admittedly not the world's most respected media outlet, but...

Wonder if this contributed to her resignation?

Well I don't find it
'hilariously smug '

Good for you though!

But more importantly, good to see that most other MNers also feel perfectly entitled to make up their own minds about politicians, and don't accept being told that they are naughty little misogynists (wag finger!) who can't possibly have their own opinion on anything!

Why can't I just dislike her because I fundamentaly disagree with her politics? I disagree with most right-wing policies and yes, get a childish feel good factor from seeing them brought down. Why can't this thread just be seen as celebrating the political demise of another right-winger? Why does it have to be seen as misogyny?

Why wouldn't I care about how she governed Alaska? Of course it's relevant.

She is being discussed because she's a potential candidate, and not relatively unimportant. Hillary was the favorite as the Democratic candidate apparently, and look who's in office.

Should I not show any interest?

Sarah Palin's brand of politics is scary. In true Bush, 'ah shucks, am just a down home kinda gal...' she does women absolutely no favors, so am not sure why you are on a personal crusade here Dittany.

Why does it have to be a gender issue?

I hated Bush, and that was because he was stupid, and worse was that he glorified stupidity. Same with Sarah Palin.

Hear hear ilovemydog.

Not a gender issue at all.

Palin's politics are despicable to many people. And they have every right to say that.

If this was a thread about George Bush getting divorced, you'd get the same reaction. Certainly you would do if it was Jed Bush who still likes to think he can make up the holy fucking trinity!

Yawn..... haven't said I'm pleased or not pleased about whether Palin is divorcing/not divorcing actually dittany. I'm not actually interested, though I did respond to someone elses post when I said that the private lives of politicians are often subject to public scrutiny. I didn't actually make a value judgement about that either, btw, as you'd see if you read the thread properly. I was just stating a fact.

I said I respect women enough to allow them to make their own minds up about politicians. That is entirely relevant to the thread, because you are determined to label people as 'misogynists' if they don't agree with your view. Which is hugely disrespectful to the many women (and men) who don't agree with you and aren't misogynists.

You flatter yourself dittany

I think the fact is, many people dislike Palin because her politics are dangerous far right bullshit. Nothing sexist or misogynist about that - just people making a considered judgement!!

Ah right. So we're back on the 'I know what I'm talking about but no one else does'.

Well, not a lot any of can say to that, is there? It's a bit like the finger-wagging 'Because I say so!' from a very strict nanny or Headmistress! No reasoning, no logic, just 'Nanny knows best!'

Scary, where this rightwing thinking can lead you.......

But the point is Dittany, I would have laughed and sneered at the Bush 'lies' just as much as I do about the Palin 'lies'.

Oh and please don't play the 'you're all ignorant DM reading peasants' card. It's insulting to everyone including yourself.

How can anyone else possibly have an argument dittany? You just said:

'I don't believe that half the people attacking Palin have the faintest idea aobut her positions and I'm pretty sure I'm right that the same half won't have ever heard of Mitt Romney.'

Talk about bigging yourself up and putting everyone else down! I'm tempted to say 'Pah, misogyny!' Except that you presumably include men as well as women among the people who don't know what they're talking about!

Oh, I have a fair idea about her politics.

Not sure though that on a lot of issues that her and Obama are the same or similar. Guantanamo Bay, stem cell research, health care and diplomatic appointments.

The federal fiscal plans were done ahead of the election with both McCain and Obama with Bush, so yes, of course this would be a point of similarities, but a false union, in a sense.

Cor! Are you still arguing about this? Is she your sister or something Dittany? I mean, it's all very well supporting someone and believing in their politics but this is starting to sound like indoctrination worship!
