see, now i think you're being over-simplistic tbh tsh. what i said was 'men who use prostitutes rather than just act like a human being in a club and actually attract someone to them, they want to pay to own that woman's body for the duration. it's a power trip, and not one i think that the law and our society should be okay with.'

i think it's quite clear from what those men are saying that they are motivated by having the power to pay for and get what they want, not having to be nice to the wife, not having to ask for sex or a blow job, not having to spend the time getting to know someone and actually be attractive to them.

it is a power trip, whereas to have sex with someone you love is about revealing vulnerability and working towards some sort of shared goal. not for pete, mike and pat, though, not when they've got fifty quid in their pockets.

no comment on my response to your point about julie bindel, i note.

AitchTwoOhOneOh · 10/02/2010 12:20

pete, mike and pat not being their real names, of course.

KinderellaTristabelle · 10/02/2010 13:10

Oh, I have read the thread Harpy.

A belief that you can use people for sex is what motivates the men in your examples. They would not be using people for sex if that was not the case.

I fail to see why that makes you think I haven't read the thread.

anyhoo, remind me again. when did we have that referendum on 'a man's right to fuck is paramount'?

I agree with a lot of what Bindel says about the trans issue. But that's a whole other thread I suppose.

yes, another interesting thread, pol. likewise i have many gay male friends who feel that they have nothing in common with gay females and transgendered people and loathe being automatically linked by their common 'otherness'.
