If anyone is intersted.

It's at 12.30pm along Embankment, nearest tubes Embankment and Charing Cross.

It's being organised by Palestinian Solidarity Campaign, Stop the War Coaltion and numerous other groups.

I will bump this sporadically, but if anyone else would like to help promote this, plaese bump too.

I will be there.

Agree with Piffle this has gone beyond fault. We could point fingers endlessly. There needs to be a ceasefire and soon.

Monkeytrousers · 06/01/2009 17:59

Oh my god, those children - their parents..

Monkeytrousers · 06/01/2009 18:03

here here, Spunik, Piffle - who cares whose fault it was in 1948 - just stop it

I have just watched the bbc footage accompanying its head line page on school bombing. Admittedly I have no sound on my speakers. The video appears to be of differnt groups of men running around - I can't see a school anywhere at all - I did watch it twice. Of course it may be that there is acoompanying voiceover explaining whatt the buildings are but there were no children at all on that video. there werwe 2 bodeis with the men. I also didn't see any epxlosions on the video either. At one point i did see a woman ( in a purple viel) jumping up and down and clapping her hands in execitement. None of the men are crying or looking sad. Perhaps it is the wrong video?

Where are this Palestinians ment to go? Why don't they open the borders? It's inhumane. I'm disgusted.

ruty · 06/01/2009 18:09

oh shit.

but sadly not at Hamas using children and schools as human shields.

They want to destroy their own people as well as Jews, it seems.

tiredsville · 06/01/2009 18:16

I was initially disappointed with Obama's silence. He was quite happy to comment on the Mombai shootings and the state of the economy, yet used the 'one president' quote regarding this serious crisis. Glad he's opened his gob now!

donnie · 06/01/2009 18:17

'none of the men are crying or looking sad'.

maybe it never happened then. Quick, tell the BBC.

Bubble99 · 06/01/2009 18:18

Why isn't Egypt allowing refugees in? Surely allowing Palestinans to enter Egypt won't affect a relationship with Israel?

Israel's war is with Hamas, not civilians.

donnie · 06/01/2009 18:18

yes - where is Obama's denouncement of this latest assault?

donnie · 06/01/2009 18:20

bubble - how can you say that ? how is it possible you can say that when so many civilians are being killed ? the UN school was being used as a shelter by people who had already been forced to flee their homes. Your argument does not stand up I'm afraid.

Bubble99 · 06/01/2009 18:26

Israel has said that Hamas were firing mortars from within the school. Sadly, it's very believable that Hamas would use children as shields.

If Hamas leaders can send their own sons off to their deaths as suicide bombers, what value do you think they place on other Palestinian childrens' lives?

Journalists haven't been allowed to enter for some time, the images we see is the tame version. Al Jazeera showed the graphic reality of what is going on there, I can assure you their were plenty of women, kids getting blown up, shouting and crying.

donnie · 06/01/2009 18:32

well that would be a good way of justifying it, I agree. I would say it too if I had just opened fire on a United Nations school which was packed full of terrified civilians. Just like I would also deny the humanitarian crisis - which on Radio 4's news hour just now with Eddie Mair, the UN medical aid rep in Gaza described as 'catastrophic'. It's easy when you know how.

Anyway I would be interested in my earlier question being taken up on this thread; at what point does the collective punishment of Gazan civilians earn the description 'holocaust'? and why is Israel denying it?

The Israeli army doesn't deny having or using it, rev. Piece in the Times yesterday about 'legal' uses of it during a war.

Who is more responsible for the deaths of those children, donnie?

Hamas for opening fire on Israeli forces in a building full of children or Israeli forces for returning fire?

donnie · 06/01/2009 18:35

AlJazeera online is a good source of info I find, I don't have Aljazeera tv.

Sputnik · 06/01/2009 18:37

Of course Israel would say that.
This was a UN school, surely they would've noticed if it was full of terrorists?
On sunday they hit a crowded marketplace.
Yesterday a home where they had told neighbours to take shelter.

I'm not saying they are doing this deliberately but I suspect they're not too bothered.
