All the losses are very, very sad but I have to say everytime I hear that a child has died around the ages of my dds I find it so hard to imagine how the parents must be feeling. I have been looking at my two today trying to imagine not having them around and it just doesn't go in. IYKWIM

I saw the cross that a British Mum had carved her two lost sons' names on (I think they were 8 and 6) and left on the beach where they died (her fiance died too). The article said she's in hospital under sedation. I wouldn't want to survive if my children died

That has gone through my mind too. The pain and sadness that all these people must be feeling. I wonder to myself if I was in that situation if I would wish that I had died too rather than be the survivor of all my family. {sad]

Desparately trying not to watch much news now becuase of DS1.

We always go to Brighton on new years day and on Saturday he said "We'd better not go on the beach incase one of those big waves get us"

We told him that we would be safe but it really sruck me. He was happy to go and throw stones into the sea but I felt terribly sad that he had felt scared of the sea as he loves it normally.

I simply cannot imagine in my wildest dreams what the survivors must be thinking now. The sea scares me now for them it must be 1000 times worse.

lou33, i did check alot earlier (from my cousins computer) that you were okay xxx Just wanted to say i am so glad you are okay, i was so worried about you. My builder is in phuket but we are hoping he is okay too. It looks like we have lost a family from here in sumatra, they had two young sons (9 and 5 I think) It is so sad and devastating

I am by the sea aswell and to think how big and powerful the tsunami must have been is just so scarey. Quite amazed at some of the survival stories though, the woman who tied herself and her son to a cable attached to the house (but sadly lost her daughter) but how did they think these things so quickly.

Is Lou home today?

Even Dh is asking if they are all safe now.

For Sarahu and other who have posted that live in the area affected, I hope that you are all getting help and aid now and have found loved ones safe and well. My heart goes out to you all.

SPARKLER1 · 03/01/2005 21:17

Look forward to hearing from you soon Lou33 and to know that you are home safe and sound. We are all concerned for you and your family. Am looking forward to dh going to work tomorrow - will hopefully find out if there is any news on his work colleague who was on honeymoon in Thailand.

Oh FFS -

The US Govt has contributed (well, pledged) £182m. How many hours in Iraq is that?

kangasantamummy · 03/01/2005 21:50

hope you get home safe and sound LOU and your family

look forward to hearing you have all touched down

My mum has just been on the phone with the news that a lady from her church was killed in Phuket. Her husband and children survived.

hazlinh · 04/01/2005 07:45

what a stupid article. the little kids here in malaysia who have been orphaned or left homeless by the tsunamis are now traumatised and need psychiatric help. they're certainly not "wow"-ed by them.

Does anyone know how I would go about finding out if a family I know who moved back over to Thailand (the mother was Thai) are safe, I have no idea where in Thailand they live. Their little boy was in playgroup and nursery with my DS1, we lost touch a bit when our children were put in different classes in School but the last time I spoke to her she said her husband wanted them to go to live in Thailand and had put their house and shop up for sale, she didn't want to go and I've never seen her since so can only assume they went.

for anyone who has lost friends/family, it's such an awful thing and the enormity of it is only just beginning to sink in.

lou33 · 04/01/2005 17:43

Finally back in england about 6am this morning, so still tired. We were met from the plane by a few policemen, anyone who had come from an affected area was. We had to go and give personal details and see if we wanted counselling, clothes etc, but tbh it would be better put to use on others, we are fine in comparison to others.

Wong, thanks for your birthday card

I'm craving english food atm, it seems so exotic now.

emmatmg · 04/01/2005 17:45
