Anyone else due to fly to Rhodes in the next week? We’re due to go next Tuesday, waiting to hear something from Jet2 as think our hotel may be one of those affected by the fire.

@StillWantingADog

. It’s a difficult call for airlines though if local authorities are insisting it is ok.

Yep...

But hotels in areas unaffected are being used to house those fleeing from the fires - including local families. So really mightn't be wise

We were due to leave on Saturday 22nd and opted not to go. We just got a full refund.

People are definitely still arriving for holidays. We are sat on the run way at Rhodes waiting to take off. We only arrived Fri but evacuated sat night and thankfully quickly decided to get out ASAP.
No idea what are the people are heading to, but there's still a steady stream of visitors which seems completely insane to us.

There are experts flying in to help from all over europe.

Going on what our local family and extended family and friends are saying, it's probably best not to travel there in the next week or so. Even people living miles away are involved in helping out - not just where the fires are, but around the airport and so on.

I have Greek family living on Corfu. I know that they rely on summer tourism and don't want people cancelling their holidays. Obviously if you are in affected areas you will need to but if you are staying on the other side of the island then you might not need to cancel. I would advise following official advice.

Hmm don't think the kids and families we saw would be useful experts.

They are probably going to an unaffected area?
