BBC News - Nicola Bulley: Partner describes perpetual hell over missing mum
www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-lancashire-64450243

Just been reading about this. How awful for her partner and children. Really hope she is found soon

@Baileysandcream that is true, could be the same on strava although I don’t know how the privacy settings work on there but it seems she stopped posting her walks about the same time

Dilemmaemmaaa · 03/02/2023 13:48

She also has maybe changed the privacy settings so that walks don’t show up because she’s on work calls etc during them. I know I would do that so my boss couldn’t see where I was, in case they checked

So someone has discovered that a guy called Simon has been following 3 strava accounts in Nicola's name (or variations of her name). Apparently she has an ex husband called Simon, maybe it's the same person?
Apparently he goes out with someone from Corrie now although he has said he hasn't seen NB for 12 years. Probably not him strava stalking his ex wife then but still weird that someone is following her strava.

Where the fuck is she?

To say again, Simon lives in Camberley. He appears to be one of a number of people who have started following her on Strava following her disappearance. He isn't the only one who seems to have followed one or more Nicola Bulleys before realising she is Nikki Bulley on Strava. Most of her Strava followers seem to have started following her since her disappearance.

I can find no evidence to support the existence of an ex-husband called Simon. The only marriage record for someone of her name and age shows that the husband was called Barry, not Simon.

From the Skippool Creek carpark or from the water? From the video in that news report it looks like the carpark?

apparently a lot of things wash up here when tide is low. It says the cordon has been lifted now though so if anything significant had been found surely it would remain closed and be cleared as there’s cars and people around. I guess could be clothing or something.

NothingButAWalkover · 03/02/2023 13:52

I think it's Martin Brunt on sky. He's said now he doesn't think they have anything new to tell us, he thinks it's something the police are putting on to reassure the local community. Not sure the women of this community will be reassured by anything but Nicola being found safe and well.

The partner's interview is being ripped apart on Twitter. I'm the type to suspect the partner first but thought as the week went on that it wasn't him but now I'm not so sure.

From what I know the partner is an engineer at an automotive/aerospace company so he's no idiot, but surely if he was involved he would have been seen in the local area at the time?

I guess this is why he didn’t do the appeal as it would be scrutinised so much. (A legitimate reason not to whether he is involved or not.)

2.45pm is police press conference with update.

Holidayheaven2 · 03/02/2023 13:58

Police press conference at 2.45.

IF she fell in water by the bench, the water is mill pond calm & locals have said IF she fell in that spot they feel that, and the intermittent shallowness of water, makes it feel unlikely body swept out to sea. A lack of water ‘force’. I was struck by someone saying in some spots they struggle with pooh sticks with kids

Yet someone is quoted in a daily mail article today saying it’s 15ft deep and combined with the weather and steep banks would be quite treacherous.

Catstaps · 03/02/2023 14:02

They were carrying some small bags out of car park. From the river or from land we don’t know where from. They may also just be random bits if rubbish.

Dilemmaemmaaa · 03/02/2023 14:02

@NothingButAWalkover I know, it’s hard to know what the right thing to do is when what you say is going to be analysed anyway. I thought her sister came across as really lovely and genuine yesterday but even her interview was being analysed to say she did that smile, duper’s delight, when realistically I think it was probably just the nerves and emotion of the whole thing. The same is being said now of her partner’s interview and also the fact he went to say evidence then changed his whole sentence. I do think even when innocent you’d be so conscious of appearing innocent that you’d be terrified to say certain things though so that could be why 🤷🏼‍♀️ I’m sure they’ll have the experts on analysing it

Catstaps · 03/02/2023 14:04

I think the people who said the water is safe and shallow are talking rubbish. It’s 18 feet deep, murky with steep banks. You could easily go into the water and drown. There is a current which would carry a body underwater for potentially miles so it will be very tricky to find a body.

It can be when the tide is in. There are photos of the police stood in it, up to their knees too

Yes the poor guy was going to be vilified no matter what he did so I do feel for him. I'm so sick of women not being safe to do anything alone

itsnote · 03/02/2023 14:08

"I think the people who said the water is safe and shallow are talking rubbish. It’s 18 feet deep, murky with steep banks."

@Catstaps it's very clear you're not local and that you don't know the river. On Friday morning last week at low tide (0930 at Fleetwood) it was shallow, less than half a meter and was flowing but not rapidly by any sense of the imagination.

That doesn't mean she isn't in there, it just means you're wrong with what you are posting. The water was not deep. Do you understand tides?

northernlites · 03/02/2023 14:15

The last time the river reached 5m was in 2015 which was flooding, this is not the norm, it has to be heavy rain with spring high tides to cause these kind of depths. So to say it’s 18ft deep currently is a fantasy

The last couple weeks it has been light or no rain at all and the river level has been low - as you can see by the link posted below which shows the river level data monitored by the Gov. The stats below speak for themselves as do the photos of the police and search teams walking about in the river

I think the partner resembles Chris Watts, which is most unfortunate for him, and likely to sway peoples opinions (those that have heard of CW, obviously!)

Statistically as we all know, harm to women is normally perpetrated by a male close to them so it's natural to suspect the partner when a woman goes missing. I think in this case though he wouldn't have had time to harm her, cover it up and raise the alarm with the police, and I assume he has an alibi which has been thoroughly checked by the police. He comes across as shifty in the interview but his whole life has been turned upside down and he knows he is being scrutinised - that would make me a bit nervy too. In fact, I probably wouldn't agree to do the interview in the first place - some of us are just not cut out for the public glare!

Some have mentioned on Twitter about Nicolas family not mentioning him - but then, maybe they don't like him? Maybe he's been a wanker to her? Who knows? Doesn't make him a murderer though. I think if my DD went missing I would keep my distance from her partner too till I knew 100% he'd been cleared - just because...statistics 🤷🏻‍♀️

All that being said, it's not nice the shit that's been written about him and I hope he's too busy consoling his girls to read it, but I think it's normal in these cases, and if I was in a similar situation I would fully expect my every word/move to be scrutinised until the case was resolved.

ign0re · 03/02/2023 14:27

wheres The chat of them no longer being together? I haven’t seen that mentioned anywhere!

ChocChipOwl · 03/02/2023 14:40

@lemmein you're not seriously comparing her partner to a serial killer who murdered his wife and two young daughters? Based on ... what?

At least in this case the girls are alive!!!

That was the most horrific inexplicable part of Chris Watts' crime - the coldblooded way he killed his kids.

SlaveToTheVibe · 03/02/2023 14:41

I can’t imagine what those poor children are going through. I think the partner looks heartbroken.

I can’t think of any reason I’d take off my dogs harness especially near a river unless she became caught on something?

Yes, this is so strange. Maybe the dog slipped the harness?

Wtf, what a ridiculous and irrelevant thing to say.

Allgoodthings1 · 03/02/2023 14:49

Doesn’t sound like any new info from this police update ☹️ Other than they have been checking everywhere and speaking to everyone

ChocChipOwl · 03/02/2023 14:53

So the police themselves say that they believe that tragically she has fallen into the river. That that's the most likely explanation

And we have people saying her partner looks like a serial killer?

Mental
