Doesnt this sort of stink of hypercritism? when she said I wont comment until I speak to my 'agent' - was what she meant - I could make some money out of this - I know if every time I speak I have The Sun logo above my head I will bask in the glory?

Isnt talking about how rubbish RB is in bed stooping to the very level that we are accusing RB of? Will RBs granfather not have to read this article and will they not be upset? Sachs has been very dignified about the whole inccident though it has to be said.

I agree with everyone though, the whole thing is just so... cringeworthy. I feel like I need a wash now.

wintera · 30/10/2008 10:03

Think I might go on a crusade now and complain to any kiss and tell stories in any newspaper. Most awful kiss and tell headline I can recall was the one about Steve Macfadden who plays Phil in Eastenders. The headline on the front page?

'He wined, dined, then 69-ed me'!!!

VinegArghhhWasStabbedInTheTits · 30/10/2008 10:03

Anyone who is desperate enough to sleep with RB doesnt get my sympathy anyway, but to sell the story, and to a shite paper like the sun, just downgrades her even more in my eyes. I feel very sorry for Sachs but its all been blown well out of proportion imo, to get the fecking PM involved as well when there more important issues likes gun crime, a recession and the shite problems in Afganistan is utterly ridiculus(sp?).

She's loving it! Anyone who is in a burlesque group called I believe 'Satanic Sluts' is probably not going to turn down a bit of controversy. She probably cant believe her luck!

morningpaper · 30/10/2008 10:04

wine dine 69 me is a quote from an Alanis Morrisette song IIRC

wintera · 30/10/2008 10:07

Morningpaper - so thats where they got it from then? Didn't know that. Thought it was a bit too 'clever' for the Sunday rags!

ssummers · 30/10/2008 10:08

but in the past russell brand hasnt had that right to vet and respond when the taloids write all stories that they do about him - his mother doesnt get a warning - if we hold our broadcasters to these high standards - i really hope we will start holding our tabloids to this standard to - It is sooo hypercritical. If we did hold our media to as a higher standard then her response would not have been published - because it is nearly as vile as what RB did.

It would have been better for her grandfather had she not gone into the undignifiesd detail she has (I am afraid that more will come as well - as this is how the sun works - you get installments) She deserves a right to reply - but come on!

I would have been refreshing if someone amongst all this had maintained a dignified silence.

ssummers · 30/10/2008 10:11

wintera - lol I remember that headline

OP posts:
Hulababy · 30/10/2008 10:11

Well she obviously cares lots about how much this might embarrass her grandfather desn't she?

I thought that was what all the fuss was about - how it affected her grandfather; looks like now she is being paid to talk about it she isn't so bothered about his feelings anymore.

izyboy · 30/10/2008 10:16

As if Andrew Sachs isn't fully aware of his GD's 'image'lol. I am pretty sure he is not as shockable as she is trying to make out. What I am 'shocked' at is how this furore has grown out of all proportion to the 'crime'.

SheikYerBATi · 30/10/2008 10:17

Quite, izyboy.

izyboy · 30/10/2008 10:17

Ok the humour was puerile - but good lord that's all it was.

beaniescreamyb · 30/10/2008 10:17

AW - poor Grandfather. I wonder how this is all making him feel.

SheikYerBATi · 30/10/2008 10:18

It's no worse then local radio presenters do every day of the week.

R1 get plenty of cheap laughs out of humiliating unsuspecting members of the public

ssummers · 30/10/2008 10:18

I am now starting to wonder if this has all been somewhat of a publicity stunt. Andrew Sach was supposed to a guest on the show - but didnt show up - he had agreed the content to be broadcast(but toned down) - if you were upset by the messagges you would ban the BBc from broadcasting it at all). RB and JR both have books out - could this all be a publicity stunt that has backfired?

RB resigning isnt going to dent his pocketr - his main jobs are working in films and for channel 4. Andrew Sach already knew that RB and his grandaughter had slept together.

it is all about strange.

excuse my typos!

OP posts:
ssummers · 30/10/2008 10:20

sheik - i was thinking that - this inccident didnt shock me because for so long this has been a 'media norm' to humiliate people.

OP posts:
izyboy · 30/10/2008 10:20

ssummer my thoughts exactly RB is supposed to be her number one Facebook 'mate.'

LivingLaVidaLurker2 · 30/10/2008 10:21

ssummers, maybe you're right, I don't know. I wonder if perhaps I've become too desensitized to all the sleb rubbish that makes up our papers these days. I've read your replies and I'm sitting here thinking - why aren't I more disgusted by her?

I do understand that RB's mum doesn't get a warning, but I do feel it's slightly different as part of RB's persona (and success) is his willingness to talk about his sexual conquests. I would be very surprised if his mother is not aware that he has lots of sex with lots of different women.

As HumphreyCushion says, it would have been great if she'd maintained a dignified silence, but, on the other hand, if you're offered loads of money to talk about something that's already out there... I probably would take the money. (Though I can't imagine the Sun will ever pay for my headline: LivingLaVida and DH in Once A Fortnight Romp But Quite Quietly So As Not To Disturb The Children.)

SesHashadafab12weekscan · 30/10/2008 10:22

themildmanneredaxemurderer - even if the producers had made the right decision and not broadcast it, the messages would still have been left for Andrew Sachs. Whatever image he had of his grandaughter, that would still have been unpleasant. I agree though that if it hadn't been broadcast, we wouldn't be at the stage we are now.

ssummers · 30/10/2008 10:24

living - but she belongs to the 'satanic sluts' burlesque group! her persona isnt great either

OP posts:
izyboy · 30/10/2008 10:25

I reckon Andrew Sachs has been in the 'biz' long enough to see through the puerile nature of the 'joke'. Ok he'd probably be a bit annoyed but he's a 'comic' actor himself.

LivingLaVidaLurker2 · 30/10/2008 10:27

To clarify (and use correct grammar), I mean, why am I not disgusted by her selling her story rather than not disgusted by her sleeping with Russell Brand? Not my cup of tea, but each to their own.
