How very sad.

He was very talented.

VictorianSqualor · 23/01/2008 11:36

I can't believe I've only just seen this.

tiredemma · 23/01/2008 12:04

sad me I know- but i have been looking at some of his performances via youtube. Impossible not to feel completely moved- A great actor- really, really sad.

ruty · 23/01/2008 12:09

As sophable said, what a fucking waste. He was one of the best actors of his generation. Feel both angry and very sad. What the hell was he thinking? Can't believe it and his poor daughter.

Yummers · 23/01/2008 12:33

this is so sad. he was a promising actor - 'a knights tale' really made me laugh, and '10 things i hate about you' was surprisingly good.

i'm just so shocked. when i heard the news it just didn't compute somehow. my thoughts are with his poor daughter.

MaryAnnSingleton · 23/01/2008 12:34

I didn't know who he was, though had heard of him - very sad though

Listmaker · 23/01/2008 12:53

God I didn't know about this til I saw this thread (note to self to watch more news). He was totally amazing in Brokeback Mountain - had me in floods with all the repressed emotion. How terribly sad for his family especially his dd.

Shhhh · 23/01/2008 14:10

sky last night showed his last picture, taken inthe uk on sat (i think) tbh I thought he looked old and troubled iykwim...Not like he did at premier of films such as bbm...

Sky also suggested that he was a quiet celebrity who found fame hard to cope with.

TheMuppetMuggle · 23/01/2008 14:13

i thought it was so disrespectful that they brought his body out the front door of his apartment block to all the crazed media - they could of at least taken him out the back door peacefully.

DumbledoresGirl · 23/01/2008 17:38

I know I should listen to the radio more but I am leading a busy stressful life at the moment and the news just adds to it. Soooo, I have only just heard this on the radio. I am in shock. Dreadfully sad. Such a talented and good looking young man, with a dd too. Feel very sad now.

jooseyfruit · 23/01/2008 18:18

just found this s**te on guardian website. Don't know if it's real or not, from the lovely folks at the Westboro baptist church.

sparklesandwine · 23/01/2008 18:23

nice!

PersonalClown · 23/01/2008 18:24

I hope to God that it's false.
It was a FILM people!

Kimi · 23/01/2008 18:25

Don't you just love sicko's like that, and all in the name of God.

Anyone want to point out it was only a film.

bearsmom · 23/01/2008 18:28

Jooseyfruit, sadly it probably is real. I don't know much about Westboro Baptist Church, just happened to see the C5 afternoon movie yesterday which was about a young gay man called Matthew Shepherd who was murdered in Laramie. These people picketed his funeral and have also applied to have a monument built stating something along the lines of "he's burning in hell" . I can't begin to imagine feeling such hatred for someone who did them no harm. They're warped, and I'm astonished that nothing is done in the US to stop them.

So so sad about Heath Ledger. He was incredibly talented, and obviously loved his dd very much. Feel very sorry for her, Michelle Williams and the rest of his family.

OriginalFlame · 23/01/2008 18:29

bastards

mumofdjandp · 23/01/2008 18:29

so very sad

PersonalClown · 23/01/2008 18:31

Judging by Good old Wiki it IS true.
Leave the man to rest in peace and let his loved ones grieve.

OriginalFlame · 23/01/2008 18:34

You get some damned fine god fearing people in the world dontcha ... and I bloody hope they are fearing because they'd need to be when a decent god gets his hands on em!

ruty · 23/01/2008 18:36

Well i know what side God's on.

DumbledoresGirl · 23/01/2008 18:37

I am sure more fans will be mourning Heath Ledger at his funeral than there are members of that so-called "church" to do the picketing. How dispicable some people are.

Kimi · 23/01/2008 18:40

You would think they could find a child killer to go stone to death or something.

How sickening for his poor family.

tribpot · 23/01/2008 19:01

Am utterly aghast at the monstrosity of some people. I sincerely hope that somehow his family never find out about this, is that even possible? It's Holocaust Day on Sunday, is this how far we have come since then

I always think of Matthew Shepherd when I visit the Homomonument in Amsterdam (I think that is its real name, it's by the Westerkirk and Anne Frank's House). He was the subject of the very moving song by Melissa Etheridge, Scarecrow.

LolaTheShowgirl · 23/01/2008 19:04

It's so sad Such a waste of a promising young life. He had so much talent.

saltire · 23/01/2008 19:07

I am utterly shocked at this (the church thing) and Ledgers death.. I admit though I smiled when I saw the image on Wiki of a protestor with a placard saying "God hates America" surely then he must hate the picketer for living there? or does that not apply.
I hope they leave his poor fmaily and child in peace
