Let WHAT get too far gone?
Look, it's not hard. Because our society is post-industrial, has a welfare state and has not been bombed for 60-odd years, life expectancy is increasing.
Because of rising expectations and improved contraception, the birth rate has not kept pace with this.
This means that more (old) people are being supported by fewer (young) people.
The MONEY - not the GOODS, the MONEY - to cover that gap has to come from somewhere.
OR we reduce the number of old people by culling them or sending them away and meanwhile work hard at reducing life expectancy.
All of this is true without immigrants of any sort. This is a tendency observable across the developed world, including countries like Japan. We are, simply, victims of our own success.
Immigration is one possible solution to this. In terms of physical overcrowding, countries like Japan (again) have proved we still have a long way to go. In terms of wealth, working people produce more than they consume - this is the basis of capitalism.
Read that again - immigration is the SOLUTION, not the CAUSE. The causes were in place before the Windrush docked and will remain with us for a long time to come. So what have I let get too far gone? The NHS? The raising of the school leaving age? World peace? Division of labour by specialism?
I really don't think you have a clue what you are talking about.
