MN is a wonderful place where interesting discussions evolve - but personally I feel v uncomfortable discussing present day politics in Isreal /Palestine on a thread about the holocaust.

lisalisa - if Israel really does not want to govern these areas then why hasn't Israel GIVEN THEM BACK? and why are they TAKING MORE AS WE SPEAK ? I have already said that I acknowledge Arafat's failure to negotiate was a major obstacle to peace, but you will forgive me if I really cannot be expected to just accept the building of the wall, with its accompanying theft of Palestinian land, without protest. And on your final point, yes the suicide bombers are ' undesirables' but no more so than the night time army raids into the refugee camps where civilian houses are bulldozed, rocketed and children shot dead. That, to me, is pretty ' undesirable'. I read on the BBC teletext earlier this evening that the Israelis have decided to temporarily suspend these raids , having concluded that ' they inflame Palestinian hatred and thus create more suicide bombers'. Well, are we re-inventing the wheel or what? I wonder how many really clever politicians it took to figure that one out!! so perhaps a chink of light is emerging. I think you and I will have to agree to differ on this one at any rate.
