Air traffic control down over UK currently

Anyone else heard this? A national shutdown of air traffic control as system goes down.

Hope it gets sorted soon, flying from Manchester in a few hours!

Flight radar still shows planes taking off and landing. One took off from Luton a few minutes ago for Edinburgh.

meanwhile the daily Mail is reporting uk airspace completely shut. Idiots. 😁

Is it likely to get sorted by tomorrow morning/early hours ? Due to fly at 6am

Oh dear. I'm flying with son from Birmingham to Majorca early in the morning but understand the storms there have really disrupted things too.

Thought it was quiet! I can usually see the planes taking off from Manchester, I’m working and sat in my front window and have now noticed I’ve not seen any for a bit, usually every 2 mins or so.

BBC News 24 is pretty much showing FlightTracker24 live, as its news, with a few 'talking heads' thrown in for commentary. I hope it's paying a decent business subscription.

Manchester Airport saying it is open as usual for overpriced drink and food but 'check with your flight operator' about timings. No shit sherlock.

Also due to fly tomorrow I'm guessing air traffic issue mean we won't be able to claim the usual compensation if our flights are delayed more than three hours?

My daughter is currently sat on board with no departure time from Gatwick.

There WAS a cyberattack back in around April, and I’m sure there are many who would love to be able to pull off an attack like this. But to be fair, technology has always stuffed up at the most inconvenient moments!

There's a dribble of departures from Heathrow - BA have just gone one off to JFK..

Looking at Flightradar the spacing between flights down the approach there is unusually large and has got to the point recently that at times there's nothing coming down the approach at all....pretty much unheard off at LHR outside early hours AM.

We're due to fly home from Spain in the morning, hoping it's sorted by then...

Huggiess i'm the same. I'm not going to tell son until I know. We are leaving here at 2am so got a few hours at least for it all to sort hopefully.

Sadly the longer this goes on with aircraft and crews out of position the longer it is going to take for the schedules to recover.

Flight was due to leave Mallorca at 12.20 UK time

We've been sitting on the runway for 2.5 hours so far

Just been told we won't leave before 20.30 UK time, if we're lucky.....

We're leaving home at 2am aswell. I'm really hoping it'll be sorted by then. Don't even mind if there is a delay just don't want it cancelled.
