Just to respond to

"You were at just as much risk of being quoted by a journalist before"

I really don't understand that - please explain how the odd one off is exactly the same risk as a weekly column that will definitely be quoting an MN thread?

There were risks both times but they are not the same - surely that's obvious?

i know. it's hard enough, all this intellectual property and copyright stuff, without it being in the public arena anyway.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 15/08/2009 23:46

Cnut
King Cnut or Knut

daftpunk · 15/08/2009 23:46

scottishmummy · 15/08/2009 23:47

MN is a business and a brand y'all personalising this way too much

words on a screen
folk come - folk go
no biggie

the histrionics about DM are bitty disproportionate.given many MN link DM daily

Aitchiswaitingforalegalopinion · 15/08/2009 23:48

thanks for clearing that up, sm.

anyoldDMfucker · 15/08/2009 23:50

as i said before they shoudl change their slogan as they aint no longer for parents by parents as its kinda hard to follow their philosphy is we stick to the dont reveal any detailsa bout yourself, itd all be generic shit thats no use to anyone if we did that

KingCanuteIAmAndTheDMCanFOff · 15/08/2009 23:50

Ooh, am liking that one VVVQ - I may have to borrow that, I am lining up namechanges at the moment!

SM, how on earth is linking the dm relevant? Confused

VeniVidiVickiQV · 15/08/2009 23:51

One could wonder what the appeal of this place is for you SM

scottishmummy · 15/08/2009 23:52

what with theface.all the shroud waving histrionics is alarmist

VeniVidiVickiQV · 15/08/2009 23:53

It's 100% genuine King. Canute is a modern day spelling I think.

anyoldDMfucker · 15/08/2009 23:53

actually thinhk they need to rethink quite a lot of there about us bit as dont make much sense now in my opinion

Aitchiswaitingforalegalopinion · 15/08/2009 23:54

och, cos you posture and jostle as much as anyone on here. yours is just a different posture, that's all.

KingCanuteIAmAndTheDMCanFOff · 15/08/2009 23:55

I am guessing shroud waving is your current favourite phrase then SM?

VeniVidiVickiQV · 15/08/2009 23:56

I have this strange David Brent voice in the background saying "that's racist, that is. Hmm" Tres bizaree

scottishmummy · 15/08/2009 23:58

lookey there have been many many MN debacle wails of never be the same again
oh woe it is changed...i am changed

doh, guess what it goes on... folk post
income generated
brand evolves
folk come ..folk go

KingCanuteIAmAndTheDMCanFOff · 15/08/2009 23:59

Thank you VVVQ, I like it - a bit like FCUK (although I hated that as a shop name of course) appeals to my sense of MNname humour

beanieb · 15/08/2009 23:59

I work in a place where copyright and rights are HUGELY important. Get it wrong and you can be in serious trouble in all kinds of ways - financial sometimes being the least you have to worry about.

As a business I recon Mumsnet need to get this particular legal confusion tightened up. It is only the internet and mumsnet is only a brand but the legal crapola they could find themselves in is huge.

anyoldDMfucker · 16/08/2009 00:00

well why dont mumsnet just hold their hand up and say eah actually our priorities and plan for mumsnet has changed then rather than pretending that the reasons for setting it uppp in the first place and their view of it now are different

scottishmummy · 16/08/2009 00:00

shroud waving describes the histrionic out pourings

the i am offsky
never be the same again
i feel betryed

mmmmmmmmmm= all sounds familiar
thing is MN lives to post another day

beanieb · 16/08/2009 00:00

oh, I didn't realise there was a discussion about people leaving and stuff. Confused.

bed time I guess [wave]

VeniVidiVickiQV · 16/08/2009 00:01

de nada. You are welcome

Aitchiswaitingforalegalopinion · 16/08/2009 00:02

oh god i know you think that you've really got a handle on this but lookey here... some people don't go. they stay. and they build the brand, to make it into what it is today. and they don't want to go anywhere. and so far MNHQ has been pretty decent about involving them, so they're just waiting to see if they change their MO. is that okay with you?

if you are not interested in this subject there are plenty of other threads that would no doubt benefit from your wit and wisdom.

Aitchiswaitingforalegalopinion · 16/08/2009 00:04

beanie about two people have said they're gone. faq and someone else. others are waiting to see what happens. it's possible that mn in its current form no longer provides what they need anyway. it's not shroud waving (whatever the FUCK that is) it's just a discussion. it's really the sort of thing that's quite common on a discussion board.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 16/08/2009 00:04

Did you really just say "benefit" "wit" and "wisdom" in a sentence there aitch?

HaggisNeepsnTatties · 16/08/2009 00:06

I was going to leave, but didnt think the NHS would pay for therapy to help me cope with the withdrawl symptoms....besides I have name changed now and they would be hard pushed to even detect what country I am from now....
