suprised as this will affect us
wonder if they will all be allowed over here now.
can we keep taking all these people, considering the goverment is talking about cutting education due to lack of money. it isn't like they are fleeing a war torn country.

they're not in the UK because of its geographical advantage, so to speak, of being so far north.

so how it is entirely fair to say, 'well, you're closer, so you take 'em'?

and where are stats to back up how many immigrants are using SS?

noddyholder · 26/09/2009 12:13

It was the tone of ' lt france deal with them' i objected to like they are nonentities.I didn't say abything about the capabilities of france in coping with this situation.I am getting off this thread now as I personally find the thought of all those people stranded distressing and am shocked at the attitudes of others

ss covers a broad range of things, I shouls imagine they will need to accces social workers and such like. that is an example of one buget, you could use education, housing or any budget, they are all the same, overspent in April

How is there a drain on your country when there's plenty of money for war, MP's jollys and council houses stand empty?

EldonAve · 26/09/2009 12:27

Why don't they claim asylum in France? They are supposed to claim it in the first safe country

The French authorities don't seem keen on dealing with the problem

Surely they collect everyone - if you don't have papers you have 2 choices: apply for asylum or get deported

If you get asylum in France then surely you can travel freely in the rest of the EU?

if there is a hell a special place is reserved in it for those in UK and USA govts who drain their country's resources by repeatedly going to war [for often suspect gains]

2shoes · 26/09/2009 17:52

riven I don't balme asylum seekers, of course budgets are down to the goverment, but they won't be uping the budgets, even if more people are useing the services, sso the knock on effect will be felt by the likes of you and me.

yes...but the taliban were supporting al-qeuda..

the US had to invade....you don't fly planes into the twin towers and expect nothing to happen...

anyway it's saturday night...maybe we should chill out

scaryteacher · 26/09/2009 20:41

'when the Brits withdrew from somewhere they'd colonised they did leave some semblance of order,"'

If you read it in context I then went on, I believe, to compare how the Brits left somewhere, as opposed to countries like Belgium leaving the Congo, or would you care to claim that that has some semblance of order?

lol....i was up till 1.00 am (was on mouse watch)

DH feels abit sorry for the Afghan people, thinks we're only there because of a pact we made with the US over the IRA.....

wonders why if we're in Afghanistan to fight for demeocracy and human rights why we're not helping the people of Rwanda and invading and helping other countries where life is terrible for it's people...

but what does he know....

ummm....i think we have mice....so i sat here last night on watch....didn't see anything...

haven't invaded north korea because it is not an oil producing country and therefore no financial gain to the US whatsoever...(and would be another Vietnam....)
