perhaps they just ask the family "have you seen her" and expect them to be honest about it

Confirmed that she was under bed at that address. Unconfirmed it was grandparents house.

Now confirmed by sources according to BBC that she has een found under the bed in a relative's house

hasn't it been suggested that her step-father was abusing her and she was too scared to go home the night before she vanished cos she was in trouble for something?

The mother kept saying she was taking by someone she knew. Tis all very odd.

NA - that was suggested, but apparently the whole family (including her father) ridiculed such claims, and said that they stood by the step-father.

I would have thought they would turn every realtive's house upsidedown. After all, one of the family is almost always involved. (please note the "almost")

oh right i thought it was her mum's parents and brother who said it. i remember reading it on here i think it was. was that a load of rubbish then? probably came from the sun!

oh which grandparents I wonder. Dad told to stay home and wait for info. Makes you wonder wtf has gone on? Trying to punish the mum? Genuine fear? Crikey I am normally loathe to speculate but I smell a rat.

Wasn't it made public early in the investigation that Shannon had said - or written on her wall - that she wanted to leave home, and / or live with her Dad?

They are now saying that it was NOT her grandparents.

Police have arrested a man.

It is possible that she was not abducted, and was living happily there all along.

Not sure if they are still saying it was the grandparents house or not though...

A neighbour apparently reported this male after hearing noises

well for a lone male to keep a young girl for three weeks and her to be unhurt would be nothing more than miraculous imo

did shannon know this male?
