you have any ic's or anything to test with?

scienceteachergeek · 24/07/2015 12:46

We are going to Majorca, just feel so lucky we didn't book Tunisia or one of the more 'high risk' areas. Yes, we fly tonight at 8.25, very excited! Unfortunately I've had to pack a box of ovulation sticks, a box of pregnancy test sticks, my little fertility monitor, my clomid tablets, folic acid and a box of tampons! Taken up far too much space.

The reason for yesterdays optimism was that after looking back at yesterdays strip about an hour later there was a very very faint line. I know it's not supposed to be read that late but I read about a doctor saying a line is a line no matter when it comes up. Nothing today though...not even a faint line...not even one I could create in my head!

Feeling very disappointed today, especially seeing how much stuff I'm taking with me. I'd have packed none of it if that sodding second line had popped up this morning. I was up at 5.47 this morning filled with excitement to POAS :(

Although I'll be in sunny Spain I will still be in contact. Couldn't imagine 10days without you guys or facebook check-ins to make my family jealous!

It's highly unlikely but if something goes wrong and I can't message while I'm away then I wish you all the luck in the world ladies xx Flowers

Enjoy your holiday Science. Despite your BFN It's not over until af makes an appearance.

scienceteachergeek · 24/07/2015 15:50

Nope, you're right Finding! Not over until it's over....keep the dream alive!! Haha!

I did have that 'implantation stain' and the cramps the day before. Nipples not so sore today though :( just so gutted yesterdays line hasn't got stronger. Even did two IC tests at the same time this morning. I guess I'm 12days dpo today so see what the next few days brings. It would be rather wonderful to be on holiday and get a BFP.

Probably wouldn't be able to tell my DH the way I'd planned though. Wanted/want him to come home from work, tell him I've cooked him something, then get him to get it out the oven, in there would be a bun with the stick popping out!

Thanks for the good holiday wishes Finding. I'll be sure to let you know what happens and will be eagerly looking to see how you two are getting on too xx

OP posts:
Vap0 · 24/07/2015 23:23

Enjoy Majorca Grin
I like the optimism! Also the "pink" is another very good sign as af didn't turn up straight after! Hope you let us know if you test again in the morning. I will be 11dpo tomorrow and testing the second I wake up! There is nothing like testing to get you up and out of bed early!
Haha! Like your idea to break it to dh!

Vap0 · 25/07/2015 05:57

Tested this morning at 5.45 bfn 11dpo.
Back off to bed!

findingmyfeet12 · 25/07/2015 10:10

Sorry about your bfn Vap. Maybe a little early to test?

I'm going to try to hold out a few more days before testing. I don't have any tests at home which helps!

scienceteachergeek · 25/07/2015 13:43

I hope Vap0 and I don't corrupt you into always having test lying around and testing every morning!!

Majorca is stunning but I won't make you guys jealous!

Tested this morning, same faint line showing up after a while. Not getting darker though. Still, not had to open the tampon box yet Smile

Let's turn these BFNs into BFPs Smile

OP posts:
scienceteachergeek · 25/07/2015 21:32

So tomorrow I'll be 14dpo. I think unless my little gadget says something else other than 'not pregnant' I'm going to throw the test away immediately. It's just giving me false hope. My body should have made enough of the hormone it needs to create that second line by then surely? You heard of anyone getting a BFP after 14dpo?

Vap0, you won the lottery? X
