Air traffic control down over UK currently

Anyone else heard this? A national shutdown of air traffic control as system goes down.

Oh that’s rubbish if you need to be at home. Do you have somewhere to stay?

unfortunately airlines aren’t going to be good at compensating here as it’s clearly not their fault

I have a question, when a flight is cancelled and you choose a new flight will that new flight show up straight away or will it still show as the cancelled flight until that departure time has passed ?

On the app? I’m not sure. We changed our holiday from one destination to another and it took a few hours for the app to update, that was TUI though.

Well we got to the airport and the tui drop off assistant at bag check said the flight is actually only looking like a 30 min delay now! Got through security easily and are now sat in wetherspoons...seen lots of people heading back to security as flights are still being cancelled though.

Ds1 supposed to be flying back from New York tomorrow. Flight was cancelled today. Hope his is ok.

@ToodlePi yeah on the app and website. Once I selected the new flights it sent me an email itinerary but it was the same flight ! Lol if I don't laugh I will cry

I cannot imagine how stressed you are right now.

You would think with todays events they would have asked staff if they would be willing to work overtime to take calls from customers.

@ToodlePi massively stressed. The worst thing is ds is heartbroken. He is autistic and can't cope with change as it is let alone a sudden and disappointing change like this.

The lines close in 1 min, I've been on hold for an hour and twenty mins now. I just want to know if the flights have been changed because the app and website is a crock of crap and isn't showing me !

@StillWantingADog and @Grrrpredictivetex my airline have told me that they will reimburse 'reasonable' amounts spent on a hotel (whatever reasonable means!) so I've booked a room and just have to hope they're as good as their word. It's a fair amount of money as obviously booking hotels on the day doesn't come cheap anywhere and I'm in an expensive city. I know the incident itself wasn't the fault of the airlines but the communication hasn't been great.

I really feel for all of you stuck tonight. We left Spain mid morning and landed just in time it seems. I hope everyone is where they want to be asap

actually being stuck on a plane in the tarmac is like my biggest fear.

I have had no email so I'll head for the airport in a couple of hours.
Though I checked the Birmingham airport website and it says there are twenty flights leaving at 6am like I'm supposed to be,so who knows. Mine states it's going ahead.
I feel awful for those who find they have a cancellation and do hope something can be sorted soon.

We fly from MAN to Heraklion at 05:55 tomorrow, we’ve had a text saying to head to the airport but I don’t feel confident.

Spent most of the day in tears. My son has autism and won’t understand and I’ve worked so many hours to afford this, all the whole thinking it was worth it to be able to go on holiday.

DH is stuck in Spain he spent 6 hours sitting in a plane on the tarmac today only to be taken off of, bussed back to the terminal and taken to a hotel, he had been at the airport since 7am! 12 hours of waiting. The DC are really upset they just want their Dad home. Hoping he can get a flight tomorrow now.

My flight has been delayed.

we’re still showing as on time on the easyjet live page - does anyone know how accurate this has been? Or if there’s a better way to get info?
