Oh, and the real indicator of his personality: he filed for divorce from Nicole Kidman days before their 10th anniversary, when he knew that - b/c California is a community property state - he'd have to divide half his assets w/her. I really admie Paula. If you look at her times, she's steadily made progress through the years. Remember she was on the international circuit for the 4 years as a student, and thus not training full-time. The time difference between 1st and 5th place at elite level isn't actually that much and she's always been 'up there'. She is a complete anorak, but most long-distance runners are. To be No1, you do have to live like a monk most of the year.

Kelly Holmes is a total laugh. Did you see that episode (years ago) of QofS when she forgot her glasses and couldn't see any of the pictures?!

My big Paula Radcliffe question: why exactly, does she wear those hideous knee high stockings when she runs??

I know someone who ran marathons. Her diet was so restricted that she had to be put on a diet to restart periods etc so she could conceive. She's no longer allowed to run because of the damage she's done to her body and she can't be much older thna 40, if she's that old. She still exercise for about 4 hours a day though.
