Anyone else due to fly to Rhodes in the next week? We’re due to go next Tuesday, waiting to hear something from Jet2 as think our hotel may be one of those affected by the fire.

Absolute devastation.The main focus is saving human lives right now I would be prepared for the worst and hope for the best. If you're going end of next week you maybe lucky. There are a lot of displaced people tourists and locals. Just thinking about the wildlife makes me really sad

We’ve got friends out there right now. They’ve been evacuated out to a school and had to leave a lot of their belongings behind. Not sure what they’ll do next. It’s been scary I think.

Are they getting everyone off the island?

Me too, there is going to be a massive clear up to be done, the power plant has been damaged I believe. So I doubt it will be business as usual for quite a while, don't think I'd want to see the aftermath to be honest

The videos online don't look good. Reading some postings on twitter by people caught up in this, they seem to be walking for miles with their suitcases in 40 degrees trying to get to somewhere safe.

According to the news 3 hotels have burned down. That is extremely sad. It's difficult to know how this will go, it could get worse, or they may get it under control. With such high temps and winds it's a guessing game.

Some people have posted that they were evacuated as precaution some saying because fires very close to their hotels. Some pictures are people with wet towels running and some of people in pools at hotels. It's just too hard to call right now.

Jet2 are probably trying to get people out so haven't contacted people due to go. Most airlines have posted that flights are running as normal. Maybe try wait till tomorrow and see how things are and try contact them again. It's rubbish for everyone.

Not the whole island, but the main road that runs down through all the east coast resorts isn't usable they're commandeering all types of boats to get people to safety.

Yes, sorry, Jet2 need to put all their resources into making sure the people already there are safe and looked after. You are just going to have to be patient and leave them alone right now.

The polish fire brigade have arrived today too, but they will need the road obviously

Also have a friend who’s in Lindos, just messaged him after hearing this.

They have not been evacuated and are carrying on as normal for the moment, other then there being some power cuts.

So I think it might be confined at the moment to a certain area.

My son is just on a flight into Gatwick. He hasn’t mentioned the fires and I didn’t know until about an hour ago …I am usually so up to date with the news ,not sure how I missed it ! Think it did is on the other side of the island.

It's not in Lindos yet but it's affecting the resort south where the big hotels are and the villages where a lot of the Lindos families live. Its quite barren there but the surrounding areas are affected as is the main road I believe

I'd assume your holidays aren't happening tbh the infrastructure is under immense pressure

But insurance won’t pay out will it? Unless FCDO say don’t travel

We too are due to fly on Tuesday. I’ve emailed the hotel and they have confirmed the area is evacuated. ( Lardos) I’ve checked my travel insurance and it covers wildfires etc but I’m hoping the travel company will just relocate us.
