I know there was loads of speculation about this at the time

thats odd, the mirror would have known about the court order, it was widely reported at the time.

ElfOnTheTopShelf · 26/03/2009 19:00

do they know who the father is?

bettany · 26/03/2009 19:01

Why has the story been removed? I saw a picture of Alfie on the front page of a paper today, and he looked about the same age as my 7 year old. I just couldn't believe that he could have been capable of having sex. This story has echos of Shannon Matthews.

OldLadyKnowsNothing · 26/03/2009 19:01

There doesn't seem to be mention of who the daddy really is, but there may be half a dozen candidates, so I suppose they'll all have to be tested too. I doubt whether the result will be made public, though.

nancy75 · 26/03/2009 19:02

i'm pretty sure that they can't report that, from what i know the court order said that nothing new on this story should be printed, including any dna results. 2 other boys were tested at the same time

noddyholder · 26/03/2009 19:03

The whole thing is abuse on so many levels

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 26/03/2009 20:43

If they couldn't do it in the sun they'd just go on farking Jeremy Kyle (they pay people, despite claiming they don't)

Or as a last resort take a break.

I thought at the time that Alfie Patten couldn't be the father. And it is a desperately sad situation for all three children (ALfie, Chantelle and Maisie). I agree that they should probably all be taken into foster care and probably given new identities. Poor little sods.

Sorrento · 26/03/2009 23:21

And we are surprised ?

The girl should be taken into care and what can be saved of her childhood made the best of, her family can't be trusted with little maisy.

ElenorRigby · 27/03/2009 10:19

madder than an episode of Shameless...

CompareTheMeerkat · 27/03/2009 10:21

The link posted at the top doesn't work now - the Mirror's wesbite says it can't find the page and it may have been moved or deleted.

clam · 27/03/2009 10:35

Slightly embarrassed for caring, actually, but looking at the photo of that boy, surely he can't be old enough (i.e. reached puberty) to have had sex.

Gunnerbean · 27/03/2009 12:01

I agree that all of the children involved in this have been exploited - I actually think that this story was cooked up by the two families to get money from selling the story, Shannon Matthews mother style.

FigmentOfYourImagination · 27/03/2009 12:05

The parents of these kids have a lot to answer for. Disgusting exploiting your children for a few quid. Subjecting them to national rubbernecking and (in some cases) hateful, spiteful vile comments. Dirty money indeed.

fircone · 27/03/2009 12:15

Chantelle will be all right.

She'll get a flat in a couple of years' time, and be ok hanging out with her mates. Another few kids will come along soon enough.

And is she wrong for doing this? She'll never have to work, have a home of her own - I don't think we need to pity her at all.

FigmentOfYourImagination · 27/03/2009 13:18

Truly the cream atop the milk of human kindness

donnie · 27/03/2009 13:30

the entire sordid tale is a slow motion car crash. What chance do children - because that is what they are - like Chantelle and Alfie have with grasping amoral parents like that? they are utterly shameless and motivated by greed. They disgust me.

FigmentOfYourImagination · 27/03/2009 13:31

ah but Donnie, Chantelle will get a council house and have loads more gymslip babies and that'll rid her of any feelings of betrayal by her family

I knew he couldn't be the father. Just not possible!

OldLadyKnowsNothing · 27/03/2009 20:49

I've never lived in a council flat, but I've visited many through work, and there are some damn nice ones out there. And usually very long queues for them.

Sorrento · 27/03/2009 21:09

I've lived in a council flat and no they aren't fantastic, but at £50 a week rent living in one helped me to get a deposit together to move out very quickly, I do think the faster Chantelle gets one the better, but of course she can't sign a tenancy agreement until she's 18 or credit agreements for gas/electric/telephone so it'll be a while yet.

nancy75 · 27/03/2009 21:20

as its now obvious that she has had sex with more than one person at such a young age i could her parents not be prosecuted for not looking after her properly? if they have allowed this to go on in their house surely they have to take some responsability?
