I haven't even looked at it lately, bundle - I only read this one because the headline was about Bristol so I wondered what they'd got.

In terms of intelligent comment I thought Jon Stewart's was a neat counter to Fox's!

WendyWeber · 04/09/2008 18:17

cod, is that you? If so, who are you please?

Earlybird · 04/09/2008 18:22

LewisFan - I don't think Sarah Palin has made a big deal about having a Down Syndrome baby, I think the media has made a big deal out of it.

MegBusset · 04/09/2008 20:23

She wants to start banning books...

MegBusset · 04/09/2008 20:29

Here is the list of books she tried to have banned.

bundle · 04/09/2008 20:43

The Merchant of Venice?

And what's she got against Revolting Rhymes??

bundle · 04/09/2008 20:43

tissy · 04/09/2008 21:04

banning Judy Blume books?

so if young teens don't read books about sex, they won't do it?

tissy · 04/09/2008 21:06

there are some seriously important works of literature in that list?

!, not ?, obviously

MegBusset · 04/09/2008 21:08

Hmm, on further reading it turns out there is some doubt over the veracity of the list of books. But not that she did try to get certain books banned.

bozza · 04/09/2008 21:19

Only 14, but am currently on the catcher in the rye which will bump me up to 15.

LittleBella · 04/09/2008 21:22

On the bright side, if she does get elected she'll provide us all with years of amusement

bundle · 04/09/2008 21:23

yes, but grappling with korean nuclear facilities isn't that funny

ByTheSea · 04/09/2008 21:26

Whoa, that was some list, even if not real.

I can't stand her and really fear the McCain/Palin ticket winning. I don't think speaking against her has anything to do with feminism or misogyny. Here's a great op-ed about her from Gloria Steinem:

Wrong Woman, Wrong Message

WendyWeber · 04/09/2008 21:32

Have any of you read the looooong post The Truth about Sarah Palin on MegB's first link, from someone called Anne who lives in Wasilla (the town where SP was Mayor) and campaigned against her attempts to sack the Chief Librarian for refusing to ban the books she wanted banning?

It is quite chilling. I bet John McCain won't dare to cross her now she's on board.

CoteDAzur · 04/09/2008 21:36

Given her world view, I understand her problem with Decameron and Lord of the Flies, but why try to get Brave New World banned? I don't get it.
