But if everyone co operates with police and stays indoors the can follow him? Dp thinks they will allow him some mobility if he does not threaten/act with intent against them thjey may not be allowed shoot him

juneybean · 09/07/2010 20:54

I'm watching on Sky News website live. I'd hate to have to stand there with cameras pointing at me like the coppers have to do.

Buzzybb · 09/07/2010 20:55

sorry should read . They may not

5inthebed · 09/07/2010 20:56

Well I hope there are no more deaths from this.

Buzzybb · 09/07/2010 20:59

OMG The police are so near they could use a Taser They really want to arrest him as opposed to shoot him. This shows just how dangerous the police job can be at times

thisisyesterday · 09/07/2010 21:00

the only other death that may come out of it will be Moat.
the moment he even looks as though he is going to aim at police they'll shoot him.

I'm watching the image with the taser gun, why don't they just fire it to shock him!?

EightiesChick · 09/07/2010 21:02

Couldn't they shoot him with a tranquiliser gun? Or would he have time to shoot someone himself before it took effect?

Must consult with DH who reads lots of police/ SAS / thriller novels and Knows about This Sort of Thing.

It would cause him to jerk and he would/could fire without aim so could do a lot of damage/kill or injure someone, guess it is the same reason an attack dog has not been sent in.

differentID · 09/07/2010 21:05

why doesn't a sniper shoot the gun?

juneybean · 09/07/2010 21:06

Is it a huge deal if he shoots himself like if they decided to move in on him... lol

SandyBits · 09/07/2010 21:07

lol?? Seriously?

i reckon i'd quite like to be a police negotiator

juneybean · 09/07/2010 21:09

Yes, seriously.

thisisyesterday · 09/07/2010 21:10

sky reckons it's coming to an end on their websiote

juneybean · 09/07/2010 21:11

I'm watching sky and it's still going on :S

EightiesChick · 09/07/2010 21:12

My main knowledge of what it might be like to be a police negotiator comes from Samuel L Jackson and Kevin Spacey in the film The Negotiator, plus the Mitchell and Webb sketch where the hostage negotiator is sharing an office with a porn writer. Somehow I'm not sure any of those approaches are being deployed in Rothbury.

thisisyesterday · 09/07/2010 21:12

apparently a car sped up, officers grabbed something and then sped off again

the gun maybe?

no idea, their latest update says relief from villagers as it appears to be coming to an end... but nothing else on why they might think that

juneybean · 09/07/2010 21:13

Haha EightiesChick might work a bit better?

5inthebed · 09/07/2010 21:13

DH wants to watch Big Brother

Eightieschick

Buzzybb · 09/07/2010 21:13

DP thinks that he has to act with intent ie shoot at them or at least act in a way that during an inquiry they can prove they were in actual danger, also they do not know if his gun is loaded and that needs to be considered does he have a loaded gun or what is as effective as an iron bar,
TBH I think that is crap they should shoot if they think he is danger to them and the onus should not be to prove he is armed and dangerous, he has history he has a gun he is dangerous I want the police home safe with families What happens to him now is his choice he made it last week

juneybean · 09/07/2010 21:14

Yeah that was at HQ, not sure what they grabbed though.
