Fio- probaly more her behaviour & lack of social skills that alerted them she probably showed an unhealthy concern for where her "father" was & was so traumatised by her situation they knew summat was up but I'm sure never guessed the half -just generally suspicious, talk about a can of worms

I heard on the news tonight they're looking at several missing persons/children cases for the last 20 odd years in that area in case he could be a suspect.

noname yes you're right, anger is a natural and probably healthy response.

I guess I just don't see the point of 300 posts suggesting various horrible punishments and last night when I came on it just pissed me off - it seemed to me that so many threads on mumsnet degenerate into what I can only see as idiocy tbh. The value of this site for me, as well as the advice, is the thoughtfulness and knowledge of posters and I wince when I see kneejerk Sun-reader quality posts. I get enough of that in real life and I find it depressing to find it on my fave website.

IMO that is a pointless (as well as aggressive) question. If I want to say I think a post is idiotic I'll do so. Just as someone else will say they think my post is holier than thou. Leaving aside the fact that I'd rather be holier than thou than stupider than thou, people can say what they like on chatsites and other people can come and tell them they're wrong. I think a list of revenge fantasies are stupid; others think it's bracing. Both have the right to tell the other they're talking crap if they want.
