Mme Lindt
Yep, living in Prevessin...
Where are you ?

TheBossofMe · 21/04/2010 04:28

BarryKent - are you in Bangkok? We moved here a few weeks ago - only moved into apartment yesterday and have almost no furniture etc until our stuff arrives via ship, but if you do need anything or get stranded with nowhere to sleep, please shout!

My return flight to NZ is virtually worthless, as it was on airpoints (after spending tens of thousands with the airline) I am at at the bottom of the bottom of the queue.

It doesn't really matter what the legal situation is - they only have to get me home - they don't have to even say when.

MmeLindt · 21/04/2010 06:27

CatP
Opposite side of the lake from you. There are a few MNetters on your side. If you fancy meeting for coffee sometime, get yourself over to the meet up thread.

Update from my Mum- they are flying out of KL later today but only as far as Paris.

A London flight would've meant another 7-10 days wait.

At least they'll be closer.

Ruby
Oh, tough decision. Can you call the airline?

Where is BadBadKitten, she might know what is happening weatherwise.

The MuddyBoots shuld sell their story to the papers - it has EVERYTHING.

Just to add my thanks to everyone for all the support and good wishes and the lovely Porto and her family for making us so very welcome. Munchkin has a new girlfriend and as a bonus slept until 7.45 this morning, though I suspect a rather extreme way of ensuring a lie in and not one we will wish to employ again.

Woooooooo!!! Just got a very confused hubby out of bed, where he was enjoying his day off lay in, to point out the window at a plane taking off from Gatwick! He wasn't impressed but to me it's a sign that there could be more happy endings in sight for all stranded Mners and familys...and my MIL!

BarryKent - well she bs us if we don't turn up exactly when she wants us too cos it interferes with her plans (and that's only sitting at home moaning) so why should the volcano get off scott-free?! Lol!!!

CaurnieBred · 21/04/2010 09:30

MerryLegs - if it was me I would do the same. Presuming it is a direct flight and that he will be met at the other end? Go for it. It is such an important year for him.

ReshapeWhileDamp · 21/04/2010 09:38

Lots of vapour trails in the sky this morning! Too late for DH, who staggered in this morning at about 1am, after a coach and ferry to Portsmouth. Portsmouth not the inner circle of hell he'd feared, but also a bit slow-moving - they were taking people off the ferry 50 a time.

Hoping very much that all the other MNers with stranded family make it back very soon.

sophiaverloren · 21/04/2010 10:44

Just checking in again to say I'm home! Ridiculously easy journey in the end Milan - Paris and then Eurostar.
Milan station was announcing no more tickets for trains to northern Europe until Friday, but that's 24hour old info and may not be relevant any more. Eurostar Gare Du Nord were also saying no tickets till Saturday (there were LOADS available on Tuesday morning but had all gone by the time we reached Paris it seemed - I had one so was OK, but not the case for everyone in my train).
Eurostar at Gare du Nord was also surprisingly smooth - they are dealing with huge numbers and appear to be overbooking (people had tickets without seat numbers, but got on train because of no-shows) but very few queues - remarkable!
And now I'm going to enjoy being home with DS who has been very brave but missed me lots.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 21/04/2010 11:16

MmeLindt - was at burns unit.

fraid weather knowledge won't help its down to the airlines now. sorry Ruby, I don't know what he should do.

MmeLindt · 21/04/2010 11:53

Great to have you back, Sophia.

Ruby
Did you put him on the coach?

OYBBK
How did you get on at the burn unit? Is it healing ok?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 21/04/2010 12:01

its getting there MmeLindt just a small patch to heal over and I'm down to light dressings we can change at home. No need to go back unless I have problems.

for something that is getting there it is jolly uncomfortable and miserable making though.

paulaplumpbottom · 21/04/2010 12:43

DH is at Heathrow!!!!!!!! Now all he needs is a flight to Belfast or Dublin!

Rosa · 21/04/2010 12:54

Think there will be a few people in the same dilema Ruby - Having made alternative arrangements and then flights might go.
Sophia glad you made it back ok.

alysonpeaches · 21/04/2010 13:16

My cousin is stuck in Florida, but I find it hard to feel sorry for her!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 21/04/2010 13:43

violetqueen · 21/04/2010 14:37

Thanks caurnuebred. I think this is still the plan. It is a direct flight and now uk airspace is open he shouldn't be diverted. He will be met as well. The situation changes everyday and now we have flights to follow on on Monday so he can stay with a friend until we get back. I have had homework emailed through for all 3 kids, much to their dismay!
