The hut of gl/doom: ttc against the odds

PhoenixFromTheFlames · 10/02/2012 22:51

This is a safe haven for those ttc with difficult, with ?sub-fertility or sub-fertility labels. Where like minded people offer encouragement at times and commiserations at others.
I've decided the theme is Cocktail style: Flanagans. With a pink neon sign: Cocktails and dreams. Blinkity blink.

aye. absolutely shattered, feeling nauseous all the time. Was violently sick yesterday morning. Have generally been feeling sorry for myself while at the same time reminding myself that for two and half years this is what I wanted.

summerintherosegarden · 06/07/2012 22:53

Off on hols for the next couple of weeks so hope I come back to some excellent news from you pink.

Queen...every time you're sick, just think about the little one in there who's doing all this to you.. :)

pinkapples · 07/07/2012 21:45

pinkapples · 13/07/2012 10:50

How is everyone in the hut this week it's sounding a bit quiet?

delilahbelle · 13/07/2012 18:22

Hi pink
Sorry I missed your sad new, been wiped out with a nasty cold this week. Hope you are looking after yourself, it's hard when you've invested so much hope for things not to work out.
Still waiting for test results before we can begin our cycle - I'm going to give the clinic a call on Monday. AF is currently here with me so we wont be cycling any time soon anyway.

pinkapples · 13/07/2012 21:06

Oh no Delilah hope your feeling I'm alright I guess just wish family would stop talking about it. I started to bleed on Wednesday so I kind of dealt with it then obviously today was test day so everyone asked again I just got cross... It's not like I'd stopped bleeding then miraculously alls good! No Angry

Settling into AF although it is the worst thing in the world especially as lining is so thick it's all clotty and black (sorry tmi)

Apart from that's alls good!

Any idea when youll cycle now? Ive got to wait till Wednesday to phone and see when the next available slot is

flixy102 · 13/07/2012 23:48

I've been decorating my spare room today with the hope that sods law occurs and once I'm finished, I'll get a BFP and need to turn it into a nursery!

wishful thinking

pinkapples · 14/07/2012 08:31

That's a good plan flixy hope it works for you what's next for you treatment wise? Or are you taking a break? Wednesday seems to be miles away I just want to get back into it now

Jury service to contend with as well starting on the 13th August so its all going on in my house the sad thing is I got a deferral because of the ivf appointments and things and it was due to start on the 9th July had I have kept that one I'd be a week in by now and it'll be over before the next cycle now get again I run the risk of it all being in the middle of jury service grrrr

Hay ho onwards and upwards its the weekend after all

flixy102 · 14/07/2012 10:39

Luckily I'm exempt from jury service because of my job, but I hear it's a real pain in the ass.

At the moment I'm waiting on my first AF to arrive since coming off the pill a year ago. I've been taking Bromocriptine for the past 10 weeks to reduce my prolactin levels (they were very high hence no ovulation) so hopefully something will happen soon and then we can start TTC properly. Have had good results so far, in that all my yucky symptoms have disappeared so hoping AF will be next to appear. Just want a fair crack at the whip really.

It's horrible waiting for appointments and thinking about all the what ifs. My BIL and SIL just had their IVF fail a few weeks ago but I don't think they have the funds for another go Sad so I think my PIL now rest all their hopes on me. Lovely extra pressure!

pinkapples · 14/07/2012 12:46

Oh no I wish I was exempt but sadly
Not nothing seems to be going right for me At the mo

We're lucky I guess that my parents can afford to help us out

Devilforasideboard · 15/07/2012 10:39

May I join you ladies? Just got the go-ahead for 3 funded cycles of IVF after nearly 3 years of ttc. We've got a diagnosis that seems to be somewhere betwee unexplained and higher than normal numbers of abnormal sperm (is it just me that finds the thought of the ones with two heads and three tails a bit disturbing?).

My major concern at this point is what to do about work. I have a fairly non-stressful, mainly office based job but commute two hours a day a lot of the time. How much time off am I likely to need during a cycle apart from the actual appointments? I know it varies from person to person and cycle to cycle but any experiences you could share would be very helpful.

pinkapples · 15/07/2012 14:09

Hello! Welcome to the hut!!

Re the ivf we've just finished our 1st cycle I've got pcos so no ov hubby is fine! I work with my parents and didn't take any time off during the medical bit except for appointments of which I had initial
Consultation, day 0 scan, day 10 scan (another scan as they weren't quite ready) so 3 scans in total then a day off for egg collection as its anaesthetic and then the transfer. So technically 4 half days and a full day depending on how the anaesthetic affects you... As I work with my parents I did reduced hours in the 2ww but that isnt necessary and I got mega bored.

Found out on Wednesday our 1st cycle failed so there wasnt much point being off anyway and were private funding as I'm not old enough for funding. Just waiting now for another staff date

Devilforasideboard · 15/07/2012 18:26

Thank you! I think I'll tell my boss and then play it by ear. I'm so sorry your cycle failed, fingers crossed you'll get a date for the next one soon.

pinkapples · 19/07/2012 06:25

Phoning clinic today wish me luck. I phoned Yesterday only to be told that my notes are on the review pile but that they haven't been reviewed lovely... Let's hope we have some more luck today

flixy102 · 19/07/2012 18:13

Well pink how did the phonecall go, what did the clinic say?

pinkapples · 19/07/2012 20:38

not to bad start another round on the 1st August have to do Synarel for a month then scan on 4th sept doing a ICSI cycle this time so fingers crossed x

Everyone else ok?

joberg · 19/07/2012 22:29

Hi ladies!!!! Please can i have a whiskey and diet coke?
New to all this....
What does cd15 mean?
X

pinkapples · 20/07/2012 06:23

It means if you were normal you are fertile right about now as women NORMALLY ovulate around cd 14-16 so get at it! Hehe Grin

Devilforasideboard · 20/07/2012 09:08

Hi jo, you can have some of my whisky as I'm off the booze for the duration of the IVF (and hopefully about 9 months afterwards as well Grin).

That's good news pink, not long til the 1st now.

All good here. We've both told our respective bosses who have been great. DH is delighted he's been told he can have whatever time off he needs and is now planning to attend every appointment and I suspect is contemplating taking the 2ww off as well Grin.

pinkapples · 25/07/2012 18:22

The hut is extremely quiet maybe because we are all out enjoying the sunshine. I hope that's the reason anyway. It's so hot it's lovely doubt it will last tho forcasters say not

Getting bored of waiting for my next cycle grrrr
