"Tesco Fish Counter Closed Today Due To Princess Paula Having a Bath in Our Ice. Apologies for any Inconvenience".

cellogirl · 17/04/2005 09:11

lol highlander!!

She's running again today. I wonder if she can be bothered to finish?

Potty1 · 17/04/2005 09:13

Keep an eye out for your fellow mumsnetter Twink, who's running today.

Freckle · 17/04/2005 10:28

For goodness' sake, you lot are vicious. Have you all taken a bitchy pill???

And to imply that Paula only wins when taking drugs, well, if I were the Mumsnet team, I'd be looking out for a libel writ dropping through the door.

Most of the races that Paula enters have extremely rigorous drugs testing. I don't think the Athens Olympics was any different.

I admire Paula greatly. She always seemed to miss out on the big prizes and must have got terribly demoralised over the years, especially when the press ridiculed her - much like here. She has persevered and achieved a huge amount - and has taken a very visible stance against drugs.

I admire Kelly Holmes too, but I seem to recall a recent thread on here about her degenerated into a critique of her dress sense. Shows what some on here feel is important.

cellogirl · 17/04/2005 10:53

I agree that I am being bitchy, but I refuse to feel sorry for Paula Radcliffe. I think she is extrememly self indulgent. At the Athens olympics, it seemed to me that she only dropped out of the race when she realised she was not in the running for a medal. She is paid a heck of a lot for what she does. Maybe we should't ridicule her, but if had given up in my old job when I realised that I wasnt in the running for promotion or a payrise, I would have been out of the door. And I was paid a tiny fraction of what she gets.

cellogirl · 17/04/2005 10:54

I don't particularly want to get into an argument, but I had to put my point across, and now I will no longer contribute to this thread.

Enid · 17/04/2005 11:13

Freckle - lots of gossip around Paula taking drugs, its not just me, but if she wants to sue me I'd be happy to send them my name and address.

We still have free speech in this country last time I looked.

Typical of her though if she couldn't take a joke

cellogirl · 17/04/2005 11:15

I said I wouldnt post again on this thread, but lol Enid

I'll go down fighting

(unlike Paula)

zebraX · 17/04/2005 15:42

She won, she won, she won, Latidatida!
I'm happy for her, anyway.
It's her life, let her run it how she pleases. Can't believe comments on this thread. And people call me judgemental.

Steppy1 · 17/04/2005 15:44

so who should be awarded the "gold" for the "I hate PR" race....nominations pleeeease

Potty1 · 17/04/2005 15:46

I'm with you Zebra - plus any woman who takes a toilet break at the kerbside in front of a few million TV viewers deserves a bit of credit . Although at that point I did think 'Oh no Paula, not again!!'

marthamoo · 17/04/2005 15:48

Was it Paula Radcliffe who did a poo in her pants while she was running?

compo · 17/04/2005 15:48

she did what?

marthamoo · 17/04/2005 15:48

I'm not really "up with the sport" can you tell?

compo · 17/04/2005 15:49

do they usually wee by the road? Never seen that and I watched the

marthamoo · 17/04/2005 15:49

I think she was running in a marathon and pooed as she ran. But I don't know if she left it in there (it would make a bump in her lycra pants I presume and also chafe) or if she chucked it out.

compo · 17/04/2005 15:50

lol

JoolsToo · 17/04/2005 15:52

how do you know it chafes? [knowing look]

marthamoo · 17/04/2005 15:57

I'm guessing! No experience myself of running (well, apart from for a bus) but I do remember pooing in my pants in reception class...

So did she or didn't she poo in her pants? I cannot google Paula Radcliffe poo.

snafu · 17/04/2005 15:58

Surely it's just her facial expression?
