love it

brightongirldownunder · 04/04/2010 16:38

Hmmm, DP, methinks you've been pulling our legs about this BNP malarkey

daftpunk · 04/04/2010 16:43

Why..? because I love ska/reggae music..?

The Liquidator is still massive in our house.....infact, that's the song dh wants played at his funeral.

In Florence, there's a convent and they open their doors for people to stay. Everyone is welcome, although it's only single beds!

brightongirldownunder · 04/04/2010 16:45

Lenin, I think if B & B's publicised the fact that they were prejudiced, it would put most people off and would therefore be forced to shut down or sell up.

If the owners of the B & B in question happened to be of another faith I really don't think Mr Tory man would be supporting them.

atlantis · 04/04/2010 16:46

"Atlantis where have you seen ads for houses/rooms to let saying "No gays/blacks/Jews"? Most likely in the BNP newsletter... "

Firstly I haven't, and never claimed I have.

I have seen ads for rooms to let, or 'second' homes being let that say; 'women only', 'men only', 'professionals only', ' no smokers', 'no children', 'no ss' etc.

And it is well know here that I am a conservative, not a BNP member, but believe that all parties (yes even labour) have there merits.

brightongirldownunder · 04/04/2010 16:47

DP I'd love to see Brian Griffin skanking. I think its obvious that you should be listening to pure white music. Maybe Steel Eye Span or The Wurzels..

daftpunk · 04/04/2010 16:47

LG;

Why have you changed your name..?

Oh what now there are no muslims, jews etc in the Tory party? Baroness Varsi had better come out of the 'christian' closet then.

daftpunk · 04/04/2010 16:49

ha ha...the only music I like is ska/punk/indie.....folk music sends me to sleep

atlantis · 04/04/2010 16:51

"the only music I like is ska/punk/indie.."

Personally I miss madness and the Jam, but that's before your time I'm sure.

Gay40 · 04/04/2010 16:52

We debated this on another thread, but it's VERY simple: if you run a business, from home or wherever, you are subject to UK laws which do not allow discrimination.

Atlantis - I think we're just on a different wavelength...

Its highly unlikely that an empty house would be let to a single sex. Flat/house shares maybe, but those men/women could be gay.You shouldn't compare someones sexuality with smoking/ having children/ being on SS.

Ok I'm beginning to waffle - my last post didn't make much sense. I'm off, its way past my bedtime.
I'm off to dream/have nightmares about Brian Griffin at a reggae club...

daftpunk · 04/04/2010 16:59

What has Greggs got to do with Easter?...they sell cakes..

atlantis · 04/04/2010 17:00

"Its highly unlikely that an empty house would be let to a single sex."

Why don't gay peple live together and have families?

".You shouldn't compare someones sexuality with smoking/ having children/ being on SS. "

It's all discrimination, you are just choosing who you will discriminate against.

I didn't mean that atlantis, hence my waffle disclaimer. I meant that I can't imagine a landlord INSISTING on having only one sex to rent their house. I didn't mention sexuality..
And yes, gay people live together and produce very happy families.
Its the LEVEL of discrimination, being antismoking is incomparable to homophobia. Like I said earlier, I might have issues with a group of men who dressed as gimps wanting to rent my house...saying that, as long as they paid the rent....

starkadder · 04/04/2010 17:09

Yes, atlantis, please look at my link of 15.39 for some advice on homophones.

Stonewall Chief Exec puts it succinctly:

"The legal position is perfectly clear. If you are going to offer the public a commercial service ? and B&Bs are a commercial service ? then people cannot be refused that service on the grounds of sexuality. No one is obliged to run a B&B, but people who do so have to obey the law."
