Any on looking to start ivf/icsi in the new year?

Just wondering if anyone would like to keep me company and share the ivf/icsi journey. DH and I are both 35 years old and have been trying to conceive our first child for 10months. DH has lowish sperm motility and I have a low amh (7.24). We haven't had any luck so far and so the next step will be ivf with icsi in the new year. We are thinking of starting end of feb or march. Would be great to share the journey with others in similar situations and hopefully make some friends along the way Smile

Hope it's a quick wait until the next cycle can start Badger! Congratulations mrswishywashy - it's just new things to be nervous about isn't it. Injections are definitely easier now Badger but feels like I've been doing them for ever!! Booked in for ER on Tuesday which is exciting but a bit anxious about how many eggs they're going to get - it's been a slow process. We're only a day apart Kazcal - good luck for Monday, will be thinking about you.

kazcal · 27/03/2015 21:23

BadgerFace · 30/03/2015 20:59

Well done kaz!

And good luck tomorrow laika!

lucieloos · 31/03/2015 07:42

Well done Kaz and good luck Laikalooo. It's gone very quiet on these boards. Anyone else starting treatment soon who would like to join us?

I am having my endo scratch today, feeling a little nervous but I'm sure it will be fine. I should be starting stimms just after the weekend and egg collection 14 days later..gulp!!!

keeponjuggling · 31/03/2015 10:36

Hi everyone, can I join you please? I confess im a lurker and very occasional poster.

I haven't had a chance to read through the thread but I will. Hope you are all well, and coping with everything.

I start stimming on Thursday, and I'm terrified. I'm full of cold and so disappointed to be going into this unwell. Does anyone have any pearls of wisdom on starting ivf a bit under the weather?

Im also thinking about booking a few acupuncture sessions, has anyone found is beneficial?

Good luck Lucieloos, I haven't had an endo scratch and im kicking must wishing I'd asked now. Is it something your clinic does as standard?

mrswishywashy · 31/03/2015 11:21

Yay, kaz, hope the eggs and sperm had a party last night.

Good luck, laika.

Badger, how are you doing?

Lucie, hope endo scratch goes ok.

Keep on, best advice I can think of is to rest as much as possible, early nights into bed. And drink at least two litres of water a day. I also drank herbal teas on top of the 2 litres. Keep feet warm as much as possible and hot water bottle on tummy while stimming but not after egg collection. Take one day at a time and try and relax.

lucieloos · 31/03/2015 11:31

Thanks Mrsww hope all is well with you.

Welcome keepon, good luck with your stimms. I'm sure you will be fine. Like Mrsww said get plenty of early nights and drinks lots of water. Try and relax and don't stress although I know that's easier said than done! I am having treatment abroad but booked myself in for a scratch at my local clinic. I've done lots of research around ivf and it's meant to help so thought I would give it a try.

Thankyou mrsw and lucie, great advice. I'm incredibly lucky and have one miracle DS, he's at nursery today so I'm on a mission to rest and up my fluids. Good tip on the hot water bottle, I must admit it's not so much the injections I'm scared of, more the 2 week wait.

Congratulations Mrsw, I've just realised you have your bfp. Fantastic! It's hard to relax those first few months, but hopefully you will soon. wishing you a very healthy and happy pregnancy.

Lucie, best of luck with your treatment abroad. Do you mind me asking where you are going? We're paying for our treatment, and are considering abroad if the first attempt doesn't work. I doubt we could stretch to 2 rounds in the UK.

Kaz, hope you get good news today.

kazcal · 31/03/2015 12:33

Mrs ww...yeah bit of a party!!, out of the 5 taken 2 have fertilised so im back in tom for transfer fingers crossed. Hope yr feeling ok & so far so good.
Keep on....as others have said I too drank copious amounts of water, relaxed, herbal teas. Good luck.
Laik....how was today hope all went ok for you.
Badge...how u doin.
Im trying not to be over excited by havin 2 that have fertilised its such a long journey & such a waiting game. But positivity must remain....my wine glass feels very neglected!!! Wink

lucieloos · 31/03/2015 13:21

Hey keepon, we are having our treatment just outside of Prague. I have to say the process has been so easy at the moment and you can email your doctor directly at any time with questions which is great. We were almost going to have treatment in the UK until I thought to look up some clinics abroad. The ones in Czech Republic have very good results and are some of the leaders in Europe. We are only paying £1400 for ICSI. Medication is also a lot cheaper through their pharmacy and cheap flights, hotels and food so can't go wrong. I would definitely recommend.

Great news Kazcal! We also got 5 eggs and as we are having icsi they have all been injected and just waiting for the call tomorrow morning to see if any have fertilised. I really hope they get busy tonight! Luckily I've got a whole load of marking to do tonight and work tomorrow to take my mind off it. Good luck for tomorrow!

lucieloos · 31/03/2015 18:56

Good luck Laika, keeping my fingers crossed for you.

BadgerFace · 01/04/2015 14:14

Good luck with the transfer today kaz!! Are you having them both put back in?

Hope all of your 5 fertilised laika - I guess you will be having an Easter transfer?!

Not long for you now lucie which is good!

I hope your first injection goes well tomorrow keepon. Better to have a cold now and get it out of the way I reckon than nearer collection and transfer!

I'm counting down the days until our follow up appointment on 1 May and in the meantime enjoying being able to have a few drinks again. I am calling weekly in case the clinic have a cancellation appointment for me but resigned now to waiting I think. We're likely to exchange on our new house next week so April will be pretty busy getting everything sorted out once we move in so I'm sure it will fly by.

laikalooo · 01/04/2015 17:44

Thanks badgerface! Amazingly all 5 have fertilised and they've been transferred to Eeva with a Good Friday transfer hopefully. Will hear tomorrow about how they're dividing - it's all so nerve wracking! Hope it went well today Kazcal.

kazcal · 01/04/2015 20:30

Laika...thats fab news!!!, my 2 went back in today was told they are of good quality so lets just do the 2 week wait now! Ive been on sofa all day & when walkin to toilet i look like ive had major surgery!!!! Feel really protective coz its such an emotional/stressful process. Good friday is gonna be a good day for you!! x

kazcal · 01/04/2015 20:32

Plus thanks everyone for the thoughts & up-dates of u all. Nice to know we're all in it & have bit of support & advice. X

BadgerFace · 01/04/2015 20:42

Wow Laika, what a result! Go embies!

Good to hear yours are on board kaz, snuggle in little ones!

warriorbot · 02/04/2015 10:59

/slinks back in

hey y'all... Thrilled by Mrs WW's news! What else did I miss?

I've been really unwell since the cancelled cycle. Lost over 5kg in about 5 weeks. My GP is investigating but in the meantime I'm still waiting for my cycle to settle back down. Waiting is a royal pain. Sorry to hear you're in a similar boat Badger.

lucieloos - when do you go to Prague? Fingers crossed!

BadgerFace · 02/04/2015 17:51

Oh warrior, poor you! Do they have any idea what it is? Waiting is a pain, agreed, but it will come to us in the end. Maybe we'll end up cycle buddies...

Good luck tomorrow laika.

warriorbot · 02/04/2015 18:30

That'd be good! Here's hoping!

Having some investigations through my GP at the moment. Could be thyroid, could just be still recovering from the OHSS.

Good luck to you laika! And happy Easter and much chocolate to everyone!

lucieloos · 02/04/2015 18:53

Hi warrior, lovely to see you back but sorry to hear you have been unwell. I hope they find out what it is soon and that time passes quickly for you so you can begin your cycle.

I had an endo scratch on Tuesday which is meant to help with implantation. I found it more painful than I was expecting but glad I had it done.

I am waiting for AF to arrive at some time over the bank holiday weekend and then I can start stimms. I should be going to Prague around the 18th April so not long to go now!! Grin
