Mostly, agreewith PW and not with DP

so nowt new there LOL

'You know what really pisses me off...

hetrosexuals banging on about the rights of homosexuals...

Yep,and I will bang on about the right of blackpeople, the disabled, and any other group I fancy too.

Humans banging on about the rights of humans does it for me every time.

BethNoireNewNameForPeachy · 04/02/2010 09:47

And what Slug says- who IIRC is eductaed in these things.

daftpunk · 04/02/2010 09:47

BD;

Homosexuality has only really been "accepted" since the 60's...and only really really accepted within the last few years..ie; civil partnerships.....so in terms of acceptability homosexuals have never had it so good.....but they want more and more....like forcing their lifestyle on catholics...

Most religious people are very tolerant ...but don't push us too far...because that's where it all goes wrong...and where revolutions begin.....because, just taking me as an example....I wasn't bothered about homosexuals until they started wanting to get in on my act...so to speak

Blackduck · 04/02/2010 09:54

DP - I don't see any homosexual trying to force their 'lifestyle' (what the hell is that anyway) on anyone, catholic or otherwise....So come the revolution......wow you really are tolerant aren't you

Ivykaty44 · 04/02/2010 09:55

a man that wants to tell me that I am not equal to him, is a man that I want to stay away from the UK and away from a goverment that I get an equal choice to vote for and a uk where I get an equal say in what happens.

Yes he is a bigot in disguise, the worse kind of bigot as he has no inderstanding of the fact he is a bigot

No-one is forcing their lifestyle on you, daftpunk. All you are having to do is realise they exist.Surely you and your family must be dealing all the time with issues where your faith and what society does are in conflict?
That's life, isn't it? IMO it isn't possible to set up a little enclave where only things you agree with 100% happen. You can say "my faith teaches me that this is wrong,so I won't do it" - fair enough.
But if you want everyone else to agree, you have to convert them, not pass laws about them.

Ivykaty44 · 04/02/2010 10:28

no preists don't marry now as woman are unclean and having se with us would make priests unclean

I guess if you defect and are already married then you are already unclean adn divorce isn't allwoed - is it/

i jsut get the feeling the rules are made up as they go along to keep these people in the place well down the futher the better

whizzpop · 04/02/2010 10:30

The report on Uganda last night showed just how scary intolerance can get. They're actually talking about the death penalty for homosexuality. In the 21st century!!
If people are happy with their own sexuality why on earth would they worry about anyone elses?
Totally irrational!

daftpunk · 04/02/2010 10:42

Pogleswood;

We know they exist, we acknowledge them, but we believe homosexuality is wrong...

How can I teach my dc that homosexuality is wrong, when our priest is openly gay and so are half their teachers...?

It's a joke really....

"Homosexuality has only really been "accepted" since the 60's...and only really really accepted within the last few years..ie; civil partnerships"

Well, yes. Interestingly, the rise in acceptability of homosexuality is the mirror-image of the fall in church attendance over the same period.

Or, to put it another way, as religion-fuelled bigotry has increasingly gone out of fashion, general tolerance has increased. I wonder if that's a coincidence...

Strix · 04/02/2010 10:57

Daftpunk, what will you do if one of your DC is already gay, predetermined by nature... or possibly even God.

I don't want you to stop existing Leningrad, ...I respect you for living the life you want dispite all the challenges you must face, it can't be easy being homosexual.

You have suprised me a bit though, I thought you were intelligent enough to respect other people's choices and beliefs....(I didn't have you down as one of the hysterical loonies)

But you don't respect me or my religion.

onagar · 04/02/2010 11:01

Not much time now, but one quick point. Regarding the dilemma of how you run a school that promotes catholic rules in a society that doesn't approve of those rules and makes some of them illegal.

Answer:

You DON'T.

Stop it now and teach the lawful ones.

Strix · 04/02/2010 11:04

DP, how you say it is Lenin who doe s not respect you when it is you telling her she shouldn't be with her chosen partner/gender?

Bizaar, this bigotry cannot be suprter by the techings of Christ. It is man's interpretation. And that is not infallable.

OP posts:
SolidGoldBrass · 04/02/2010 11:17

Religion isn;t worthy of respect, because it's nonsense. Individual people are worthy of respect for their behaviour, their achievements, etc, and they have a right to hold stupid beliefs and engage in pointless rituals as long as those don't actively impinge on other people's rights to go about their lives - but what no-one has is the right to have their silly superstitions taken seriously.

Snorbs · 04/02/2010 11:18

It's very hard to respect a bigot even when that bigotry is backed by (some interpretations of) a religion.

daftpunk · 04/02/2010 11:18

Homosexuals should respect the catholic religion, our beliefs on homosexuality have been around for 1000's of years...we didn't decide homosexuality was wrong two months ago......however, homosexuals, who have only had rights for 5 minutes (in historical terms) want to re-write the bible....
