Newspaper Readership Poll

Please answer the following questions - please post once only. And do not comment so as to deter Daily Mail readers.

  1. Which paper do you mostly read Mon-Fri?

  2. Which Sunday paper do you read mostly?

Please answer with one paper. No pretending - if you feel you should answer Guardian and Observer but in reality read the Daily Mail and News of the World, please namechange and answer truthfully.

The Sun sells 10 times as many papers as the Grauniad yet no-one's admitting to reading it...

Lilymaid · 31/01/2009 21:38

Same as Rachepache
week: nothing or The Independent
Saturday: Telegraph
Sunday: nothing
(I do read Indie/Grauniad/Times and local paper online as well)

2shoes · 31/01/2009 21:39
  1. evening argus
  2. no sunday paper, read the Mail on saturday
Swedes · 31/01/2009 21:42

ProfessorCalc - Quite.

This site always seems to be full of Guardian readers but actually I'm not sure there are that many - I think they follow that old voting mantra, post early and post often.

  1. Telegraph Mon-Sat, but it is in last chance saloon here and will probably be replaced by The Times soon
  2. Sunday Times (have recently cancelled Sunday Telegraph - too nutty and 'Catholic' for my taste, and devoid of anything to read)

Also have The Times on Weds (free with Ocado delivery) and Saturday.

Dh gets FT too on weekdays

all of them mostly red tops every day.

AuraofDora · 31/01/2009 21:55

none
none

online many & news sites
private eye now and again

despise the metro et al for the mess they make mainly

bluebump · 31/01/2009 21:58

Trust the first real time for me to be name checked on a thread is when I admit to buying the NOTW...i'm actually now! I actually do realise it's a pile of crap but it used to be quite good for celebrity goss, nowadays I spend ages online and i've generally read it all before its hit the newstands but out of habit I still buy it. Plus when I buy the Guardian on a Saturday i'm still reading it by the following Saturday so there is no reason to buy a Sunday broadsheet...(or at least that's how I justify it!!)

Swedes · 31/01/2009 22:01

BlueB - Arf don't be embarrassed. I buy Heat and sometimes Grazia.

  1. Guardian

  2. Yesterday's Guardian

And, fuck me, but the Guardian Weekend Mag has gone and changed its layout, just when I am trying to come to terms with MN layout.

Local paper once a week
Guardian on Saturday
Observer on Sunday but I agree, it really is shit atm

EachPeachPearMum · 31/01/2009 22:08
  1. Times, occasionally Guardian or Independent, but tbh I really cannot stand the Guardian any longer- it is just a gossip rag- there is no longer any news in it, I just despair. Sometimes we get Telegraph, or FT.

  2. Don't bother on sundays- we never had chance to read it. Used to get Observer, occasionally ST.

Private Eye on subscription.

Threadworm · 31/01/2009 22:11

Agree Guardian is increasingly crap.

EachPeachPearMum · 31/01/2009 22:13

Thready- it's beyond crap- I used to read it cover to cover every day- and was architypical sandal-wearing beardy (loving!) guardianista.... but it is just trash now.

bluebump · 31/01/2009 22:13

I used to have a Heat subscription!

twinsetandpearls · 31/01/2009 22:14

I am finding it fascinating that there is a higher than average propeortion of mumsnetters who have privately eduated children and yet we all seem to read the guardian.

ProfessorCalculus · 31/01/2009 22:15

Bluebump, don't apologise for your choice of newspaper.

thumbwitch · 31/01/2009 22:16

Daily - nothing usually, will occasionally buy a paper if the headlines are of interest, usu. Guardian or Telegraph (I know!)
Sunday - similar, but usually Observer.

BUT DH gets Daily Express weekly for the tv guide and the football.
