admittedly not the world's most respected media outlet, but...

Wonder if this contributed to her resignation?

Dittany, she was aiming to be the VP of a man in his mid70s, who would have been the oldest president ever had he taken office. So there was a seriously good chance that at some time during the tenure she would have had to step into his shoes, either temporarily or for good.

I, for one, thought she was a dangerous nutter. It had nothing to do with her gender and everything to do with her politics and her way of living.

She definitely saw it as a step towards the White House. Why shouldn't she? She is only in her early forties, and realistically has another twenty years to get there. And (quickly counts) three of the 11 VPs in my lifetime have made it to President. So decent odds.

I don't think anyone believes that if Mitt Romney got divorced it wouldn't finish him politically. Having an affair finished John Edwards's chances, even though he wasn't a family values candidate, because he made his family such a big part of his campaign.

As a feminist, I'm more offended by Palin whining "poor me, attacked by the liberal elites", while freely dishing it out (remember the "palling around with terrorists" nonsense?). Now that's a double standard.

It absolutely has everything to do with feminism, when she cries "sexism" whenever she is treated the way she treats others. To me that devalues the fight for equal rights and treatment.

Dittany, your antipathy of Barack Obama has been noted. The connections between Obama and Ayers from my recollection were quite weak.

I don't like Sarah Palin. I don't like her politics. And absolutely not true that gossip mongers are only interested in the female of the species. Clinton was given a very hard time for his sexual indiscretions, as was John Kerry more recently. You can't compare like with like. Female Republican vs male Republican. Think it should be female politician vs male politician.

Dittany, it's not so much about women hating, more like smug women hating who like to preach their extreme religious views (creationism anyone?) and then end up falling flat on their face. Call it schadenfruede, but I say it's called pride coming before a fall.
