DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE LOU33 IS?

IS SHE BY THE COAST?

THIALAND,

MALDIVES under water we loved them when we were there 3 years ago.

An old work colleague of dh went out to live in Phuket about a year ago as a diver. His name's Tony Andrews - does anyone know if he would be ok? Think he lives with his girlfriend.

Kanga, I haven't seen the news today (I don't like to watch it when the kids are in the room) and I don't get a newspaper, but I'm sure it's the main story. It's certainly the main story on the New York Times website.

I just wondered as it is so far away and maybe not a place americans would go on holiday IYSWIM
BUT I guess it is now a world wide story

I can't stop thinking about all the people on Bandos in Maldives I can't work out where they could go.

There are no cars to be crashed about to injure people but I can't work out what you could do or where you could go

It is so beautiful and all the people we met there were so friendly and kind.

How could you stop yourself being swept out to sea?

DS learnt to swim there 3 years ago.

am still up even though it is 2am. think i have found one of my friends on the list of injured foreigners at one of the hospitals in krabi. just don't know about the rest of her family who were visiting, or her thai hubby

sarahhu -it was me that made that comment about tourits and locals. I wasn't saying its right, of course I wasn't, wouldn't dream of it. It's just that that's how it's reported over here sometimes as people cannot contact their loved ones so you tend to hear if tourists have lost their lives. I'm very sorry if it upset you or anyone else, I can assure you it wasn't meant intentionally

sarah - glad to hear your friend seems to be hopefully only injured IYKWIM. Also glad to hear Lou & Co are alright as well. So where is the list of injured?

Thank goodness lou is ok. First i heard is when a dd's godfather, who lives in bangkok, texted me at 9am to say "i am alive, hotel destroyed, going inland to safety". thought WTF? now spent the day shocked by the devastation. Hope everyone else's friends/family are equally ok.

I could cheerfully strangle dh. we had to go out this afternoon so I had my mobile on (or so I thought) hoping for news from lou. Just got back logged straight on here - and she's OK thank God. Checked my phone and it was off - dh switched it off after I lent it to him for a second - he's "sorry!" I had had a text too saying they are all OK. Can't tell you how relieved I am.

MI, I'm so relieved your parents are OK.

Sarahu, thankyou for your kind offers of help when you have worries of your own. It is so, so awful. Yahoo says 11,300 dead - I can't even get my head around that

Has SM been around? I didn't text her - I thought if by chance she hadn't seen the news it wasn't worth sending her into a panic until there was some solid news about lou. She's been having a hard enough time lately.

My thoughts and prayers are with everyone out there.

I have been here all day and no sign of SM

I have never met LOU but she has been so kind to me concerning my DS that my immediate thought was for her and her family when I heard the news this morning.

I was so glad we have a laptop here as I would have been going frantic not knowing.

thank goodness that she has managed to text to others.

Have been at the inlaws all day and desparate to get on here to check on Lou. So glad to se she is OK. One of my team from work is in Thailand for a month. No idea where she went though.
