Any on looking to start ivf/icsi in the new year?

Just wondering if anyone would like to keep me company and share the ivf/icsi journey. DH and I are both 35 years old and have been trying to conceive our first child for 10months. DH has lowish sperm motility and I have a low amh (7.24). We haven't had any luck so far and so the next step will be ivf with icsi in the new year. We are thinking of starting end of feb or march. Would be great to share the journey with others in similar situations and hopefully make some friends along the way Smile

Thanks Warrior, it's all such a mind field of information! I resisted the urge to call the clinic this afternoon as I'm sure they would call me if they had any concerns.

I meant to ask if you are still tender from EC? I'm still quite crampy and swollen especially after I eat.

I'm having a tiny glass of red tonight as this will be my last for a while I hope. I'm not looking forward to the 2ww but hopefully you will be keeping me company x

mrswishywashy · 04/02/2015 20:29

Just dropping in. Sending everyone positive vibes.

AFM. Third night of gonal f and menopur and am very puffy especially as the day goes on. Am drinking at least 2.5 litres but tomorrow might up my protein and see if that helps. I'm not working so the days are quite long, not sure I'll last another three weeks not working.

Persipan · 04/02/2015 21:51

Egg collection is all booked for Friday morning - I trigger tonight at 10. They reckoned they might potentially get up to 10 eggs out of me, and were once again very complimentary about my endometrium, so that's all pretty positive...

BadgerFace · 05/02/2015 06:51

Good luck today makingdoo! I hope you enjoyed your glass of wine last night. I remember having a glass before my ET and it was so lovely!

warrior your 4 embys sound like they are doing well! I guess you hear this morning whether they are transferring today or holding out to blastos for Saturday? Exciting stuff!

Have you made any plans Mrs WW? Cinema outings maybe? The days are definitely long otherwise although in your line of work being off is a great idea from a resting point of view. Are there any local parks/castles/forests you could explore? I think gentle exercise might help with the puffiness as it would help circulation but I could easily be wrong!

How was your trigger shot Persipan? 10 potential eggs is great!

I felt I reached a mini-milestone last night in finishing a vial of Buserelin - 1 down, 2 to go! Very positive to hear of all the lovely womb linings on our thread as that's the bit I need to go well... So if anyone's got any tips on how to help it grow let me know!!

makingdoo · 05/02/2015 09:25

Hi MrsWW, I was really puffy too but no real advice on how to combat it. I second making plans and getting out and about. I'm down to 3 days working but think if have drove myself mad if I hadn't something to do.

That's all very positive Persipan, 10 eggs would be fab. How'd your Trigger go?

Badger I know that feeling. I was always very happy to finish a vial, it feels like things are getting somewhere!

I'm a little nervous about this afternoon but trying to not think about it too much.

Warrior thinking about you and hoping you are joining me today!

warriorbot · 05/02/2015 10:10

Lots of milestones! Awesome news all round!

I'm still in a bit of a state after EC, makingdoo. The bloat is no worse but I'm having wicked chest pains and deep breaths, laughing (and sobbing) are no fun! I know I'm not leaking loads of fluid because I'm watching my weight. I put on 2kg (~2 litres) in the first 24 hours but seem to have got rid of most of that. I'm on Norprolac because of my bumper crop and E2 levels and I'm wondering if it's that that is making me feel so terrible! Am just waiting to talk to a doctor at my clinic to see what they recommend beyond paracetamol and gentle walks!

Sending lots and lots of positive thoughts for your transfer, makingdoo! Sending "mature beautifully" thoughts to your eggs, Persipan and clinking empty Buserelin containers with you, Badger! Hope you find something fun to do MrsWW!

SecondSunrise · 05/02/2015 13:24

Good luck all of you! I start first lot of Northehisterone this weekend (I'm doing two lots) so I'm some way behind all of you. Sounds like exciting times are ahead for you all. Hope all the embies are thriving and dividing as they should and follies are growing well and linings are plumping up nicely.

warriorbot · 05/02/2015 14:12

Hello, SecondSunrise, welcome aboard!

warriorbot · 05/02/2015 14:17

Progress report from the 'Bot babies: three are at eight cells and one is at seven cells and apparently they all look really regular and are top grade Grin. They may have been the only ones to get over their shyness and couple up, but it doesn't seem to have done them any harm, fingers crossed!

I'm hoping to freeze these. The doc who took a look at me this morning thinks that I'm doing okay for someone who ended up with "a whole stack" of eggs but that letting myself heal would be no bad thing at this stage. Yay!!!

[Throws the tubes of Crinone gel in the air like confetti]
[Realises I may still need them in a couple of months]
[Sheepishly gathers them back up again]

warriorbot · 05/02/2015 16:15

[wonders how makingdoo is doo-ing]

makingdoo · 05/02/2015 16:59

Welcome SS Grin

Well it's done! We now have 2 embryos on board!
To be honest I came away feeling quite down and disappointed following the transfer. We h ad a very brief conversation with the embryologist where he said that they plan to put back 2 as neither are developed as much as they'd like at this stage. He said one had 4 cells and the other has 6 cells, in his words it's not ideal but we will give it a go Hmm

It just made me feel we have no hope and are going through the motions! DH spoke with the doctor while I was getting changed and she gave a more positive outlook so he spent the 2 hour journey home convincing me we have a chance.

That's fab news Warrior - it will do you good to have a little rest

BadgerFace · 05/02/2015 17:33

There is always a chance makingdoo and with two on board there's more of a chance!! Sending positive embryo growing vibes your way...

Sounds positive in the warrior camp today! How long will you test for or do they monitor you and then decide? (And are you having to pee in a jug?! Wink)

Hello SS!

warriorbot · 05/02/2015 18:07

No environment is as ideal as you, makingdoo - sending lots of "divide and develop" vibes your way.

I'm peeing in a jug (and thus working from home!) But basically it's all over as far as my part is concerned, for this cycle. I'm hoping some of the embryos make it to freezing: we've been told the odds are as good as they could be given how many we "lost" before we started. They go in the freezer, I wait for AF and check the monster corpora lutea have fucked the hell off and then we try for a thawed cycle. No stims though, and no downregging. Should be a cakewalk compared to this cycle.

[Sings: Do you want to build a snowman?]

warriorbot · 06/02/2015 10:46

How are you feeling today, makingdoo? Remember that you're the best possible home for your embryos - they might have found the lab a little intimidating, but they've got all your love and care (and hormones!) now. Flowers

makingdoo · 06/02/2015 11:43

Thank you Warrior you are so kind. I'm not too bad today. Feeling much less bloated and sore. Going to take the dog a walk and do some shopping. I've two friends coming over for takeaway tonight to give poor DH a break Grin

I know that they are in the best place now and I just need to put it out of my mind until test day!

How are you feeling today?

I hope everyone has something nice planned for this weekend Smile

warriorbot · 06/02/2015 13:07

That sounds like an excellent plan, makingdoo. I'm crossing absolutely everything for you!

I'm starting to feel a lot better and I've made it in to the office. Being here should not make me this happy! What is wrong with me? Turns out I get bored of putting my feet up very quickly Grin.

I've some nice plans for the weekend - a mix of gentle socialising and preparing to move house - although we're stuck at the end of the chain of dooooom! I'm going to go round to the solicitors' houses and ground them until they finish their searches! I figure that's good practice for motherhood.

[crosses arms and pulls the "don't try me too high, young lady/man" face at the solicitors]

Persipan - how're you recovering from EC? [proffers lucozade sport and tasty nibbles]Cake

BadgerFace · 06/02/2015 15:02

Good to hear you're both recovering well from the ECs ladies.

Are you moving far warrior? I've just received the property forms and searches for our new house so need to wade through that this weekend. Apparently due to an 1880 covenant no-one is allowed to build a hut, shed, caravan or house on wheels on the road! Although I'm pretty sure 99% of the house owners have broken that one. Our new house has a 160 sq ft shed so I'm hoping it won't be a problem...

Sorry, bit off topic!

warriorbot · 06/02/2015 16:11

Oh my word - that's an odd covenant! And makes me instantly want a hut, shed, caravan and house on wheels!

We're only going to east london - currently we're in south east london so it's not a massive trek. How about you?

BadgerFace · 06/02/2015 17:12

Ha ha, I know, I especially want a house on wheels... We're in SE London too (SE22). Only moving a 10 minute walk away as we love our area.

Persipan · 06/02/2015 19:12

So, EC was fine - my clinic really go for it with the sedation, so I basically slept through it - and they hoovered out 8 eggs, which I think is quite respectable. They'll ring me in the morning to let me know whether/how many fertilised.

Felt fine afterwards (to the extent that my friend and I went for a walk round town and, erm, to Spudulike) but was a bit bleurrrggghhhh by the time I got home (I live a couple of hours away from my clinic on the train) so had a little nap when I got back. Have now had a Chinese takeaway and am lolling around in bed with my cat sat on my knees.

(P.S. I totally want a house on wheels now. Although that may just be an after-effect of the sedation...)

warriorbot · 06/02/2015 19:24

Persipan, you ROCK! Here's hoping they hit it off nicely with the sperm.

Look over there!

[steals a prawn cracker]

mrswishywashy · 06/02/2015 19:38

Glad your collection went well Persipan, fingers crossed eggs are partying with sperm right now.

Badger and warrior, hope you're both in your new houses soon.

Makingdoo, how are you feeling, sounds like you've got a nice weekend planned.

Scan today was a bit disapointing, three one one side and two the other side. Gonal f stays the same, doubling dose of menopur and add oragutron to the mix Sunday evening. Next scan on Monday. Had a busy day yesterday baking for my partners work colleagues and today been out and about. Quiet weekend planned and hope follies keep growing.

BadgerFace · 06/02/2015 19:58

Fantastic crop Persipan! Rest up and enjoy your ovaries shrinking back to normal size!

Sorry to hear your scan was disappointing MrsWW but it's a steady start and here's to the drug change ramping things up with the follies.

A quiet night in watching telly for me whilst DH is out for a few beers and rugby watching - it's an easy ride for Dads on the FET train!

warriorbot · 06/02/2015 21:29

Hope the new drugs kick things up a notch, MrsWW.

Persipan · 07/02/2015 10:16

Just had my call from the embryologist - three eggs fertilised, so they'll call me back on Monday to let me know whether my transfer is that day (if 1 or 2 are doing OK at that point) or whether they want to keep cooking them 'til Wednesday (if all three are looking good). Had only 1 or 2 fertilised, they'd have done it tomorrow, so at least I don't have to go on a mad cross-country Sunday dash.

I'm supposed to be going to the theatre in London tonight (booked it months ago), so I should probably do something about sorting out actually getting there...
