Homosexuals should respect the catholic religion, our beliefs on homosexuality have been around for 1000's of years...we didn't decide homosexuality was wrong two months ago

Why should they respect this belief of yours just because its been around a while?

The greeks and romans were pretty happy with homosexuality. Homophobia isn't ingrained in us all from time immemorial.

like forcing their lifestyle on catholics...
A) its not a 'lifestyle', please can you stop saying that.
B) they are not forcing it on catholics. They just want the right to get on with their chosen professions without discrimination.

And religious groups are exempt from the law when it comes to religious leaders so you are NOT going to have to have openly gay priests if you dont want them. Sorry for being repetitive but you seem to have missed that - your priesthood is safe.

What about that is hard to understand?

I have never mentioned the appearance of homosexuals.....not that I can remember anyway..

I have said things about gay men and aids...but they were said within the context of the discussion.

I have the right as a catholic parent to tell my children that homosexuality is wrong....that doesn't mean I will tell them that homosexuals should be discriminated against or anything like that....I am not that sort of parent, however, we live by our rules and our standards.

Would I request that a gay child be excluded from my school..?

No I wouldn't......because young children go through all sorts of emotions...it's all part of growing up....I'm sure when I was at primary school I was in love with my best friend.... but what you feel at 8 isn't always what you feel at 18 is it..

Homosexuality has been around a hell of a lot longer than nouveau catholicism.

Blackduck · 04/02/2010 12:08

Riven, you are just not getting it (shakes head sadly)...they have been around LONGER so they win.....this is the equivalent of my FIL telling me 'I'm older and so I know better', to which I reply 'You will ALWAYS be older than me, but that doesn't make you wiser'....

Respect must be earned.

If an individual or an organisation behaves in a way I don't respect then I won't respect them. If they behave in a way I do respect then I will respect them.

Hullygully · 04/02/2010 12:12

I did admire the way they burnt people at the stake though, and tortured them a bit. Love and peace and all that.

have been around LONGER so they win.....

But they are trumped by Alexander the Great etc etc anyway.

Blackduck · 04/02/2010 12:15

I know - just being sarky.....

daftpunk · 04/02/2010 12:26

LG;

why would I joke about this.....would it make a difference if I put those stupid grins after everything I said...?

like this

"homosexuals make me feel a bit uneasy, I don't want them teaching my kids"....

Those grins always make people look a bit mental I think....

I'm a very sincere person LG... you might not like what I say...but I'll never bullshit you, I wont tell you what you want to hear...I'll give it to you straight......

Hullygully · 04/02/2010 12:28

What do you think about poofs working in hospitals? Cinemas? Restaurants?

topher40 · 04/02/2010 12:29

DP Why do homosexuals make you feel uneasy?

BethNoireNewNameForPeachy · 04/02/2010 12:29

So DPwould you rather have a bad teahcer than a gay one?

My mate is both gy and a primary teacher, he had a horrid time at his first (not Catholic) school when the apents found out. Now,he is an excellent teacher and I woulfd choose him toteach my boys any day. But they madehim feelu easy,he left and they got acrappy subby with arep.

Bizarre choice.

daftpunk · 04/02/2010 12:54

T40;

Homosexuals are going against the fundamentals of nature aren't they....society works best when a man and a woman get married and have children together....gays are basically sticking two fingers up to the moral world and saying "who cares what's best for society"

I know my views are unpopular, but I believe that homosexuality is wrong....and I fully support the pope and the catholic church over this issue.

What if your child had to be physically examined by a consultant that was a practising homosexual and the best consultant in the field? Would you allow it?

Ivykaty44 · 04/02/2010 13:02

I am afraid that in my opinion daftpunk is a bigot, this is of course my opinion and I am free to state my opinion.

The pope is a bigot and so is daft punk.

someone was on here last week stating that AA was a cult, I think that it is possible that cults come in all shapes and sizes and catholic church is a cult - wanting people to join and brainwashing them into thinking the same way.

we are unfortuantley not going to change there views and make them accept that all humans are equal
