Just announced on sky news..

OP posts:
Kimi · 23/01/2008 07:03

So sad, I love him in a knights tale.
What a waste of a young life, his poor DD growing up without daddy.
So sad for his family, and such a shame things have to be made public ( suspected drugs related death) before the facts are known.

Bouncingturtle · 23/01/2008 07:06

Totally agree - what a bloody waste of a life . My sympathies go to his family especially his little dd.

WaynettaSlob · 23/01/2008 07:18

Only read about this this morning. Such a waste of a young life.

belgo · 23/01/2008 07:21

very sad, he was a great actor. So sad for his family.

OriginalFlame · 23/01/2008 07:31

I love him

tribpot · 23/01/2008 07:46

Nothing to add except my condolences to his family. Very this morning, loved 10 Things, loved A Knight's Tale, such a terrible waste.

elvisgirl · 23/01/2008 07:48

Christ no...his performance in Brokeback Mountain blew me away, & his portrayal as a loving parent in it despite the rest of the character's life being a mess partly convinced me that it'd be ok for me to have a child & now I am 2 mths away from having one. Which just makes it more tragic he has left his young daughter. Too, too sad.

sparklesandwine · 23/01/2008 07:55

i'm not one for posting on in the news threads normally, but i really did like his films and thought he was quite beautiful and a worthy actor - its very sad for his young daughter, family and friends

biglips · 23/01/2008 08:12

he was sssoooo young (28).. apparantly the police found prescriptive pills next to his body.. poor poor dd

colditz · 23/01/2008 08:24

I'm 27, 28 in May, and I think it is an age of assessment. I have taken a long hard look at my self and my life this year, and found a goal to head towards ... how sad if he did the same. I really hope it was accidental, and that he just meant to sleep, but somehow I doubt it.

FoghornLeghorn · 23/01/2008 08:32

I saw this on News @ 10 last night and was totally shocked !
So sad, such a waste and his poor little girl

winegumss · 23/01/2008 08:50

That is so sad, so young and a little girl left behind, neARLY 3.

merryberry · 23/01/2008 09:42

he was so funny! laconic cool, charismatic etc etc.

would have, erm, done him in an instant. bless him.

Nbg · 23/01/2008 09:54

Very very sad.

He was a great actor.

Grouchyoscar · 23/01/2008 09:58

Heard it this morning on Radio 5 Truly tragic.

He was a fantastic actor, I saw him in 'I'm not here' only last week. After Brokeback Mountain I had him tipped for an Oscar We'll never see what other stunning performances he was capable of.

A truly sad loss to all. Thinking of those he has left behind

RIP Heath

meandboys · 23/01/2008 10:08

Very sad news

Love it when he sings that song 'i love you baby' in the film 10 things i hate about you.

A great talent that will turely be missed

My thoughts are with his family and friends (especially his dd)
May Heath RIP

PersonalClown · 23/01/2008 10:11

Was stunned to read this at 6am when Ds woke me up.
I thought he was fab! 10 Things is one of my favourite films.
I feel so sad for his daughter who'll never really know him.

RoxyMonoxide · 23/01/2008 10:15

A terrible waste.

francagoestohollywood · 23/01/2008 10:18

I'm quite shocked and sad. Not as much as when River Phoenix died, but I'm very sorry. so young!

lucykate · 23/01/2008 10:35

he was a very promising actor with a huge amount of potential, unfortunately, i think some people are just destined to die young

SlartyBartFast · 23/01/2008 10:36

i was shocked when i heard that.
i loved him since 10 things i hate about you, he was fantastic.

SlartyBartFast · 23/01/2008 10:43

according to today's Grauniad he had complained of being unable to sleep and took sleeping pills.
news this morning suggested an accidental overdose of sleepign pills.
he was jsut about to start playing The Joker....
this was one actor i fancied

ibblewob · 23/01/2008 10:59

Heard it on R4 this morning - actually made me gasp and stop what I was doing for a few seconds. Then went and texted DH and best friend... very rare that a story affects me like this.

Feel gutted as I made a stupid comment the other day about how we hadn't had any major superstar deaths recently - not like Cobain or River. I didn't mean it Heath!

Wisteria · 23/01/2008 11:03

Actually he had just finished playing the joker so methinks it will be rather a poignant film.

Am absolutely gutted and on my blardy b'day too - I don't fancy many superstars but he was the one for me - will be consoling a 14yr old later too

expatinscotland · 23/01/2008 11:07

it's just so weird to accidentally overdose on those things.

i've been so depressed, and have been prescribed tablets to help me sleep as well.

but you just know, some part of your knows that if you take too many you could die, and so part of me thinks, you have to be in that frame of mind where you just don't care anymore.

and you have to take a lot, really, especially what the kinds they prescribe in the US.

anytime someome ODs, you wonder if it was really such an accident, because there's always that survival instinct in all of us that you get to the point where either you stop or you don't care enough anymore to stop.

poor heath and his family!

because it's not a nice place to be, the point where you even need sleeping tablets.
