Annie Leibovitz took the photos of the 15-year-old partially covered with a sheet. Story here

What do we think?

I particularly disliked that bedroomy one. Dodgy.

expatinscotland · 29/04/2008 11:26

vile.

completely vile and utterly irresponsible both to shoot and to publish.

and leibovitz herself the mother of 3 daughters.

i really think the world is looking too deeply into this, don't get it.

morningpaper · 29/04/2008 11:31

yes they DO look like they are about to snog

OP posts:
expatinscotland · 29/04/2008 11:31

but let's look at her background, very similar to Britney's.

i guess you've got to have lived there to know, but there's a term for folks like Billy Ray Cyrus and Brit's parents.

i won't use it here, because folks don't get it and it causes an unholy row.

but it rhymes with kite crash.

expatinscotland · 29/04/2008 11:32

too much like JonBenet Ramsay photos all over again.

southeastastra · 29/04/2008 11:35

hardly

expatinscotland · 29/04/2008 11:38

look at her, south!

she looks like Lolilta!

she's FIFTEEN!

that's rank.

a horrible, horrible message about underage girls.

paraded around for the benefit of others and goes along with it.

that's tawdry and incredibly irresponsible.

expatinscotland · 29/04/2008 11:39

Gawd i'm so glad i don't have to live in that country anymore.

i forgot how sick it can be.

expatinscotland · 29/04/2008 11:43

a place where polygamists were left on their own to systematically abuse underage girls and 'marry' them to much older men, where DNA tests on children taken into foster care have revealed that some of them suffer from genetic disease as a result of inbreeding, where little girls are routinely paraded around like street hookers as their parents proudly look on with their palms outstretched for the money, where 'family values' mean they are hte biggest producers of porn in the world.

yeah, there's nothing wrong with those photos.

they're 'sexy'.

wtf.

Tortington · 29/04/2008 11:43

rhymes with kite crash...pmsl.

good point cod.

MrsMattie · 29/04/2008 11:44

slag

Only joking! I think it's ridiculous. She'll be a Britney style car crash, snorting coke off her baby's changing table, by the age of 21. Mark my words.

southeastastra · 29/04/2008 11:45

surely they're not all like that are they expat. anyway never heard of her now i have so i suppose it's worked.

morningpaper · 29/04/2008 11:46

My main objections is that this is a "wholesome Disney" celebrity marketed at primary-school aged girls, who is now giving the message that to get along as a woman in showbusiness you need to take off your clothes.

She is MASSIVE in my local primary school, on non-uniform days ALL the girls wear Hannah Montana clothes

V. depressing

I wouldn't want dd1 draped in a bedsheet in Vanity Fair

ditto dd2

now I would do it in a shot but it would cost them a bit in retouching

odd pics of her with her father, bit gooey eyed imo

morningpaper · 29/04/2008 11:53

shudder at the thought of posing like that with MY father

I would obviously pose like that with HER father

OP posts:
Oliveoil · 29/04/2008 11:57

they wouldn't let my dad on the set, he looks like Captain Birdseye

Lauriefairycake · 29/04/2008 12:01

I think it's ikky and yuk

I will never forget when Sam Fox first came out one of my dad's friends saying I could do that as I had the figure for it. Followed by my dad and all his friends looking me up and down. My skin crawled and I was 15.

Yuk, double yuk and yuk

Elffriend · 29/04/2008 12:07

My insinctive reaction is that this was neither bad judgement not dumb. It was quite calculated (if maybe risky) and downright cynical. At 15 her 'squeaky' appeal is surely about to run out of steam? Time to re-invent methinks and set the scene for a "shocking" christina Agiwotsersknickers video/single/"career".

Very nasty. Very exploitative.

But I suspect wholly thought through. Particularly by the parents.

jingleyjen · 29/04/2008 12:11

awful, horrid, lots of things why can't she keep her clothes on!

expatinscotland · 29/04/2008 12:11

I agree, Elf.

Billy Ray needs $$$ from somewhere.
