Just been reading about this. How awful for her partner and children. Really hope she is found soon

they’ve narrowed it down to a 10 minute window and don’t believe she left the river area so they think most likely she’s fell in the river 😢 so bizarre if that is the case when it doesn’t appear to be fast moving or deep but as people have said, it is possible

catgirl1976 · 03/02/2023 14:54

It sounds like the police are convinced she has fallen into the river. I still hope she will be found alive and well but it seems unlikely. If the worst has happened I hope they find her so her poor family can have some closure and answers. Desperately sad

SlaveToTheVibe · 03/02/2023 14:55

So apparently the dog was normally off it’s harness.

Allgoodthings1 · 03/02/2023 14:57

There was a case near me when a drunk person fell in the river on a night out and they were certain that’s where he was. It took them such a long time to find the body despite a huge search. I googled to see how long it actually was and it was 4 weeks later 😔 Tragic that she’s potentially in there somewhere and hasn’t been found

ofwarren · 03/02/2023 14:59

So it's looking like a freak accident then.
Poor woman

lalalalalaalalala · 03/02/2023 15:08

Yes, that was my thinking as well.. a fream accident, in which she perhaps got dizzy and fainted, while standing at the edge. Or she hit her head on a stone while falling and passed out.

The river was shallow and apparently people can currently stand in it.

I suppose when you are unconscious you could drown in a puddle.

I hope her family gets closure soon.

KatherineJaneway · 03/02/2023 15:11

How sad

They are pretty certain she never left that riverbank via a path/road as the 10 minute period unaccounted for is covered by CCTV and dash-cam footage so the only way is via the river. So it looks like poor Nicola accidentally fell into the water. The dog lead was on the ground near the riverbank so she may have put down her phone on the bench and then attended to her dog and then the accident occurred. God bless her. I hope they can find her soon as her poor family are going through hell.

ChocChipOwl · 03/02/2023 15:16

@lemmein maybe learn to not say really stupid things on a public forum? Embarrassing.

Where did this info come from out of interest? I’m reading that it was always wearing it. Different stories all over the place.

Jebboo · 03/02/2023 15:18

Why is it relevant in the slightest if her husband looks like an American murderer?

It was just confirmed in the police press conference that started at 2.45pm shown on Sky news.

BluIsTheColor · 03/02/2023 15:22

The police officer in the press conference said she was wearing a Fitbit and they are investigating.
Can a Fitbits movements be be tracked in the way a mobile phones pings to phone masts can be tracked?

oh, thanks.

Dilemmaemmaaa · 03/02/2023 15:26

@BluIsTheColor id imagine you’re bound to be able to get something from it, not for ordinary people but the police could probably get some sort of data. The battery wouldn’t last that long though I don’t think

You said he looked shifty when he spoke to the press earlier too !
It was shitty things to say no matter what you meant. There was no need !!

lemmein · 03/02/2023 15:35

@EtonMessy

I was responding to this comment earlier in the thread:

The partner's interview is being ripped apart on Twitter. I'm the type to suspect the partner first but thought as the week went on that it wasn't him but now I'm not so sure.

I also gave an explanation of why someone might appear shifty in those sort of circumstances which doesn't automatically conclude they're guilty of a crime 🙄

JellyBeanFactory · 03/02/2023 15:40

As a female, lone dog walker of 30+ years, I try not to allow fears or "what ifs" to creep in. I thought of Nicola today while out with mine and, while by the river, silently asked for her to be found. I hope and pray for a good outcome.

Looking at the area on the news the water doesn't seem dangerous at all, especially for someone who can swim. It is so strange. But I understand why the police think it's the most likely explanation after the information given in the press conference this afternoon.

davegrohll · 03/02/2023 16:01

I've been following this story, how awful for Nicola and her family. It does indeed seem as if she has somehow ended up in the water. I'm just confused though as even if she did fall and maybe hit her head or something and sadly drowned, if the water isn't fast flowing how can they not find her yet?
It makes sense though as to why the dog was found running around anxious as it probably saw what happened, if there was ever a time that animals could talk !

Sadless · 03/02/2023 16:10

I suppose she could have fallen in to the river but they should be explaining why they think that. They have never expected a third party involvement why?

So now they want clothing that might be found surely if she's in the water all that will still be with her.
Very confused feel sorry for her family and friends they must be going through hell and if it's true waiting for her body to show up somewhere now.
