Doesnt this sort of stink of hypercritism? when she said I wont comment until I speak to my 'agent' - was what she meant - I could make some money out of this - I know if every time I speak I have The Sun logo above my head I will bask in the glory?

Isnt talking about how rubbish RB is in bed stooping to the very level that we are accusing RB of? Will RBs granfather not have to read this article and will they not be upset? Sachs has been very dignified about the whole inccident though it has to be said.

lol living! i know what you mean

I wonder if the BBC will suddenly rerelease Fawlty Towers as a DVD box set soon?

Anyone else get the impression that her and her Grandfather don't speak that much? They keep contradicting each other.

Her voice sounds like someone else but I can't put my finger on it. Also, she looks like Rosie Webster when she was a goth!

ssummers · 30/10/2008 10:33

lol - she does look like Rosie webster! or as sally would say it "rooooowsieee, you naughtyyyy girrl"

ssummers - I bet they do re-release Fawlty Towers! Just in time for Christmas too. I wonder if Jonathan and Russell will get copies in their Christmas stockings.

wintera · 30/10/2008 10:40

I checked Andrew Sach's IMDB comments page last week and there was nothing much on there. One thread even said 'Didn't he die a few years back?'

Now the poor man is all over the papers getting attention he never would have wanted. The sad thing is that he will probably get loads of job offers now. I mean it would be good for him I suppose, but sad that it took this to make it happen.

izyboy · 30/10/2008 10:49

I think it is more sad that we may lose 'colourful' figures from the media such as JR and RB. Monty Python were considered very 'controversial' in their day - they are now a comedy 'classic'. I bet Andrew S has more insight than we are giving him credit. Also if I was him I would be a bit miffed at the 'poor old man' patronising he is getting from GD et al.

expatinscotland · 30/10/2008 10:50

Good for her. Hope she gets some money out of those two cocklodgers.

izyboy · 30/10/2008 10:51

lol 2nd the Rosie Webster look lol.

beaniescreamyb · 30/10/2008 10:51

"Anyone else get the impression that her and her Grandfather don't speak that much"

yes. My grandfather would never have been remotely aware of what I was getting up to. Personally I think she milked the 'oh my poor grandfather, how could you do that to a poor defenceless man' thing a bit too much, particularly as she is now using this to make money and get more publicity.

Surely the stuff she is doing with the sun is causing him as much embarrassment and upset as the JR/RB thing?

It was, after all, only yesterday that she said she hoped for his sake it was all over.

wintera · 30/10/2008 10:53

Yes I agree Izyboy, with all you said. My Mum is 71 now, and knowing her like I do, I know for a fact she would be more offended by the 'Elderly old man/woman' references than anything else!

tuesdayafternoon · 30/10/2008 10:56

I bet Mandelson & Osborne are quietly delighted about this story

izyboy · 30/10/2008 10:57

'course wintera. I expect RB and JS were counting on him to get the 'joke' but it backfired a bit. I dont like the idea of humour being too narrowly defined and taken literally especially not by the likes of the Daily Mail and The Sun.

notnowbernard · 30/10/2008 10:57

I saw the slogan 'Wine me, dine me, 69 me" on a T-shirt being worn by a young woman on a flight back from Ibiza once

I was about 9, IIRC (am now 31)

The reason I remember is because I asked my Mother what it meant

So don't think Alanis Morissette got there first

beaniescreamyb · 30/10/2008 10:58

naaahhh - I remember it from years back - I am 38!

wintera · 30/10/2008 10:59

Kerry K will be made up too! And Max Clifford of course. Didn't Kerry K sack him last week as her publicist? He got another client to fill her place vary quickly!

izyboy · 30/10/2008 10:59

I dont necessarily think that RB and JR are absolutely hilarious but they at a bit experimental and witty sometimes. I think Radio 2 will be alot blander and more MOR without them.

izyboy · 30/10/2008 11:01

The british love a good bandwagon to climb onto.

wintera · 30/10/2008 11:02

Again I agree Izyboy - My friends always laugh that we would never have considered listening to radio 2 years ago, and now we all listen to it! Its come a long way. My 15 year old really loves radio 1 and 2. His fav?? Steve Wright in the afternoon!!!

izyboy · 30/10/2008 11:03

Yep wintera I think its a shame but obviously not everyone will share our opinion.

wintera · 30/10/2008 11:04

Sorry that should have said 15 year old Nephew!!

beaniescreamyb · 30/10/2008 11:04

Has JR resigned?

izyboy · 30/10/2008 11:05

I dont think so beanie but hasn't he been suspended pending equiries?

izyboy · 30/10/2008 11:05

sorry 'enquiries'.

priceyp · 30/10/2008 11:07

It's probably the springboard that she's been waiting for, handed to her on a plate. I'm sure Max Clifford is looking for a new client since KK left.

izyboy · 30/10/2008 11:10

Yep priceyp. Which is why it pisses me off a bit that it might lead to a narrower definintion of what is allowed to pass as humour on radio and tv. This all smacks a bit of McCathy-like 'witch tials' by the media.
