she educated herself

she learned her lesson

she apologised and meant it

I AM a fan of Jade

I like her a lot and feel much sadness at this vibrant and humour full life cut short

Her little boys were goign to have the mother she never had and i SO relate to that

Thats the thing Brie5, its not just Jade people are feeling for, its two little boys that are going to have their worlds turned on their heads

it's sad. desperately sad. but the way it turns everyone's language into tabloid tropery... does kinda creep me out.

Pristina · 28/02/2009 10:32

expat, the same critical posters here were equally dismissive about Baby P, another innocent little boy...

There are some posters who seem to relish in their "tough as old boots" image, but also seem to follow these threads with relish, which I just don't understand. If you don't like "sentimentality" then just avoid the threads- they are obvious enough.

expatinscotland · 28/02/2009 10:32

Ivan Cameron was never able to even communicate a goodbye.

Sorry, but I find it extremely wrong to compare the short, painful life of a baby who become a child and died suddenly to a grown person with cancer.

Yes, they're both sad. Yes, they're both painful.

But entirely different leagues, IMO.

Pristina · 28/02/2009 10:34

and I agree totally with lockets post.
Jade deserves less sympthathy because she's a grown woman .

Poppyscock · 28/02/2009 10:36

Doesn't the ivan cameron story have it's own thread?

Lemontart · 28/02/2009 10:36

Well I am sorry you think this country has gone to the dogs expat. Obviously referring to me there.
Thanks a lot for your opinion there.

I am sorry if my lack of sensitivity on this one means that I find little wrong with mentioning of one awful family tragedy where a life is cut short in another thread where someone is also dying, albeit under very different circumstances. My point about not wanting to suggest one tragedy was more worthy of our empathy or emotion leaving me cold might not be something you agree with but I find your last sentence there (along with calling Kimi an idiot) quite personally insulting.
I disagree with Kimi?s statement too but not about to call her an idiot over it.

Northernlurker · 28/02/2009 10:37

Come on - 'comparing' tragedy to see which is worse is just distasteful imo. I feel very sad for the Camerons and I feel very sad for Jade. That doesn't make me mawkish, ghoulish, tabloid or sentimental. It makes me a human being with an emotional response to the distress of others.

GypsyMoth · 28/02/2009 10:39

I kind of agreed with kimi too........

well i personally think the reason why people who find this stuff creepy and odd (not that i think this thread has been a particularly bad example, as i said before) would just keep away from a thread about a wee boy because we really don't know anything about him. this is a good thing, because it gives the more salacious-minded less to pore over. what could be said there other than 'how sad'?

same as with Jade, no question, it's terribly sad, the poor lass.

but then you get the creepier posts about her wee boys, about 'liking' her mother (how? you've never met the woman), and then it all starts going a bit tabloid. even the OP has acknowledged that her 'she looks quite beautiful' headline owed more than a little to the glass of wine she was drinking. it's the poring, the discussion as if we know these people etc... i dunno, it's unseemly.

but as i say, i don't think there was much of that on here last night and i'd hope it wouldn't degenerate tbh.

AitchTwoOh · 28/02/2009 10:45

too late, i see, weepootle. it's already degenerated.

Pristina · 28/02/2009 10:45

you couldn't have summed it up better weepootle.

Lemontart · 28/02/2009 10:45

God, I am feeling totally paranoid now!
I am not expressing myself correctly at all here and getting upset over it now

Just for the record - I think it is wrong and tasteless to compare or measure. However, if another poster mentions the other thread, I don?t see what is wrong to link the two as both are about people expressing their empathy and sympathy for two tragic cases. Thats all. My original point about being left cold was that I found it distasteful that people might be implying "don?t mention the other thread because it is more worthy that this for empathy". Does that make sense?

I didn?t post on the Ivan thread as I missed it. I am not pushing this (if you were referring to me Poppysocks) my repeat posts are because I am trying to put my opinions acorss more clearly after making a bloody hash of it in my earlier posts and came across as some weirdo!

My apologies, going to grab a hanky. Must be pregnancy hormones as I am going to short circuit my keboard with stupid tears now

Cammelia · 28/02/2009 10:46
Shock
AitchTwoOh · 28/02/2009 10:47

don't cry, lemontart. i didn't see you write anything particularly weird i don't think.

Cammelia · 28/02/2009 10:48

my is at weepootle

AitchTwoOh · 28/02/2009 10:50

and pristina, whatever credibility you had just disappeared when you agreed with weepootle's nasty, personal post, you know.

weepootle · 28/02/2009 10:51

What did I say that's cam?

missyhissey · 28/02/2009 10:51

Agree with weepootle and pristina, spot on about the attitudes of certain posters.
