Oh - how terribly, terribly sad. What a waste of 2 lives.

IdrisTheDragon · 13/04/2008 18:04

That is so very sad

RTKangaMummy · 13/04/2008 18:09

DS was a huge fan

dizzydixies · 13/04/2008 18:10

just watching this on the news

a remote part of paddington station? but apparently not hit by a train

what a waste

2sugarsagain · 13/04/2008 18:11

Just heard this on the radio. How very, very sad.

Carmenere · 13/04/2008 18:12

So, so sad

My kids were big fans. I was a big fan. So so sad.

As I said on the other thread, he was in so much pain. Natasha's mum, Carmen, who he was staying with at the end, said he used to cry in his sleep. So at least he is at peace.

Terrible end for him. I'm really sad about this. I've had a bad feeling since he was reported missing n Monday.

BreeVanDerCampLGJ · 13/04/2008 18:13

You can't help wondering if the BBC had kept their powder dry before forcing him to resign, he may have felt he still had a focus and a reason to get up every morning.

Bastards.

Sparkler · 13/04/2008 18:14

How terribly, terribly sad. RIP Mark.

edam · 13/04/2008 18:14

Did they force him to resign, though? I thought it was him who said he couldn't go back.

Spidermama · 13/04/2008 18:15

LGJ it was a very difficult position to be in. It was public knowlege they'd had a cocaine binge and I don't think any childrens TV presenter could survive that revelation with or without the death asepct.

I'm also really . Ds loved him, especially in "Big picture, small picture" - it was his favourite thing in SMarteenies, and he used to get quite upset if it was a SMarteenies without big picture.

BreeVanDerCampLGJ · 13/04/2008 18:20

I suppose SM, but would it have killed them to say nothing until after the inquest. He may never have worked again in childrens television, but at least he would have had.... oh I don't know... I just feel desperately sorry for all involved.

jingleyjen · 13/04/2008 18:22

really very sad...

Spidermama · 13/04/2008 18:22

I do too. I thought he was great. What a horribly unlucky, unpleasant chain of events. I wish he could have recovered.

Oh, that's so sad........ I don't think the BBC can be blamed - Richard Bacon went on to have a TV career after being 'outed' for drugs........ But to have to deal with the death of your partner, whatever the circumstances, must be pretty devastating - made even harder when it's all over the TV and newspapers etc.,

It's very, very sad and I only hope he is at peace... RIP...

Whizzz · 13/04/2008 18:24

Isn't it sad that no one could help him

edam · 13/04/2008 18:26

Particularly poignant, in a way, that he wasn't hit by a train and was somewhere out of the way - suggests he was bloody thoughtful even about the manner of his going, perhaps. As in, not giving some poor train driver nightmares.

Feel so sorry for his family and friends, especially his girlfriend's mother.

expatinscotland · 13/04/2008 18:28

I hope he has gone on to a better place.

Whatever gets a person there, it's an awful feeling to be in a place where you feel death is such a relief that you seek it out - a very lonely place, it is truly terrible to be so ill.

I wish he could have been able to chose differently, but although he hasn't, I hope he has found the peace this life could not offer him.
