Yank, Moondog - what a nightmare for you both! Moondog, do you have any real options from there apart from waiting for an available flight? I'm guessing overland with kids is not going to happen...

quiteknackered · 21/04/2010 23:00

How you doing moondog?

YanknCock · 21/04/2010 23:17

....and the breast pump I bought tonight doesn't work at all.

I'm going to have to try to return it, £120 for this piece of shit that does nothing! (Lansinoh Affinity if you're wondering). I will have to just buy another medela swing, at least I know it works for me! Thread started in BFing if anyone can help.

Stupid fecking KLM not giving us our luggage. We did the missing baggage report and they said it will be at least a week.

MABS · 22/04/2010 06:26

having been on one of the 26 flights that got turned back from LHR wed eve, and a night in Athens, we are now back from Abu Dhabi.

moondog · 22/04/2010 06:44

Yank, how dreadful.
What did you do for a week in Amsterdam?
I console myself with the fact that I am at least home in a sense as dh lives here and has a nice apartment. Also my kids aren't tiny.

Lindt, we have been joking about sailing home...like old time Indian Empire bods.

Still waiting for news...told yesterdat that May 10th still the earliest.
I am missing work and kids now missed over a week of school.

MmeLindt · 22/04/2010 07:12

Yank, that is terrible. Why did KLM not give your your luggage? Was their explanation in any way understandable?

I hope you bill them for the stuff you had to buy, including the breast pump.

Moondog
Sailing home from Bangladesh. Sounds fab. Bet the DC would learn more from that than a whole school year of geography.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 22/04/2010 08:35

Moondog I bet that would be amazing to sail home. Someone else had had homework e-mailed out for their kids [meanie mother emoticon]

Yank that is awful I will go and have a look at your BF thread.

wrinklyraisin · 22/04/2010 09:30

Oh Yank, if I had known you were in Amsterdam I would have offered my bosses Medela pump! Hope you get your luggage soon. KLM are not great dealing with unhappy customers. for you!

toccatanfudge · 22/04/2010 09:39

well I hadn't posted on this thread as I didn't think I had any family (either soon to be ex, or my own) stranded.

But discovered last night that my lovely sister-in law was stuck in Malaga with her DH and their DD's (8 and 6). They got home last night after a 52hr coach and ferry journey, including a 9hr stop over in Barcelona (but no sleep)

Apparently Thompsons/First Choice were brilliant though

frumpygrumpy · 22/04/2010 10:17

moondog, the 10th is as long as I've heard, most people are sometime in the next week - ten days. Awful!!

My DP should be in the air heading for Heathrow............maybe........

detoxdiva · 22/04/2010 10:27

Wow Moondog - the 10th? My dsis and her husband are in Bangkok airport and have been given a flight on 4th May! They were due home from their honeymoon last Friday.

CatPrevessin · 22/04/2010 11:47

Mme Lindt.

OK will look in the meet up thread...
We are about to buy a house in Annemasse, so should move on the other side of the lake...
Are you living in Switzerland or France ?

TheMysticMasseuse · 22/04/2010 11:53

(hijack- CatPrevessin, I live in Chene-Bourg, I can practically see Annemasse from my house )

MmeLindt · 22/04/2010 14:57

CatP come over and say hello.

How are the rest of you getting on? Everyone home or on their way (except the poor Moondog family)?

Runoutofideas · 22/04/2010 15:51

We were stuck in Kuala Lumpur but managed to get on a flight yesterday and arrived home 1am this morning after driving back from Stansted. Feel very lucky to have done it so quickly.

There were people in KL airport who had slept on the floor for 6 days and still didn't get on our flight. I think they prioritised families, which was great for us but not so great for them. We also flew with 90 of the Lotus Formula One team, who I suspect were the real reason the flight was put on, seeing as their boss also owns the airline - bit cheeky when other people had been stuck for longer, but lucky for us! Good luck to anyone else still stuck!

moondog · 22/04/2010 16:33

Six days in an airport!!!
Nightmare!

I have been given tentative date of Sunday now.
Here's hoping....

I am HOME!!!!!!!
I managed to get from Singapore to Frankfurt the to London. And becuase I was not screaming like a banshee and the check in counter the nice check in person put me in business class.

I hope everyone else is surviving.

moondog · 22/04/2010 18:35

Ooh, nice one Lou!!

I'm in Bangladesh, Riven.

MmeLindt · 22/04/2010 18:44

Welcome home, Lou. Hope you enjoyed business class.

Who is still out there? Moondog, Alibaba and Handbags - are your DHs home yet? What about Ruby's DS? And Madascheese?

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 22/04/2010 18:52

Oh Lou how fab!

DH is due to get on his plane in about 4 hours I think, and therefore so is Handbags. They land at about 6.30am tomorrow so DH should be here by not long after 10am!

I am so glad he is on his way, I have run out of parenting ability today. DS has eaten his fishfingers and chips on the sofa in front of ITNG and I will NOT be attempting to give him a bath tonight.

tatt · 22/04/2010 18:56

have discovered that friends are stranded in Cyprus. Couldn't post here on the computer I was using before . Anyone any advice as they are running out of money and the airline have only offered a flight in 2 weeks.

Madascheese · 22/04/2010 21:41

Hello,

Well we finally got home with DS at 3pm this afternoon after a lovely stopover with the delightful Portofino and her lovely family.
DS is non the worse for the adventure, as far as he is concerned he has a new girlfriend in the shape of the lovely littleportofino.

ExH is likely to get the shock of his life next time he takes me anywhere near court though.

Me and DP are beyond tired though, despite being over the moon to have managed to retrieve DS. It's a trip beyond what we were expecting.

But DS is safe and happy and has been on loads of different trains, bliss for him

MmeLindt · 22/04/2010 21:56

Glad you got home, Madascheese. Have you and Porto already discussed the dowry?

Tatt
No idea about Cyprus. What airline are they with? Can they get in touch with the Embassy there and as for assistance?

Have we got anyone in Cyprus?

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 22/04/2010 21:58

Madascheese - what an adventure for you all! So glad you are home safely, and I hope you all have a lovely night's sleep in your own bed tonight!

DH has his flight number, he is checked in. I am touching wood because I'm still worried it might get cancelled or something.
