If anyone is intersted.

It's at 12.30pm along Embankment, nearest tubes Embankment and Charing Cross.

It's being organised by Palestinian Solidarity Campaign, Stop the War Coaltion and numerous other groups.

I will bump this sporadically, but if anyone else would like to help promote this, plaese bump too.

I will be there.

according to various pages on the BBC and wikipedia websites the Israeli govt used to support and fund Hamas in order to destabilise Fatah. I wonder why this would be?

donnie · 07/01/2009 18:32

maybe someone more tech savvy can get a link up. I am not capable!

chegirl · 07/01/2009 18:38

Thank you Rev, I appreciate your time and patience.

If Hamas is such a radical, fanatical faction just how much choice did the average Gazen have in their election?

I think, even given my rather limited understanding of the situation, have to agree that the response is disproportionate.

I would welcome the opinions of anyone who disagrees with this. But again I am not up for a row, I want to try and understand.

Yep I get that. I think its better to go with ones gut feeling. Mine is that this is wrong but it is not allied to any anti Jewish feeling.

This is an extremely interesting article written by an Oxford professor who has served in the Israeli army

Thanks, Kay for the reuters link.

So the headmaster was a Hamas bombmaker and used the children as human shields despite repeated calls to let them go? This fits with what an Israeli spokesperson said on R4 this morning. But he was an Israeli so he must have been lying?

Do we trust reuters??

I ask again. Who is responsible for all of these deaths?

I'm going to have to leave this thread alone for a while now..

saadia · 07/01/2009 19:57

Bubble I don't know if you've realised but that link is from last year, Kay posted it by mistake.

webtastic · 07/01/2009 20:13

Yes, I read that article earlier Kate, but couldn't get link up.

webtastic · 07/01/2009 20:16

The Israeli's are responsiable for yesterday's attack. There is no footage anywhere to prove otherwise.

Rev, Yes.
It is usually an interesting source of Moderate Israeli comment and analysis.

Donk · 07/01/2009 20:54

Ah -Rev, I wondered if you meant Ari Shavit's analysis. Although I see that he thinks the invasion is justified, at least he sees the harm, and suggests ways of mitigating it.

well the guy from UEWRA or whatever the acronym is ( sorry for my crapness here - it's a refugee agency)stated on News 24 earlier that Israeli officials have admitted there were no Hamas fighters inside the school. I'll try and find it....

donnie · 07/01/2009 21:06

rev- the comparison has been made before. Professor Richard Falk is a UN middle east envoy and has likened the actions of the Israelis to the Nazis. I am no good at links but anyone can read about him if they do a search on his name on the BBC website. Or indeed on google.

donnie · 07/01/2009 21:14

maybe rev...maybe. But the Israelis need to be pushed into it and the palestinans are weak and leaderless ( Abbas is a puppet of the US). It would need a massive, sustained push from a strong and resolute group of world leaders who are not afraid of being labelled anti semitic ( such a convenient tag)and who respect the Palestinians right to a viable state - not a shit strip of land made up of refugee camps.
