Just announced on sky news..

OP posts:
Chuffinnora · 23/01/2008 19:09

I thought it was very disrespectful of the 6pm BBC news to show his body being taken from his apartment in a body bag. When did this become acceptable? There were a million flashes going off. Think we need to give privacy and respect to the dead again, as we used to not so long ago.

As for the WBC - what a bunch of idiotic arses.

becaroo · 23/01/2008 19:14

Absolutely chuffinnora.

People are always banging on about islamic fundamentalists....I am far more worried by the christian far right in the USA. They are sick, sick people.

tribpot · 23/01/2008 19:14

Chuffin - that was on Breakfast news as well and I quite agree, we didn't need to see that, it was horrible I think I'm going to put in a complaint about it. It shouldn't have been filmed, that is a private moment that adds nothing to the news story.

expatinscotland · 23/01/2008 19:18

The autopsy was inconclusive and there will need to be further tests, which could take up to 10 days.

There are some reports that he had pneumonia, couldn't sleep and took some sleeping tablets he'd been prescribed in the recent past before he fell ill - a potentially fatal error.

Kimi · 23/01/2008 19:19

Its a sad part of our society today, no moment is private, and there is always some muppet that will pay for the photos.

There is no dignity in death for some, and sadly it has become the norm for every detail to be played out in full public glare.

expatinscotland · 23/01/2008 19:27

True, Kimi, look at all those scumbags trying to flog photos of Princess Di after the crash.

Disgusting.

Kimi · 23/01/2008 19:32

I don't think on thing was learned for the whole Diana tragedy.
That poor womans life and death is still being raked over, how must her poor sons feel? And how must the family of this poor young man feel to see this?

I remember when my Nanna died at home the sight of the under takers taking her out in a body bag was very upsetting, and we did not have hoards of people watching.

expatinscotland · 23/01/2008 19:36

it's because Mohammed Al-Fayed just will not let it go and accept that his son very tragically died in an accident.

3Ddonut · 23/01/2008 19:39

I only heard about Heath Ledger today, and I'm shocked and saddened by it, I totally agree that it is disgusting that the press have sold photos of his body being taken from the apartment, such a sad example of modern life.

Chuffinnora · 23/01/2008 19:50

Agree it is inevitable that someone will pay for pictures of a famous persons body being removed but I was disappointed that the BBC decided to show them. Thought it would be more sky news style.
Tribpot - how do you complain to the BBC?

tribpot · 23/01/2008 20:16

Chuffin, I went on to the website and there's a link for complaints. here

Chuffinnora · 23/01/2008 20:27

Tribpot, Thanks, I have emailed a complaint.

Grouchyoscar · 23/01/2008 20:51

Been thinking...

Those godbotherers who are going to protest at Heath's funeral yeah...Are they going to go all the way to Australia then?

Just wondering

Shaniece · 23/01/2008 21:11

how awful that the news just showed him being carried out in a body bag . How awful for his close family .

expatinscotland · 23/01/2008 21:42

His daughter looks JUST like him (odd, too, how Kurt Cobain's daughter is also the image of Kurt)!

cushioncover · 24/01/2008 11:01

I've just emailed the BBC to complain too. Totally unnecessary.

Vacua · 24/01/2008 11:02

has anyone else heard rumours that Heath Ledger was gay, career suicide in Hollywood, and the news was about to break?

Piffle · 24/01/2008 11:04

So what, he would have just retired on his considerable assets and played with his daughter.
FWIw he does not give over any gayness IMO, the other BB mountain guy does in spades

Vacua · 24/01/2008 11:06

I don't really have a 'gaydar' as such, it didn't sound terribly plausible to me.

Wisteria · 24/01/2008 11:10

Hi vacua I think that's rubbish incidentally - there were never any rumours about it that I can see, just googled.

If it was 'about to break' then it would be somewhere wouldn't it?

cinnamontam · 24/01/2008 11:11

I hope he is buried back home in Perth (Oz) then those nasty Westboro fuckers can't follow him.

Vacua · 24/01/2008 11:13

friend who is an actor's agent is convinced, I'm not, I think it was suicide though and not an 'accident'

cinnamontam · 24/01/2008 11:14

He's from my home town. Local paper says he will be buried at home. My brothers were at school with him. They are gobsmaked. Can't believe it. It's so bloody sad. My heart aches for his family, his mates and his little Matilda

bundle · 24/01/2008 11:15

even if he was gay that's hardly unheard of these days.

he'd broken up with the mother of his child recently and was obviously having some problems given the number of prescription drugs he had.

Wisteria · 24/01/2008 11:16

I don't, don't want to think about it. I adored him

I wish people could just allow him to RIP now, think it's unlikely to be suicide - no note etc , maybe he was gay, maybe not - who cares? There's a child who will only ever know her Dad through Google, so I hope it's left alone, although I know it won't be
