What a sad end to a sad story

I've felt really affected by it too - he is part of our children's heritage of childhood, and it's such a sad story. Marina, you are absolutely right.

Fimbo · 14/04/2008 13:08

I feel sorry for Kirsten O'Brien too, she is bound to be asked about him.

SueBaroo · 14/04/2008 14:03

A bit crushed by it, so awfully sad. Not normally one to take this sort of thing too much to heart, I suppose every now and then it catches you unawares, but yes, I've been a bit tearful about it. Just the depth of that kind of despair is enormous.

ktmoomoo · 14/04/2008 14:07

very sad by this news we all huge fans of his ' wat a waste of life and talent

AnAngelWithin · 14/04/2008 15:54

oh what a waste of life. apparently he hung himself, but was well out of public view.

kay1981 · 14/04/2008 17:02

RIP Mark, god bless you x

binkleandflip · 14/04/2008 17:08

I am bloody annoyed that drugs are the catalyst in this story. What a waste.

Hope he is at peace now with his soulmate.

getmeouttahere · 14/04/2008 17:17

This is a cautionary tale about drug use if ever I saw one.

Very very sad waste of life.

MissPaulaYates · 14/04/2008 17:18

yes getmeoutahere you are right

expatinscotland · 14/04/2008 17:22

FYIAD, the next to you poke fun at those Diana people and those people who leave flowers and teddies, I'm going to show you this thread again .

donnie · 14/04/2008 17:26

such a waste of a life...very sad.

ladytophamhatt · 14/04/2008 18:10

I had to hold back the tears when telling Ds1 too. I wasn't going to tell him but he saw it on the BBC site when I logged on.

His cousins were here so he held it together, as I know he would have cried otherwise.

I do feel so sad about, sad that ist such a waste and justthe thought of how broken he must have been to feel this was his only chioce.

Heartbreaking....

DrNortherner · 14/04/2008 18:14

"This is a cautionary tale about drug use if ever I saw one." Completley agree.

Such a sad waste of his life and his girlfriends.

SparklyGothKat · 14/04/2008 18:33

Kimi · 14/04/2008 18:41

So heartbreaking.
Poor man.

libralady · 14/04/2008 22:05

This is a truly heartbreaking story all around. But was it really necessary for the London Transport Police to release the fact that he had hung himself? There are some truly upset people out there now, especially little ones who watched him on the television. I for one have had to gently explain to my DS what hanging meant which wasn't a pleasant experience, but I was not going to lie to him after he heard those words on the news.
Such a cruel waste of two lives, but now they are at peace and together again.

Mercy · 14/04/2008 22:12

getmeouttahere - very true.

I hardly ever watch the news when my dc are around for this very reason.

MrsClinton · 15/04/2008 10:08

dd1 was very upset by this news. So am I actually and we had a little cry together..

what a sad loss for his family and everyone who enjoyed the big/small pictures and other joyous pieces of craft tv.

iMum · 15/04/2008 16:05

startingoveragain · 16/04/2008 15:28

this is so sad

MascaraOHara · 16/04/2008 15:29

Feel so sorry for him, he had such a hard time and the press implying he's done stuff to her as well.

My 5YO is quite upset by it all as heavy coverage on the news and newsround.

Very sad

Monkeytrousers · 16/04/2008 15:33

Don't know how it's a cautionary tale about drugs. They were hardly mainlining crack. I thought it was a congentital condition that made her react the way she did. That could've happend with any amount of drugs and alcohol, even prescription drugs.

Lets not judge them harsly for doing what mullions of people do in the privacy of their own homes, especuially people without kids.
