Cos it's a critique of totalitarianism/facism. I think it's probably her nirvana

Brave New World is an anti-utopia. You read it and realize that genetic cloning, conformism through fascism, drugs for behavior modification etc are very bad things.

I would think Republicans would love that message. Literate ones, at least.

She is currently in an ethics investigation for trying to get the state trooper sacked who was married to her sister.

I think the "supposed incident" actually took place, dittany - we just don't know which books were involved.

Blimey 'Flowers for Algernon'! when I lived in the States - and went to a Catholic school we studied that book.

Oh man. Is it just the BBC editing or are republicans really that thick?

"Well, she didn't use any really long words..." [intended as a compliment]

"I respect her... You know a lot of women juggle" [oh yeah - that qualifies you to have yer finger on the nuclear button...]

"You know up there in Alaska she has Canada on one side and Russia on the other - sure she's got international experience!"

God help us all.

And don't forget, Wilf "Alaska is also next to the North Pole so, obviously, she must also be friends with Santa."

regarding the Down's Syndrome baby, actually, I think statistically, the US has significantly less babies born with the syndrome because of in utero testing, so it is a fairly against-current thing to do.

the person who becomes the leader of the us, will control what happens in the rest of the world. its veyr short sighted to say 'the americans deserve her' what she is and believes in will impact the rest of theworld

Agree with stitch. Election of George W Bush was hilarious back then. Not so funny now, after the mess he left in his wake.

She sounds like quite a lot of my family who would/will pray for just about anything and not see that it's in the slightest bit weird. Ditto would ban books/gay marriage/abortion but they are GOOD people.
I think that we are quick on the smug attack...we are so much further advanced in our thinking that our way is better?

Seems to me that America is a god fearing nation who believe strongly in flag God etc and fundamentally don't want to be talked down to by men of learning as was proven by Bush being elected/reelected. Lots of them like that he can't articulate well, as they can't and his religious leanings and mental war ideas sit well with them.
Palin could be a very good thing for the Republicans.
